Goodreads Summary:
One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.
My Review:
After getting through Divergent so quickly had immediately got Insurgent for my Kindle. I am sooo glad I did! I found myself again reading late into the night and finishing this book in about two days. Tris goes through more life changing events in Insurgent. To me it seemed like she had a harder time dealing with her parents deaths they she expected to. Insurgent brings up a lot of important issues when it comes to war. Tris also has to deal with those closest to her bending the truth. This goes to show that no matter the faction everyone has secrets. Especially those you love and trust. No matter how perfect a society may seem there is bound to be conflict. It is human nature. Tris had to decide where her loyalties are and sometimes it is against those you love.
Tris and Tobias are having some trouble with their relationship through Insurgent. Loyalties and trustworthiness are tested. Tris came into her own person in Insurgent. Even to the point where it scared her. I felt the same way Tobias did in that regard. She was continually throwing her life into dangerous situations. I was like NO! Stop doing stupid things!!! I felt for Tobias, he was really worried about her. It will be interesting to see where things go from here.
The ending was definitely a cliffhanger! Some major information was released at the end of the book and things are about to change forever. So many questions are in my head and I need answers! So book 3 can come out any time now!!!
A blog about books I have read and what I thought. I review a lot of YA as well as New Adult and Adult books. So just an FYI!!

Divergent by Veronica Roth
Goodreads Summary:
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves… or it might destroy her.
Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.
My Review:
I have to admit that I was worried about this series and that's why it took me so long to read it. This series was so talked about I was worried it would be a let down. Wow, was I wrong. I got sucked into this world and couldn't put it down. I read it in 2 days and stayed up well into the night just to keep reading! Dystopian novels are a new territory for me. The Hunger Games were the only other ones that I have read. Divergent was soooo different but, very thought provoking at the same time. I was drawn to the Dauntless and Abnegation groups. They seemed really interesting to me. I needed to learn more!!! Tris is a very strong female character. And being a female myself I love it! It took time for her to learn to learn skills she didn't just come out awesome. The concept of Divergence was really interesting to. I honestly had no idea what it meant. I think that's why this genre is so appealing. It's so different that you never know whats coming!
Four was probably one of my favorite characters aside from Tris. He seemed to be striving for what was right and not just being savage like Eric. My favorite part was probably Four's fear landscape with Tris. It was something so personal and more intimate then you would think.
I can't wait to see what happens in Insurgent. I have already got it for my Kindle and will start it as soon as I am done with this post!

Title: Requiem
Author: Lauren Oliver
Release Date: Spring 2013
Series Number: 3
Goodreads Summary:
Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight. Of Pandemonium, ALA Booklist noted that “like all successful second volumes, this expands the world and ups the stakes, setting us up for the big finale.”
After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancĂ©e of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.
My Thoughts:
I have really enjoyed the Delirium series! I think that it is such a unique story where love is considered a disease that kills people! so different from anything I have ever read. I was hooked instantly. I looking forward to the third book in the series considering how the second one ended!!! I was like speechless at the ending and didn't want to book to be done. I am sad that it doesn't come out until the Spring of 2013!!! That's sooooo far away! I guess I have no choice but to anxiously wait for this book....

Awry (The Archers of Avalon #2) by Chelsea Fine
Goodreads Summary:
Sometimes love is meant to be. But sometimes...love is the death of you....
Seventeen-year-old Scarlet has just died. Only, dying isn't unusual for a girl under a centuries old curse that left her semi-immortal.
This time, though, she comes back to her current life instead of awaking in a new one, and she realizes the curse is changing. Together with the immortal Archer brothers, Scarlet must piece together her life and try to break the curse before her impending death comes again.
IF you have not read the first book in the series my reviw may contain spoliers!
My Review:
I must say first off that I was blown away by this book. I felt like I was reading two stories with the flashbacks to Scarlet's first life. This book picks up right where the first one left off. Right after Scarlet gets shot by the arrow! It is a crazy roller coaster ride from that point on. The book was so well written with the transitions between the regular chapters and the past. They revealed just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and dying to keep reading!
I will say that after this one I am completely Team Tristan!! His love for Scarlet transcends time! Obviously haha! It was so nice to see their back story to see how they met and how Scarlet ended up engaged to Gabriel. I want for them to be together so bad! A lot of new information is revealed in this book and I hate to say it but, they kind of have a long road ahead of them it seems. But, I hope for the best!
So the one thing that I kind of need to know is what happens!!! The book ended and I was like O_O NOO!!! That can't be the ending!!!! I guess I have nothing to do but wait for book 3 to come out. Which hopefully is sooner rather then later.

