Title: Stolen
Author: Melissa de la Cruz
Series Number: 2
Release Date: November 18, 2014

Amazon Summary:
Who is Eliza Wesson?

Months after Nat and Wes said good-bye on the shores of the Blue, Nat is learning how to control and use her new power. She and her drakon are the last of their kind—and she’s risked her life for their reunion. When she receives a mysterious distress call, she races to help, soliciting the guidance of her new friend, the beautiful and aloof Faix Lazaved of the Blue.

Still heartbroken over losing Nat, Wes is racing cars on a New Vegas racetrack while his team is scattered and lost. When he finds out that his sister, Eliza, is being held in the golden domes of El Dorado, he does what he’s best at—running to her side—and gambles on luck to see him through one more time.

Magic, romance, and danger collide as Nat and Wes become entangled in a dark new adventure that leads right to the heart of the mystery of their frozen, broken world. They soon discover that the answer to both their quests lies in the same question: Who is Eliza Wesson—what is she capable of, and why was she stolen from her family so long ago?

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed the first installment in this series. I am excited to get my hands on the next book. Let's be honest, when are dragons not cool?!?

Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:
Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

My Review:
Layla has not has an easy time since the battle and Roth being returned to Hell. She doesn't know if she will ever see him again. Her heart is broken. Lucky for Layla she still has Zayne. She is conflicted because of the feelings she has for him and the loss she is feeling for Roth. Then Layla's world is rocked again when Roth returns but, he is not the same. He no longer wants Layla and claims she was just a distraction. This makes her heart break even more. It also pushes her right into the arms of Zayne. The all to willing protector. Roth also brings news of a terrible creature potentially birthed from the events that took place at the end of White Hot Kiss. This monster can steal a sole with a simple touch. The race to find the Lilin is on! With Roth back in the picture who will Layla choose? Will they be able to find the Lilin or is there more going on then Layla knows?

Layla struggles with men in this book. She has feelings for Roth but, she has loved Zayne her whole life. Armentrout has a way of making you love both guys! I was team Roth in book 1 and now I am team Zayne! Why do you do this to me!? Zayne is amazing, perfect really. He deeply loves Layla and it took almost losing her to figure that out. There is the trouble of not being able to kiss him without sucking his soul out. Armentrout is letting the readers choose who Layla ends up with and honestly I have no idea who I am going to choose.

Roth is still broody and nice at the same time. He puts distance between him and Layla because he has to to keep her safe. He has more then one job since returning and Layla is in the dark about it. She can't know, it would change everything. Then when the Warden's turn on Layla after an accident Roth is there for her. I just don't know! I love them both. Can't she be with both!?!

The ending took me for surprise. A few things shocked in this book. Especially the Wardens. I am not sure I like them much anymore. So much has happened and I don't know where it will go from here. The end left us with quite the conflict. The next book couldn't come fast enough!!!

Secrets and Lies Vol. 2 by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
Rebound sex gone wrong, plus epically bad luck, lands me in a sticky spot--at the front of a classroom, naked, with the totally hot, totally forbidden Mr Sketch Pad. I'm not a model, but here I am feeling more drawn to him each second. Add in that sexy smile and I'm totally screwed.

Genre: New Adult Romance

This story unfolds over multiple volumes approx. 110 pgs each

My Review:
Kerry is an insanely spicy personality. She knows what she wants and isn't going to let anyone intimidate her. As proven by the previous volume where she agrees she is a serious artist by being the nude model for a class. She is trying to make a point and lets be honest she needs the money. Her relationships with her new friends are changing and she may have permanently damaged them at this point. After an interesting party where Emily got drugged and Kerry and Carter had to carry her home. Kerry walks in to the class where she is to be the model and is surprised to find her one night stand that didn't go so well! Turns out he is in the class and bonus now she has to sit naked for 3 hours in front of him. Will Kerry be able to do it or will she run?

