RecruitZ blurb:
Scientists are the new rock stars. The infection has been contained for several months, and the world is celebrating. But humans are still dying. Rebekah Taylor has seen it firsthand. Her husband was killed right in front of her by the very creatures that humans were told they no longer had to fear.
Rebekah is determined to find out who is responsible for the death of her husband and the obvious cover-up. Fueled with revenge, she begins to find answers that lead to one frightening conclusion. The apocalypse might be over, but the battles are just beginning.
Karice lives in Washington with her wonderful husband, who also happens to be her high school sweetheart and their two cute English bulldogs! She enjoys reading, baking, and trying to be crafty on her off-hours. She's also a coffee, tea, and snow addict. If she could live somewhere that had the white stuff year-round, she probably would. She also loves chatting with her readers on Facebook!
My Review:
I don’t usually read zombie books. They kind of freak me out. I am glad that I read this one though! I actually loved it! The zombie’s weren’t to gross so that helps. Only one time in the beginning when they did their zombie killing, were they a little gross. It’s a zombie apocalypse like no other I have heard of. Why? Because there is a vaccine that stopped it. Not everyone is a zombie. Rebekah is one of those people. Unfortunately though, despite the vaccine, her husband is murdered by a horde of zombie’s right in front of her. They went for him and didn’t touch her. This is weird. Almost like they were attacking him on purpose? This puts Rebekah into a depression. I don’t blame her at all I would too. Until she meets Preston, the good looking bar tender. Her world is about to change. What they know about the undead is not all true. Did she really know her husband as good as she thought she did? What is making the zombies “smart”?
Preston has been working with a group of people dedicated to figuring out what is going on. As much as the government wants people to go out and stimulate the economy, something isn’t right. Is it possible that Rebekah just hallucinated after seeing her husband killed? She’s not sure. Preston introduces her to a dangerous world with dangerous people and few friends. Something is going on and they need to figure it out. Loved ones have been lost. It’s personal.
Preston and Rebekah have quite a few things in common. They both have lost someone they love, need answers, and need some support. Rebekah thought she was alone in this. Finding Preston may have been the best thing to happen to her. Their relationship takes a while to start. Rebekah feels bad because she loved her husband and feels like she is betraying him, which is completely natural. I loved these two pretty much because of the emotional support they gave each other. I didn’t need hot romance. Sometimes you just need someone to listen and be there for you and that’s what they did for each other.
I loved this book and am really looking forward to the sequel. I’m glad the author offed this one, it’s the first zombie book I have ever read and it didn't disappoint. I would definitely recommend it!
