Audio Books: Yay or Nay

I have never listened to an audiobook. I know some people are very into them, I just never have been. I'm so busy with work right now that I am considering listening to a book on the commute and on breaks. I am curious what everyone else thinks. Have you listened to audiobooks? Do you enjoy them? Should I give it a try?

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

Goodreads Summary:
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

My Review:
I picked this one up after I saw the movie trailer. Not going to lie, I hadn't heard of it before then. I was intriged with the movie trailer and thought I'd better read the book first. I am glad I did. Everything Everything was a fun and fast read. It was very well written. You could really feel how hard it was for Madeline to never leave the house. I can't imagine that, especially for a teenager. The best way to describe this book is cute. Madeline and Olly were soooo cute. They way he courted her was perfect. They basically fell for each other with minimal contact which is a not normal. Will Olly and Madeline ever have a normal relationship or will her disease make it impossible?

I really enjoyed Olly. He didn't have a normal life either. Not quite like Madeline's but, he had his own demons to deal with too. He managed to be much more grown up then he should have to be. I think he was perfect for Madeline. A lot happened for a teenager who couldn't leave her house. Their relationship was adorable!

I really liked Clara too. She is Madeline's nurse and I felt she added a lot to the story. Her views on Madeline's illness and he way she helped her when things got bad was amazing. I like to think it was more then just because she was a nurse. She cared for Madeline as if she was her own child and that is hard to find.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick fun read and I would recommend it to anyone. I would have liked a little more elaboration on the end. Like ok now what happens?!?! Alas there was no more and my mind is left to wonder.

Finding Kyle by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary:
When you’ve lived your life as a criminal…
When you’ve done unspeakable things …
When your soul has become dark and stained…

The path to redemption begins where you least expect it.

Kyle Sommerville is in hiding and doesn’t want to be found by anyone. Certainly not by his quirky, free-spirited neighbor who’s managed to push her way past the walls he’s built around him. But Jane Cresson’s indomitable will and insatiable curiosity about her reclusive neighbor makes it impossible for Kyle to stay immersed in his dark world.

Little by little, she claws through his shell.
Day by day, she gets him to smile a little more.
Night by night, they both find pleasure they never knew existed.

When Kyle’s terrible past is exposed, Jane begins to think she’s in over her head. Can her love for this broken man finally clear his path to redemption, or will Kyle’s darkness extinguish every bit of hope she’s put into him?

My Review:
I have to start out by saying. I loved Jane! She was a great female character! She was a super sweet person with a great personality. I loved all of her movie quotes. I can see how she could really mess with Kyle. She lives a quite safe life on a teachers salary. She is an amazing artist and an all around great neighbor. Kyle is not prepared for her. She really dug her heals into the ground when she wanted him. What Jane doesn't know is that Kyle isn't really who he says he is. He has a pretty sorted past. A past that he must keep secret or he will put his life and everyone he cares about at risk.

I loved how Jane not so subtly goes after Kyle. He pushes her away pretty hard but, Jane is relentless. She is so attracted to his bad boy exterior. They have a chemistry even if it isn't always a two way street. Kyle tries very hard to keep Jane away but, he has very little luck. She knows what she wants. It take longer then I wanted for Kyle to show some positive feelings towards Jane but, it does happen. He needs someone like her more then he knows. His past has left Kyle broken and he's not the man he used to be. Jane could be the missing piece that puts Kyle back together again.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick fun read. It was a fun romantic read and one of my favorite from Sawyer Bennett thus far. It's time to start picking up her books!

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir

Goodreads Summary:
Elias and Laia are running for their lives. After the events of the Fourth Trial, Martial soldiers hunt the two fugitives as they flee the city of Serra and undertake a perilous journey through the heart of the Empire.

Laia is determined to break into Kauf—the Empire’s most secure and dangerous prison—to save her brother, who is the key to the Scholars’ survival. And Elias is determined to help Laia succeed, even if it means giving up his last chance at freedom.

But dark forces, human and otherworldly, work against Laia and Elias. The pair must fight every step of the way to outsmart their enemies: the bloodthirsty Emperor Marcus, the merciless Commandant, the sadistic Warden of Kauf, and, most heartbreaking of all, Helene—Elias’s former friend and the Empire’s newest Blood Shrike.

Bound to Marcus’s will, Helene faces a torturous mission of her own—one that might destroy her: find the traitor Elias Veturius and the Scholar slave who helped him escape…and kill them both.

My Review:
I guess it was naive of me to think that the journey to Kauf would be a big easier for Laia and Elias. The journey was full of danger, lies, and death. I never thougth that everyone would survive this journey but, I was not prepared for all the sacrifices that were made. No one will be the same if they make it through this. Friendships and loyalty will be tested. Can Elias and Laia rescue Darin? Is he even alive? Can Helene actually kill Elias? So much intrigue! I was on the edge of my seat with the end of each chapter.

There were a lot of reviews that appeared to not enjoy Helene's new chapters in this one. I personally loved them. It was very interesting to see what was going on inside the Empire while Elias and Laia were on the run. There was a massive amount of internal conflict for Helene. Helene went through so many terrible things. She is broken now and everyone is at risk. She is going to get her revenge and everyone who has wronged her should be afraid...very afraid.

Elias...oh how I just love him. I wanted him and Laia together so much! They had so many beautiful moments. There is a cloud between them...well 2 actually. Keenan for one. A thorn in my side that boy is. I have never liked him. I figured a journey across the desert would be more romantic however they aren't alone often and Elias has a lot to deal with. I still have high hopes. With everything that's happened I am uncertain of anyone's future.

I am very sad that I have to wait until 2018 sometime for the next book in the series. That is way to long! I am invested in these characters and need to know what is going to happen with 2 more books planned. I am glad I picked this series up. It lived up to the hype and I was worried it wouldn't. So now I play the looooooong waiting game for the next book.

I'm Back!

Hello Everyone!!
I know, it's been a crazy long time since I blogged. I have had some issues in my life that kept me from blogging. What's important is that I am back! I am hoping to have more time to blog in the upcoming months. I have missed it a lot. My job has been so crazy and I have went down in hours to keep myself sane. Therefore I now have some "me time" back for the things I love. One of those is blogging. Reviews will start again!