The relationship between Kerry and Nathan is awesome. They have so much sexual tension you can practically see it. I have been waiting for them to meet up again. Although I didn't expect him to run into Kerry at class. I have to admit I was hoping they would give in to their lust filled attraction! Let's just say they kind of did. I want more!!

I know I say this a lot but, I have a bad feeling with the way this one ended. A huge conflict of interest is brought to life and I am not sure Kerry and Nathan can survive it. I need the next volume ASAP!

ARC Review of Loop by Karen Akins

Goodreads Summary:
At a school where Quantum Paradox 101 is a required course and history field trips are literal, sixteen year-old time traveler Bree Bennis excels…at screwing up.

After Bree botches a solo midterm to the 21st century by accidentally taking a boy hostage (a teensy snafu), she stands to lose her scholarship. But when Bree sneaks back to talk the kid into keeping his yap shut, she doesn’t go back far enough. The boy, Finn, now three years older and hot as a solar flare, is convinced he’s in love with Bree, or rather, a future version of her that doesn’t think he’s a complete pain in the arse. To make matters worse, she inadvertently transports him back to the 23rd century with her.

Once home, Bree discovers that a recent rash of accidents at her school are anything but accidental. Someone is attacking time travelers. As Bree and her temporal tagalong uncover seemingly unconnected clues—a broken bracelet, a missing data file, the art heist of the millennium—that lead to the person responsible, she alone has the knowledge to piece the puzzle together. Knowledge only one other person has. Her future self.

But when those closest to her become the next victims, Bree realizes the attacker is willing to do anything to stop her. In the past, present, or future.

My Review:
Loop takes place in the future. A future where there are genetic mutations that allows some people to travel through time. They go to a special school and have chips in their heads to help control symptoms of the time traveling. Of course it isn't as simple is going back in time and changing things. There are laws in place to prevent that. There are ways to monitor it. All the time travelers have the chips which prevent them from going crazy basically from the time travel. Bree is in school to learn how to travel and abide by the laws. This all changes when she is sent back 200 years and isn’t able to complete her midterm and breaks a few laws in the process. Not really on purpose but, it happens. This is when everything changes. When she goes back to deliver contraband, for profit, for a man she is shocked. Shocked because the boy she met in her last jump kisses her when he sees her, because her future self has been getting into trouble. Trouble that present state Bree can’t even fathom. Her life is about to turn upside down. Can she figure out what’s going on in time?

The boy Bree meets when the story opens is Finn. He is an annoying kid at the time. When Bree goes back to try to get the device she left in the past it is off by 3 years and Finn is older and…well…hot. I was so hoping for a great romance here but, I didn't really get it. Bree is so set against being with Finn. She pushes and pushes him away. It would have made things so much easier if she would have given in!! There was no romance until the end and it wasn't much. I understand its YA but, could have used more! Bree is stubborn and very set in her ways. I felt like she did a lot of stuff for herself rather than worrying about others and about the laws.

The world building took a while to get used to. There was a lot going on and it took me a while to catch on to everything, as a futuristic time traveling world would be. At the end of the book things started to make sense but, a lot of the twists with the future Bree left me confused. Like I said by the end I was like Ohhhhh yea that makes sense. What I don’t understand is if all the rules were broken anyway why wouldn’t Bree’s future self just leave all the information instead of such a big scavenger hunt? Unless she was being fallowed perhaps? I still have questions.

I enjoyed the story. I hope in the next book there is more connection between Finn and Bree. I will be reading book 2 for sure. I have so many questions still that need answers!!!

Arabella by Nicole Sobon

Goodreads Summary:
After twenty-something years living as a weapon for Bilson Corporations, I decided that I wanted something else for my life – something more.
I wanted more. But at what cost?
I wanted to belong to the world that I had been sworn to protect, to be more than a shadow amongst the night.
But my life was not my own to control.
I have made plenty of terrible mistakes in my life, but with each mistake comes a chance to start over, to make things right. And I will see to it that I do just that.

My name is Arabella, and I am more than a weapon.