Last Rite by Lisa Desrochers
Goodreads Summary:
In this final installment of the thrilling, edgy Personal Demons series, the battle between Heaven and Hell has become critical, and Frannie Cavanaugh is right at the center of it.
With the help of the powerful angel Gabe and demon-turned-mortal Luc, Frannie has been able to stay one step ahead of the forces of Hell. But when the demons killed Frannie's best friend and destroyed her brother, they raised the stakes. If Frannie wants to keep her family and friends safe, she knows she has no choice but to go on the run.
Their best defense is the power Frannie has been struggling to master, but her attempts to hone her skill go horribly awry. If Frannie doesn't learn fast, the consequences could be devastating--even apocalyptic.
What happens when you can't outrun Hell...or trust the ones you love?
My Review:
Last Rite was the conclusion to this series. And it was awesome! The story took so many crazy turns that I never saw coming! Both Gabe and Luc struggle with their feelings for Frannie and trying to the the right thing. Frannie's family also played a much bigger role in this book and it was nice to see. Some big decisions were made here and not everyone survives!
Like I said both Gabe and Luc are struggling with their feelings for Frannie. They are torn between doing the right thing to keep her safe and having broken hearts. This left me yelling at the book at both of them when they were being stupid boys! AH! So frustrating. Because it usually ended up with everyone feeling bad and heartbroken! I don't want to ruin the story by saying who she ends up with so you will just have to read it to find out!
I really enjoyed how Frannie's family played a bigger role in this story. They were awesome characters! Maggie and Grace proved to be very interesting. Faith was also a really good character. I felt so bad for her! Especially at the end.
The ending of this story will blow your mind! It was such a perfect ending. I couldn't have been happier! I am sad to see the series end but, I guess all good things come to an end. This was such a good series, I would recommend it to anyone!

Answers to Avid Readers 10 questions:
1. How long have you been a blogger?
I have been blogging since January 2012!!
2. What is your favorite book or series?
Wow, this is a hard question. I have so many favorites! Right now my favorite series would have to be M. Leightons Madly series.
3. Who is your favorite writer?
Again with the hard questions...I have many Jennifer Armentrout, M. Leighton, Samantha Young, Richelle Mead, HM Ward just to name a few. At this very moment I would have to say M. Leighton. I am on Madly overload haha!
4. If you were in an apocalypse what fictional character would you hope had survived with you? Someone who you think could help you survive. Now don't pick someone just because their hot.
My first thought was Thor...then I was like well its mostly because he's hot haha. So I would have to say Derek from the Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong. He is a fierce young werewolf who would lay his life down on the line for someone. He is also good to have in a fight or if something is coming after us haha!
5. Do you have any pets?
Sadly I do not :( I have always wanted a puppy...a fat fluffy one to be exact.
6. If you were stranded on a desert island. What is the one book that you would want to have with you?
If it was soon that I was stuck on said island it would be Onyx by Jennifer Armentrout..I need to know what happens haha!
7. How old were you when you first started reading?
Wow...probably the first Harry Potter book when I was 13.
8. What is your favorite mythical creature? You know like a vampire, a witch, a werewolf etc...
Vampire. It was the Twilight series that really got me going on that genre of books. Since that one I have enjoyed the Black Dagger Brotherhood too :)
9. What is your favorite genre(s)?
I would say YA, Romance, Paranormal Romance. It depends on the day haha.
10. Is blogging every thing you thought it would be when you first started blogging?
Yes, I was worried I would feel bad if I didn't have a lot of followers but, it has been a great way to get my thoughts about books out there! The authors have been really great. Its kind of my only hobby...next to reading of course.
My 10 Questions for you!
1. What was the first book you read to get you interested in reading?
2. If you could go anywhere on the planet where you go?
3. Which book of 2012 are you most looking forward to?
4. How long have you been blogging?
5. If you could have a relationship with any fiction character who would it be?
6. Do you have any other hobbies other then reading and blogging?
7. What is your hidden talent?
8. If you could have any book earlier then the release date which would it be?
9. What is your favorite genre(s)?

