Goodreads Summary:
Tasting Never, a New Adult Novel Recommended for Ages 18 and Up

"Never Ross wants to be loved.
It's that simple, but it's not that easy."

Never is a girl with a broken soul who doesn't date nice guys and can't seem to go to bed at night without crying herself to sleep. She doesn't need any complications in her life, especially not when they're attached to a man that could be her emotional twin.

Ty McCabe can't stand Never the first time he meets her. He's aware that the feeling's mutual and the two don't think they'll ever see each other again, but when fate takes a hand and puts them both in the wrong place at the wrong time, Ty and Never form a tentative friendship that opens the door on their dark sides and shows them what it's like to live in the light.

"Sometimes, the only way to go forward, is to take a few, careful steps back."

Goodreads Summary:
“Until Nathaniel Sutherland was open and all his soul was bared for me to see, I wouldn't be satisfied.”

Theresa McMaster does not have a good track record when it comes to men. Her first husband walked out on her after a terrible miscarriage left her unable to carry any children of her own, and her estranged second husband has revealed himself to be more than just an emotional danger – he's been stalking her.

Fearing for her own safety as well as that of her family, Theresa hires a private security service and meets Nathaniel, the man whose secrets and heartaches may just outnumber her own. Drawn into the arms of the sexy stranger, Theresa fears that both of their pasts may very well be the things that keep them apart.

“You can't escape your past by running from it.”

Goodreads Summary:
With honor, pride, and privilege …

It takes a brave person to be a Griffin Rider, and an even braver person to hold the Chryer's Crest and be a leader. But Jordan doesn't know about any of these things. She's a normal girl with a normal house and a normal cat (whose name just happens to be Mr. Marmalade).

When Jordan wakes up on Monday morning, she thinks it's going to be a day like any other. She certainly never expects to find a bird made of fire in her garden shed, and she's absolutely flabbergasted to encounter a griffin on that very same day! Of course, the most interesting things can show up in the most unexpected places. Jordan is destined for greatness, and her courage is needed to protect not only the world she loves, but also another that she never even knew existed.

With the help of Brixus, the Prince of Griffins, Jordan must prove that sometimes, it takes an outsider to lead the way.

Better World by Autumn Kalquist

Goodreads Summary:
The last humans spent centuries searching for a new Earth. Now they face extinction.

For three hundred years, arks have carried the last remnants of humanity through dark space. The ships are old, failing, and every colonist must do their duty to ensure the fleet's survival.

Maeve is a metalworker, toiling in the blistering sublevels of the London. She's lost friends and family to the hazardous work conditions and fears every job she's assigned could be her last. All she wants is a little control over her life, but the oppressive sublevel enforcers ensure that’s not an option.

Now, after decades of traveling, the ships have finally reached their destination: Soren, a toxic planet that may have the resources they desperately need. But mining a planet comes at a price, and Maeve and the other workers will be expected to pay it with their lives.

If a better world awaits, Maeve's sure to be dead long before the fleet finds it… unless she finds a way to control her destiny and change it.

My Review:
Better World takes us back to when Soren was first discovered. What I have learned throughout this series is that society has become cruel. Living in the ships does not seem like a very fun life. They are forced into dangerous work, forced to pair, and forced to have babies. All while living in space and hoping to be able to find New Earth. It doesn't seem like much of a life. Maeve has had a rough life. She has lost friends and family to the quest for a new home. She is a bitter person. Even the women she has feelings for has now paired. Maeve doesn't think she will live long enough to see New Earth. Then her life changes. She is drawn to be the first group to go down to Soren. This typically does not go well when you are the first on the surface. Will Maeve survive this suicide mission?

Maeve and Dritan are close friends. Maeve even volunteers to take his place on the crew going down to Soren. She loves him as a friend but, nothing more. If she has to pair with someone she would prefer in be with Dritan. There is not much romance in this one as everyone is working on staying alive.

Throughout this book I wanted Maeve to take control of her life. I wanted her to find a reason to live and want to thrive in this new world. She seemed to be a bitter and angry person. when she volunteers to go to Soren I wasn't sure if it would be a good thing. It turns out to be both bad and good.

It was very interesting to see how the fleet found Soren in the first place. I understand more of how the series started now. I have loved this series and it has done an amazing job of keeping me on the edge of my seat. I am anxiously awaiting the next book!

ARC Review of The Leveller by Julia Durango

Goodreads Summary:
Nixy Bauer is a self-made Leveller. Her job? Dragging kids out of virtual reality and back to their parents in the real world. It’s normally easy cash, but Nixy’s latest mission is fraught with real danger, intrigue, and romance.