My Review:
Arabella is not your average woman. She is a science experiment with modifications to make her a weapon but, she wants more for her life. She wants to go out in the real world and finally live. Living within the confines of Bilson Corporations is suffocating. Luckily Arabella has one person who is always there for her. In the field and inside bilson Corporations. Cole is also telepathic so he also knows what's going on with Arabella. Then everything changes. One mission that does not go according to plan. Arabella's life is about to be turned upside down. Everything she knew or thought she knew about her Father and Bilson Corporations has been a lie. What lengths is she willing to go to for the truth?

Cole was by far my second favorite character. He flirted a bit with Arabella but, nothing romantic happened between them. There was a mutual respect for each other. They were willing to go to great lengths to protect each other. They were partners when they were in the field. Cole's power allowed him to absorb Arabella's which made them a diabolical team. I loved their relationship, it was refreshing to see a girl and guy work so great together. Which is a good thing because the night they walk into the Horde head on they will need each other to survive. Will they be able to get away or is the Horde to great an adversary?

This was a great fast read. Arabella is a strong female character that I enjoyed reading about. I know this is a stand alone but, I would love to see more from her world!

ARC Review of One Condition by Nova Raines

Goodreads Summary:
The Lust List - Take Your Pick
They're the world's sexiest bachelors. The men of ScandalLust mag's infamous Lust List are young, wealthy, and, oh, did we mention? HOT.

When scandal follows them everywhere, there’s no hiding from the cameras.

They're irresistible, insatiable—and talented in all the right ways. Every woman wants them. But these playboys won't be easy to catch...

Hayley Wade’s rock star dad just partied himself into an early grave and left Hayley with a pile of dangerous debt. She plans to pay it off, but her drug-addled father wrote an impossible task into his will: to inherit his wealth, Hayley must steal back a family heirloom he lost to a gold digger.

Kaidan Stone grew up surrounded by the world’s biggest stars, but never wanted to be in the limelight. When he makes The Lust List, he becomes America’s newest celebrity obsession overnight.

After Kaidan saves Hayley from a run-in with the aggressive paparazzi, sparks fly, and she discovers the heirloom is in his California mansion. It’s the answer to all her problems…but she’ll have to betray Kaidan to get it.

My Review:
I whipped through this book in a day. I got caught up in Hayley's life. Her rock star father recently passed away. She never really knew her Dad but, him dying is still a hard blow to take. All the media attention is starting to get to Hayley and she just wants to be left alone. After finding out about her dads stipulation to her getting her inheritance she leaves her lawyers office and runs into a crowd of photographers and reporters. Luckily for her a hot guy saves her and drags her to his car. Hayley doesn't know that this is the super hot playboy Kaidan Stone. She thought the photographers were there for her. But, when an article is published in the ScandalLust  magazine she is socked. Worst of all she was attracted to this man. Will she ever see him again? Does she want more attention drawn to her?

The stipulation in Hayley's dads inheritance was for her to get a diamond  back from an ex-fiancee. This proves to be difficult since the woman wears in in a necklace all the time! This little problem takes a back seat to her growing attraction to Kaidan. She runs into him at a club and things get heated in more way then one. A hot make out session and the appearance of Kaidans ex-girlfriend. I was a little disappointed with Hayley's friends throughout this book. They seemed to care more about making something for themselves then actually helping Hayley deal.

Lucking for Hayley, Kaidan get's in touch with her and invites her to a party at his dads house. Where Hayley see's her Dad's ex! How convenient! Maybe she can get the diamond back. She gets side tracked however by sexy Kaidan and things take a turn for the sexy. Which I loved! They are pretty sexually compatible. That is until Kaidan does the one thing that would turn a woman off is less then a second. Will Kaidan be able to recover from this mistake or will Hayley run?

This was a very fast read and I loved every minute of it. Now I will anxiously await the next book that comes out in December! That may be to far!

ARC Review of Defect Part Two by Autumn Kalquist

Goodreads Summary:
I never asked them to make me this way.