Title: The Rising
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Release Date: April 2013
Series Number: 3
Summary from Authors site:
Things are getting desperate for Maya and her friends. Hunted by the St. Clouds and a rival Cabal, they’re quickly running out of places to hide. And with the whole world thinking they died in a helicopter crash, it’s not like they can just go to the authorities for help.
All they have is the name and number of someone who might be able to give them a few answers. Answers to why they’re so valuable, and why their supernatural powers are getting out of control.
But Maya is unprepared for the truths that await her. And now, like it or not, she’ll have to face down some demons from her past if she ever hopes to move on with her life. Because Maya can’t keep running forever.
My Thoughts:
The Rising is part of the Darkness Rising Trilogy. It is a spin off of Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series which is one of my favorite series of all time! I know that this one doesn't come out for quite some time but, I love the first two books and can't wait for it to come out. I have a soft spot for these books because the Darkest Powers series was one of the first ones I read and I have read them numerous times. The Darkness Rising series is similar but, with different characters with different powers. It should be very interesting to see where this one goes!

Bane (Vampire Apocalypse #1) by H.M. Ward
Goodreads Summary:
The world as we know it is gone. The ice caps have melted and shifted south, devastating the northern territories and eradicating major cities such as New York and London, which are now under water and frozen.
Humans died off during an epidemic prior to the ice disaster, and many more died during the floods at the start of this new ice age. These events have forced vampires out of hiding. In order to ensure that their food source wouldn't completely die off, the vampires have sequestered the remaining humans into farms and taken control of all that remains of civilization. Over time, the humans breeding on these farms became anemic. Their blood no longer sustains the master race.
But not all of the humans were captured and sent to the farms. Some of the humans evaded the hunters, hiding in safe houses across the frozen tundra. As decades passed, the free humans disappeared, died, or were captured, until all that remains is one.
Kahli is the last wild human. BANE is her story.
My Review:
Bane kind of took me by surprise. It was completely different from any kind of vampire story I have ever read. The whole concept of the apocalypse is awesome then you throw in vampires and it makes it an even more amazing story. Kahli is probably one of my favorite female characters. She's strong and independent and can definitely survive on her own. She has a will to survive like no one I have ever read about. The concept of the Bane was really unique too. I would love to learn more about them!
Will is a very interesting character. He has a lot of secrets that young man. I am really curious to see what is going to happen with him. I have a few theories but, this book was unpredictable so I could be completely wrong! I also really enjoyed Cassie. She was a high spirited person and it was nice in such a dark place for humans.
This was probably one of my favorite books of this year so far. It was unique and I really liked that. It kept me on the edge of my seat and also left enough secrets to make the next book a MUST READ! So many questions left unanswered. Waiting to see what will happen next will be hard for me! So pick this one up people it looks like a very promising start to a new series!

It kept me on the edge of my seat and also left enough secrets to make the next book a MUST READ! So many questions left unanswered. Waiting to see what will happen next will be hard for me! So pick this one up people it looks like a very promising start to a new series!

Title: Cursed
Author: Jennifer Armentrout
Release Date: September 18, 2012
Series Number: 1
Goodreads Summary:
Dying sucks--and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.
Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?
But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.
My thoughts:
Jennifer Armentrout is probably one of my favorite authors. I will read anything she writes at this point haha! this book sounds amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on it! It sounds like a different kind of paranormal story and I am good with new ideas haha!