Nixy Bauer is used to her classmates being very, very unhappy to see her. After all, she’s a bounty hunter in a virtual reality gaming world. Kids in the MEEP, as they call it, play entirely with their minds, while their bodies languish in a sleeplike state on the couch. Irritated parents, looking to wrench their kids back to reality, hire Nixy to jump into the game and retrieve them.

But when the game’s billionaire developer loses track of his own son in the MEEP, Nixy is in for the biggest challenge of her bounty-hunting career. Wyn Salvador isn’t some lazy kid looking to escape his homework: Wyn does not want to be found. And he’s left behind a suicide note. Nixy takes the job but quickly discovers that Wyn’s not hiding—he’s being held inside the game against his will. But who is holding him captive, and why?

Nixy and Wyn attempt to fight their way out of a mind game unlike any they’ve encountered, and the battle brings them closer than either could have imagined. But when the whole world is virtual, how can Nixy possibly know if her feelings are real?

Gamers and action fans of all types will dive straight into the MEEP, thanks to Julia Durango’s cinematic storytelling. A touch of romance adds some heart to Nixy’s vivid, multidimensional journey through Wyn’s tricked-out virtual city, and constant twists keep readers flying through to the breathtaking end.

My Review:
I can totally see a world where a video game and virtual reality are number one. Who wouldn't want to go to a world the have created and live however they want?! This is why Nixy's job is needed. You are only suppose to spend so much time in this world. She gets sent in to retrieve the people who break the rules. A lot of times to get teens out when they don't listen to their parents. I am not sure I'd want to come out of a virtual reality where I can be beautiful and have fun. Nixy's ability to find people in the MEEP lands her a job that pays very well. Finding the creatoer of MEEP's son, Wyn. Who has decided to commit suicide by not coming out of MEEP and letting his body die. After Nixy decides to take the job, she quickly learns that more is going on the meets the eye. The mission quickly becomes harder then she imagined. Will she be able to find Wyn and get out before it's to late?

I thought Wyn and Nixy's relationship was cute. Obviously it doesn't start out romantic due to the being stuck inside a virtual reality video game. They are busy trying to get out of the game most of the time. They also take a bit of a vacation. When your trapped in paradise why not enjoy it a little bit right? Things do get a little heated between them for a bit but, nothing to crazy.

I really enjoyed this book. It was different from what is currently out there. I also enjoyed it because I believe something like that will happen in the future. A virtual reality that people will not want to leave. It is such an interesting topic. I loved it!

Goodreads Summary:
Sometimes life leaves a mark…

Most days, Andrea doesn’t know whether she wants to kiss Tanner or punch him in the gut. He is seriously hot, with legit bedroom eyes and that firefighter body of his, but he’s a major player, and they can’t get along for more than a handful of minutes. Until now.

Tanner knows he and Andrea have had an epic love/hate relationship for as long as he can remember, but he wants more love than hate from her. He wants her. Now. Tomorrow. But the more he gets to know her, the more it becomes obvious that Andrea has a problem. She’s teetering on the edge and every time he tries to catch her, she slips through his fingers.

Andrea’s life is spiraling out of control, and it doesn’t matter that Tanner wants to save her, because when everything falls apart and she’s speeding toward rock bottom, only she can save herself.

Sometimes life makes you work for that happily ever after…

Goodreads Summary:
With a famous NHL player for a step-brother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation many hockey stars come with. She’s smart enough to steer clear of those hot, well-built boys with unparalleled stamina. That is until she meets the legendary team captain—Alex Waters.

Violet isn’t interested in his pretty, beat-up face, or his rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s previous misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes more than just a hot body with a face to match.

In what can only be considered a complete lapse in judgment, Violet finds out just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. But what starts out as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more. Post-night of orgasmic magic, Alex starts to call, and text, and e-mail and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts, making him difficult to ignore, and even more difficult not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

Velvet by Temple West

Goodreads Summary:
First rule of dealing with hot vampire bodyguards? Don't fall in love.

After losing both her parents before age seventeen, aspiring designer Caitlin Holte feels like her whole world has been turned upside down, and that was before the terrifying encounter with a supernatural force. Then, she learns that her hot bad-boy neighbor, Adrian—who might have just saved her life—is actually a half-demon vampire.

Suddenly Caitlin is stuck with a vampire bodyguard who feels that the best way to protect her is to become her pretend boyfriend. Trouble is, Caitlin is starting to fall in love for real, while Adrian can never love a human. Caitlin trusts Adrian to keep her safe from his demon father, but will he be able to protect her heart?

My Review:
I have been looking for a fun vampire read and I found it in Velvet. No, it is not Twilight and no it is not like every other vampire book. Caitlin is a young girl who has been through a lot and has had to grow up way to fast. She feels alone in her life until a stranger saves her from a storm. Her memory of the event is foggy. After a few days a guy at school, Adrian, starts to pay attention to her. Becomes her friend and maybe more. Although when Adrian's world comes crashing into Caitlin's, life will never be the same. She is about to enter a world where she is stuck in the middle of two worlds where her life is valuable but, it is also a deadly spot for her. Will Caitlin survive?

