Title: The Fault in our Stars
Author: John Green
Release Date: January 10, 2012
Series Number: 1
Goodreads Summary:
Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.
Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.
Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.
My Thoughts:
I'm not going to lie, this book has had me intimidated since I came across it. I'm so scared of a sad ending! I have to be in the right mood to read something like this. Have any of you read this one? I hope to get it soon.
I love this book! It really did make me cry -- buckets! -- but it's really quite beautiful and the characters are so wonderful! And it's not entirely bleak -- the characters are funny and smart and just so great. I hope you read it!!
ReplyDeleteI have this on my shelf but haven't read it. I've been putting it off. Thanks for stopping by My WW!
ReplyDeleteI completely understand putting this one off. I bought it last January and left it to sit on my shelf until about a month ago because I feared it'd be incredibly depressing, but it really isn't. Once I finally read it, I ended up loving it. There's a wonderful balance of pain and humor, thankfully. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this book either! I really need to get it eventually though.
ReplyDeleteOh let me know what you think of it and I hear a lot of great things about John Green but I have yet to pick up one of his books. This one sounds interesting! Thank you for commenting and congrats on the ARC!
ReplyDeleteIve read a ton of great reviews about this. I tend to stay away from books like these though, life is sad enough!! Hope you get it soon :)
ReplyDeleteOooho good pick! I really enjoyed this read. It wasn't as good as it's hyped up to be but I liked it a lot nevertheless :)
ReplyDeleteHope you get it soon!
I read this one earlier this year and thought it was a great read - hopefully you get to read it soon! Thanks for stopping by my WW :)
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read this book as well! Especially since I have heard that they are making it into a movie. I always try to read the books before the movie comes out. I hope we both get the chance to read this soon!