The corporation that gave me superimmunity called me Protected. But then the truth came out, and I lost my freedom. I’m a genetic experiment gone wrong.

Damaged.
Broken.
Defective.

Now the Corporate Coalition hunts me and those like me, and I’ve stayed hidden off-grid for eight years. But I can’t hide forever.

Something else is happening, something worse than every mistake made before.
And if I have to fight to survive…I’ll fight ‘til I die.

The Corporate Coalition will never take me alive.

My Review:
This novella series is one of the best I have read. This is only the second volume and I am hooked! It draws you in right away and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Defect Part two picks up right where part one left off. The criminals who came to Selene's house and took everything they had have left trouble in their wake. Selene wants to go after them but, quickly figures out she can't. She can't leave her loved ones. When the police show up to their house. They want to take Selene in for questioning. That is a problem given what she is. A Protected. She knows she must leave her family in order to protect them. To what lengths will Selene go to protect her family? Who can she trust when so much is at stake?

Luckily for us Anders makes an appearance! When Selene needs him the most he is there to help her. He promises to help get her family away and keep them safe. Selene fees like she can trust him given what he has done for her already. I am not convinced quite yet that he is going to be able to help her but, I think he is a good guy. I will be sad if he turns out not to be!

Unfortunately, things are far worse then they seem. The quarantine is spreading and Selene's family has been exposed to the "flu virus". One that the government says they can cure. This is not the case. The government is hiding things. They are not telling the truth about the sickness, how it was started, and how bad it is. What would you do if your family was at risk? For Selene they are in more danger then everyone else given her and Eli's Protected status. Will she be able to save her family?

I am loving this series so far. Yes, they are novellas but, I personally love them. Defect Part Two was a fast action packed read and I can't wait for the next one!!

BLOG TOUR! Souls by Ednah Walters

SOULS

WARNING: This is CORA'S story: This book may be considered NA (new adult) because it contains some swearing, violence and sex scenes: Suitable for ages 17 and up. A Clean Version will also be available on Amazon.

Eighteen-year-old Cora Jemison knows what it’s like to date a soul reaper. There are no Friday night movies, no school dances, and no stolen kisses between classes. It totally sucks! What makes it even worse, souls pop up when she least expects it. The last one is not her fault, but it all adds up to zero quality time with her super hot, scythe-carrying boyfriend, Echo.

Since Cora was etched with special runes by an evil Immortal, she understands why souls are drawn to her. She makes the best of it by helping souls find closure while Echo escorts them to the realm of the dead. Perfect partners, until a dark soul visits Cora in the dead of the night and Echo decides her soul-helping days are over.

Cora can either listen to Echo or follow her instincts. To make matters worse, other reapers start stalking her, demanding she hand over the soul. Even her Valkyrie friends think she’s gone too far. But something sinister is coming their way, and the soul is the key to saving her town, her friends, and her relationship with Echo. Can she convince Echo to see things her way before it’s too late?

Review
I simply can't get enough of Echo and Cora. They have become 2 of my favorite characters! Cora has had a rough year. things are starting to get back to normal. Well, as normal as it could get for since she had runes drawn on her and started dating a soul reaper. She has started to understand how she can help souls that seek her out and why they are drawn to her. Sometimes they come when she really doesn't want to deal with anything. This makes a normal life difficult. Especially when dark souls enter the picture. Dark souls can be dangerous. They can destroy a mortal and leave them dead. Can they do this to Cora too? It doesn't help that Echo and this dark soul have a history and not a good one. To what lengths will Echo go to keep Cora safe? Is this first dark soul just the first of many?

I love that we still get to see a lot of the characters from the Runes series. I have really enjoyed that one as well. If I didn't get my regular Torin and Raine fix things could get ugly. So I am glad the two series overlap. They all must work together now. With Cora getting so protective of this particular dark soul she puts herself in more danger. Enough so to attract more Grimnirs to her. What will Cora risk so that this dark souls story can be heard? Is he simply using her or does he have pure intentions?