Adrian is a pretty perfect guy. I was sad when their relationship was kind of a sham to keep her safe and to protect her from Adrian's father. The demon who is seeking her for...well we never really find out why. Adrian and her relationship feels so real at times. You can tell when it turns into something real and not fake. The shower scene for instance. It shows two people who are broken and beyond caring about the council and others. There is some romance but, I am hoping for more in the next book!

There were great secondary characters as well. Trish is really great. She is the best friend Caitlin could have asked for. She has some great one liners. I also really enjoyed Adrian's brother Lucian. He was by far one of my favorites. His antics were hilarious and getting used to having a body was very amusing.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a great vampire read and I haven't found many that I really liked lately. It was a book that drew me in and kept me interested the whole time. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!

ARC Review of The Arrangement Vol. 19 by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
THE SERIES WITH OVER 10 MILLION COPIES SOLD
Volume 19 in the New York Times Bestselling Arrangement Serials

Some things come easy in life, but this is the hardest situation I could have imagined. The man I love, the broken billionaire Sean Ferro, has finally dropped his guard and opened his heart. He's let me in. He's shared his life and his love. Then the unimaginable happens. One event cascades into another until I’m standing at the shore with blood on my hands, betraying the man I swore to love forever.

My Review:
Hold on to your seats people because this volume will blow you away! Numerous times I was like OMG! Did that just happen?!?! I'm not sure how Ward is able to continue to shock me but, she does. At the beginning I was so happy to see Avery and Sean finally are like two normal people. Well except for the whole Ferro mansion being blown up. That part was not normal. That is where Vol. 19 picks up. Right after the explosion. I give it to Avery for not running after but, for making Sean keep her by his side. Although this is just a smoke screen as, things can not stay good for these two for long.

This was definitely a serious volume and not a kissy lovey one. A lot of bad stuff happens and people die. Death seems to follow Avery wherever she goes. There is no time for love and romance.

I was so hoping for the happily ever after but, it is not coming. After reading this one I know for sure. The lengths that Avery went to push Sean away is shocking...even to me. I worry how this is all going to end. I see it being only partly happy and partly bad. These two may not be meant for each other. I am desperate for the next volume!

ARC Review of My Serenity by M. Clarke

Goodreads Summary:
When tragedy strikes, Seth Stewart is forced to return home after the death of his beloved father. The unexpected detour forces him to oversee the family’s auto shop and restaurant business, and Seth must kiss the prestigious internship goodbye after his first year at Berkeley Business School. When he collides with his first crush after his arrival, Seth wonders what possibly could have happened to Josefina Anders.

Josefina has hidden many secrets she is too ashamed to share with anyone, especially Seth. When they cross paths again, the urge to relive their past lingers in her mind even though she knows he couldn’t accept her sketchy past. Things get even more complicated when her mother returns, as well as her overly possessive ex, who decides to crash into her fragile existence all over again.

Will Seth’s connection for Josefina be strong enough to see past her secrets, or will he realize he can’t rekindle an old flame?

My Review:
You better make sure you have a good chunk of time available if you are going to read this one! Once you start you won't be able to put it down. Do you remember what if felt like to love someone in grade school? I know we all do/did! It's a special kind of love but, can also lead to excruciating heart ache. For Seth and Josie know this all to well. Life takes over you and you can't control it. For Josie, her childhood through my eyes was awful. She was treated like crap by her parents. I don't think she ever felt truly safe or loved by them. For Seth it was different. He had a loving family and an average childhood. His heartache happened with the death of his father. Both of these people have had to take on additional responsibilities, just at different times in their lives. Will they find love again or will their obstacles prove to be to great?

These two are so cute! School sweethearts, just like me and my husband. Some people will always leave their mark on your heart but, only a few last forever. It takes a little bit for things to really set fire between these two. Which is fine. I hate insta-love in books. Even though they had a history it still took time to re-connect. So much has happened that they don't know about each other. They really have changed. They are both strong and independent people. All in all an amazing couple, they just have to realize it!

Things do get a little hot and heave with these two. I personally loved the interview part. I thought it was fun and sexy! They definitely have great chemistry. The emphasis of friends and family is highly felt throughout this book. Family is so important and I think Seth's family shows Josie what a proper family should be like. It helps renew her faith in family again.

I loved the first book, My Clarity, and I would recommend you read that one first but, you wouldn't necessarily have to. My Serenity is a story of love, passion, family, and friends. It will have you laughing, crying, and happy at the same time. It was so sweet! Another amazing story from M. Clarke!