Madly and the Jackal by M. Leighton
Goodreads Summary:
How deep does love run? Deeper than the ocean? Deeper than memory? Deeper than magic?
Following their plan to save Atlas, Madly and Jackson return the spirit of Wolfhardt to his prison beneath the sea. But even the best laid plans couldn’t account for the surprises they find. This time, Lore aren’t their only challenges.
Madly is special in ways no one could have guessed and dark forces seek to control her. They want her power, but first they must weaken her. They need her beaten. Vulnerable. Near death. And alone. But that task isn’t an easy one with Jackson at her side. The strongest of their kind, the only way to separate Jackson from Madly is to destroy his love for her, to erase it from his mind. And his heart.
Is it possible to steal Jackson’s love from Madly? Or is their love the only truly unbreakable thing?
My Review:
This book blew my mind! Seriously I read it in less then 24 hours. I could not put it down. This book is a little more racy then book one and I am 100% ok with that! Madly's world is turned upside down as soon as they get to Atlas and realize how bad things are there for her family and her people. Madly has a strong sense of duty to protect them and do whatever she can for them. She is also very much in love! Jackson gives her incredible strength. Madly is so strong and it is that inner strength that she so desperately needed in this book.
Madly and the Jackal was a whirlwind of emotions. Madly and Jackson's relationship is so amazing! I went from super happy, to angry, to I want to punch something, then back to happy. It was crazy. I had to keep reading because I HAD to know what was going to happen. There were so many twists and turns that I was absolutely enthralled! Jersey was her typical blunt self and I loved every minute of it! She is the perfect best friend. She plays a crucial role in finding the descendant of Jackal and Hyde.
This story opened up a lot of new questions about what was going to happen with the Lore. It is a much bigger plot then I could have ever imagined. I am excited to see what happens next!! It promises to be very interesting. I love Jackson and Madly together and I hope it continues to be that way! They are perfect for each other! I have become very attached to these characters and want the best for them haha! Bring on the next book!!!!!! If you haven't read this series yet then you must!!

Intangible by J. Meyers
Goodreads Summary:
Twins Sera and Luke Raine have a well-kept secret—she heals with a touch of her hand, he sees the future. All their lives they’ve helped those in need on the sly. They’ve always thought of their abilities as being a gift.
Then Luke has a vision that Sera is killed. That gift they’ve always cherished begins to feel an awful lot like a curse. Because the thing about Luke’s ability? He’s always right. And he can’t do anything about it.
My Review:
I received this book from the author to review. I am so glad I got to! This book was awesome! I really enjoyed it. It had so many more paranormal elements then the summary leads you to believe! It brings in creatures that I don't see written about often. I also really liked how the book was from different character perspectives! It kind of kept the reader clued in on what was going on behind the scenes. The story flowed so well and kept me questioning what was going to happen next.
Sera and Luke's lives are not quite normal. I really like how Sera used her gifts to help those who really need it. I think that is the nurse in me! Some people truly have a healing touch! They do a pretty good job of hiding their gifts. I felt like Luke had a lot of weight on his shoulders after he has his vision about Sera's death. It is a huge worry for him that some day his sister is going to die. Will he be able to change the future?
Sera and Luke's relationship is awesome. It is one of the things that really stood out in this book. They care about each other so much and were willing to give their lives for each other. A truly awesome brother/sister relationship! Always there to have each others backs. I really liked the secondary characters here as well. Jonas, Fey, and Marc were very interesting characters. I hope that we continue to see them in future books! Especially Marc! I am so glad I got the chance to read this book! I can't wait to see what happens with this group of characters!