We get our fix of hot Cora and Echo moments too! YAY! These two are so perfect for each other. They have a sizzling romance that keeps you wanting more. I am glad this was more of a NA version of their story. I like my stories with a little more to them! These two love each other so much. Could this dark soul from Echo's past leave Cora with doubts? She knows how Echo is and what he has done it the past but, could this soul make her question her trust?

I loved this book! Things just keep heating up for this group. You would think one dark soul would be enough to deal with. Unfortunately for them he is just the beginning of what is coming. Can everyone come together to save Cora? You'll have to read the book!

Question of the Week
Share the song you can't stop listening to - Suggested by Journey Through Fiction
I have the song Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj stuck in my head. I have been listening to it a lot lately. I love the beat and it is so fun! If I have a bad day at work I listen to it all the way home and it just makes me happy! The music video is kinda weird but, I still love the song!

Title: The Cure for Dreaming
Author: Cat Winters
Series Number: 1
Release Date: October 14, 2014

Goodreads Summary:
Olivia Mead is a headstrong, independent girl—a suffragist—in an age that prefers its girls to be docile. It’s 1900 in Oregon, and Olivia’s father, concerned that she’s headed for trouble, convinces a stage mesmerist to try to hypnotize the rebellion out of her. But the hypnotist, an intriguing young man named Henri Reverie, gives her a terrible gift instead: she’s able to see people’s true natures, manifesting as visions of darkness and goodness, while also unable to speak her true thoughts out loud. These supernatural challenges only make Olivia more determined to speak her mind, and so she’s drawn into a dangerous relationship with the hypnotist and his mysterious motives, all while secretly fighting for the rights of women. Winters breathes new life into history once again with an atmospheric, vividly real story, including archival photos and art from the period throughout.

My Thoughts:
The cover caught my eye and the summary sounds great. My kind of book for sure!

ARC Review of Alex by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary:
Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

My Review:
I love hockey books! I am so glad Sawyer Bennett decided to write some!! Alex has had a rough life. He hasn’t become the jerk he is by choice. He is considered the MVP or Most Valuable Prick of the team. The fans don’t really like him and his team mates don’t know him. It’s sad really how alone he is in his life. No personal connections he is just living his life and playing hockey. It’s the first sports themed book I have read where the sports player doesn’t particularly like playing anymore. That’s how bad it is. He is one of the best in the league though so what do you do? Send him to do a drug awareness program with kids! Alex is tested with this task because he doesn’t want to do it. Then he meets Sutton and everything changes. Could this woman change his jerkish ways or is he destined to be alone and unhappy?

Sutton is the opposite of Alex. She is a counselor who works with many different people. She is the perfect person to do the drug awareness project. She loves what she does even though it is hard sometimes. She has dealt with a bad family situation that involved drugs so she is good at what she does. She isn’t too thrilled when Alex walks in her door. Especially after the warning she received from his coach about his behavior. She is also attracted to this guy. I mean he is hot so that instant attraction thing makes sense. Could this turn into something more or will Alex come through on his promise to break her heart?

These two were so fun to read about. I loved Sutton’s family. Her broth especially was awesome and Alex was great with him when he was around. Sutton has worked hard for what she has and is proud of it. She didn’t come from money. Alex’s lifestyle is so different to her. Although she learns that he’s not flashy about his money either. After they spend time together and Alex’s past starts coming to the surface Sutton’s opinion of him changes. The sexual tension between these two is thick but, there are a lot of obstacles. They do have some pretty hot romance scenes though! I mean wow.  They are so good together then the past and insecurities rear their ugly heads. I hated how Alex let his Dad manipulate him. I was like WHY! Why would you let him get in your head like that! He’s an ass!!! Do these two have a future together or will they be alone?

This was a great and fast read. I loved the hockey components but, they were not the focus. The romance was well written too. This is a great start to another series for Sawyer Bennett!!

Goodreads Summary:
At 21, Calla hasn’t done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she'd left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.