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
Goodreads Summary:
The second thrilling installment in Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy spinoff series
Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students--children of the wealthy and powerful--carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie, and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Richelle Mead's breathtaking Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive. In this second book, the drama is hotter, the romances are steamier, and the stakes are even higher.
My Review:
I was lucky enough to win an ARC of this book. I read it a few weeks ago and it was more they I expected!! I have grown to like Sydney more then I thought I would. She is a very likeable person. There were some points where I was like Sydney come on! He likes you!!! But, she has lived a sheltered life with they Alchemists. The book picks up pretty quickly after the first book ends. She is still worried about her weight and eats right most of the time. She is still very concerned about her work and wants to do things right to make her family see how good she is at what she does. I like that she stays who she is and doesn't change as much. Some of her views seem to be changing and she doesn't agree with everything her fellow Alchemists do. I hope this continues in later books!
Oh Adrian...I think I like him more then Dimitri which I never expected! He has grown into a pretty awesome guy. He's actually going to school and is good at art! The bond between him and Jill was funny at times in this book. I don't want to spoil it but, it was really funny when certain feelings would come through. He is fiercely loyal to his friends and willing to protect them. He goes to a self defense class with Sydney, which she needed trust me!
There are a lot of twists and turns in this book. Sydney even gets a boyfriend! We get to learn some very interesting things about people I never expected! What I thought was going to happen was so far off. The Golden Lily was an awesome read and I recommend it to everyone! Even if you haven't read Vampire Academy. Can't wait for the next one!

Title: Lies Beneath
Author: Anne Greenwood Brown
Release Date: June 12, 2012
Goodreads Summary:
Calder White lives in the cold, clear waters of Lake Superior, the only brother in a family of murderous mermaids. To survive, Calder and his sisters prey on humans, killing them to absorb their energy. But this summer the underwater clan targets Jason Hancock out of pure revenge. They blame Hancock for their mother's death and have been waiting a long time for him to return to his family's homestead on the lake. Hancock has a fear of water, so to lure him in, Calder sets out to seduce Hancock's daughter, Lily. Easy enough—especially as Calder has lots of practice using his irresistable good looks and charm on ususpecting girls. Only this time Calder screws everything up: he falls for Lily—just as Lily starts to suspect that there's more to the monsters-in-the-lake legends than she ever imagined. And just as his sisters are losing patience with him.
My Thoughts:
I am on a mermaid kick. I blame M. Leighton for this. The underwater world is so fascinating and I am just plain intrigued. Maybe it's because I was on the swim team in high school and love the water haha. The cover is also very nice. So I am anxiously awaiting this one! Enjoy the book trailer! Looks awesome!

ReVamped by Ada Adams
Goodreads Summary:
A simple mission turned deadly.
Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.
When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.
My Review:
This was a completely different kind of vampire book then I thought it would be. Most of the books I have read about vampires they are creepy and mysterious and drink only human or animal blood. I thought that a lot of the ideas in this book were very modern like Transylvania Shore and blood pop! Because come on in this day and age that would defiantly happen! The book also ties in some really cool things that I never saw coming! I don't want to The story was really inventive too. Dawn gets to live her dream by training a group of miss-fit vampires and truly prove how much she has trained and grown.
I really liked Dawn. I always like it when a girl can kick some serious butt! Dawn is not someone I would want to make mad or run into in a dark alley. She takes her work seriously and would do anything for her loved ones and friends. I think that is a very important characteristic for the female lead. Sebastian...I am kind of rooting for him! He seems like a very interesting character and it should be interesting to see where things go. Especially with how the book started.
It will be interesting to see what happens with this series. Especially with Aurora!

Goodreads Summary:
Millionaire Jack Gray earned his fortune creating erotic art
for a discerning clientele. He doesn’t use a brush to depict these hauntingly
beautiful portraits—he uses bare skin. A sterling reputation is the only thing
standing between Jack and poverty as he skirts the thin line between fine art
and cheap sensationalism. To ensure that his character remains beyond reproach,
an assistant observes his sessions.
While interviewing for a new assistant, Jack hears her
voice—Abby Tyndale—the girl who got away. The last time Jack saw her was over a
decade ago. After years of romantic tension she had nearly kissed him, but then
disappeared without a trace. He hasn’t seen her since. Until now. When he
learns that his lost love joined the clergy after she fled to West Texas, his
heart sinks. She’s forbidden, forever set apart by her vows.
Jack’s life quickly spins out of control as Abby grows
closer to him, and worsens when his client list is stolen. The financial blow
alone is damning, but it’s the scandal brewing beneath the surface that he
fears the most. Jack and Abby’s livelihoods rely on their reputations. A single
scandal will destroy them both. While fearing a contrived scandal, they have
courted a very real one as their romance reignites.
This erotic romance is an addictive tease that will leave
