The Wild Ones by M. Leighton

Goodreads Summary:

Passion as hot as midnight in the South and love as wild as the horses they tame.

Camille “Cami” Hines is the darling daughter of the South’s champion thoroughbred breeder, Jack Hines. She has a pedigree that rivals some of her father’s best horses. Other than feeling a little suffocated at times, Cami thought she was pretty happy with her boyfriend, her life and her future.

But that was before she met Patrick Henley.

“Trick” blurs the lines between what Cami wants and what is expected of her. He’s considered the “help,” which is forbidden fruit as far as her father is concerned, not to mention that Trick would be fired if he ever laid a hand on her. And Trick needs his job. Desperately. His family depends on him.

The heart wants what the heart wants, though, and Trick and Cami are drawn to each other despite the obstacles. At least the ones they know of.

When Trick stumbles upon a note from his father, it triggers a series of revelations that could ruin what he and Cami have worked so hard to overcome. It turns out there’s more to Trick’s presence at the ranch than either of them knew, secrets that could tear them apart.

My Review:
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book. This was probably one of my favorite of M. Leighton's books. And look at that cover!! I mean seriously! Cami's story was very entertaining. She was a spunky normal girl. She was your average college girl that liked to go to the bar with her friends. It was someone you could really relate to. The same pressures in life that most people deal with and a few more because of who her family was. Trick was not the right someone according to her family. And what isn't more fun then some naughty forbidden love!

I really liked the relationship between Cami and Trick. It's kind of the relationship that everyone dreams about. The sexy stable hand who daddy said not to touch. Well that should be one thing that all Dad's should know at this point...that only makes it worse! Although there are huge obstacles in their relationship and secrets rip them apart. Will the easy life with the "perfect" boyfriend win out over the harder relationship??? You'll have to read to find out! Trust me you want to! There is a fare share of steamy moments! But, between who I will never tell!

This is a must read people and its official release date is August 1, 2012 however Amazon has released it TODAY! Get your hands on it because it will not disappoint you! Yet another amazing book from M. Leighton!

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Goodreads Summary:

The demon Lilith has been destroyed and Jace freed from captivity. But when the Shadowhunters arrive, they find only blood and broken glass. Not only is the boy Clary loves missing, so is the boy she hates: her brother Sebastian, who is determined to bring the Shadowhunters to their knees.

The Clave's magic cannot locate either boy, but Jace can't stay away from Clary. When they meet again Clary discovers the horror Lilith's magic has wrought - Jace and Sebastian are now bound to each other, and Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other.

Only a few people believe that Jace can still be saved. Together, Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle bargain with the sinister Seelie Queen, contemplate deals with demons, and turn at last to the merciless, weapon-making Iron Sisters, who might be able to forge a weapon that can sever the bond between Sebastian and Jace. If the Iron Sisters can't help, their only hope is to challenge Heaven and Hell - a risk that could claim their lives.

And they must do it without Clary. For Clary is playing a dangerous game utterly alone. The price of losing not just her own life, but Jace's soul. She's willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost? What price is too high to pay, even for love?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

My Review:
It took me a awhile to finally read this book. I was really worried that the series was going to start going down hill and I would be disappointed. However, I was NOT disappointed after finishing it! This was probably my favorite of the series so far actually. It seemed to me that everyone was a little happier in this one and acted more like adults. Clary has grown so much since the first book. I am so happy that she is starting to be a Shadow hunter wick kick butt skills! She is able to fight for those she loves now. She has had kind of a rough go and I am starting to think that her and Jace will never get a chance to be happy.

I felt really bad for Clary at certain parts because she loves Jace so much but, it's not really him. You will have to read the book to know what I mean by that. To have the person you love right next to you but, for them to not really "be there" would be so hard. I also really liked Jordan and Maia's story! It's about time some one got a little action in these books!!! I really like Simon too and Isabelle is still an awesome chick! Alec still manages to drive me crazy and he's going to have to grow up soon or he will lose everything.

The ending left me really excited for the next book! I am sad that the next book doesn't come out until March of 2014!! How am I suppose to wait that long for the conclusion....I have no idea. But, the title, City of Heavenly Fire, makes so much more sense now!

Trying to Score by Toni Aleo

Goodreads Summary:
Fallon Parker’s dream was to have her family’s wine company at the top of all wine magazines and to have a cellar of her own. After graduating from college, she has worked hard to make that dream a reality, even if that meant having a nonexistent love life. She had her chance at love and that was a bust, so she put everything into the wine company. After becoming the official sponsor of the Nashville Assassins, Fallon finally feels like everything is falling in place, that is until Lucas Brooks comes back into her life.

Lucas Brooks hates his life. He is lonely, he is sober, and he is angry. On the ice, when he’s not in the sin bin, he the leading scorer in the NHL but off the ice, he is a mess. He threw away the most important person in his life, and has regretted it ever since but when Lucas sees Fallon again after being traded to the Assassins; he is bound and determined to get her back. Even if she wants nothing to do with him.

The sexual tension between Fallon and Lucas is electrifying as Lucas tries to convince Fallon that he is a changed man. Fallon tries to resist Lucas, but it is so hard when all her body wants is his. But when Lucas finds out that Fallon has been keeping a huge secret from him, the game he is playing stops and penalties are called.

With new rules and new players on the ice, will Fallon and Lucas be able to work out their differences and work as a team or will they be left trying to score alone.

My Review:
I read this book in a day and had to put my reviews up of book 1 and 2 on the same day because I couldn't put them down. Fallon's story was so different from Elli's but, I still felt connected to her! She was an amazing person and someone to look up to. I'm so glad that we still go to see Shea and Elli too. It was great how everyone kind of interacted. It's a more real life romance rather then a crazy one. It didn't start out as anything I thought it would. Fallon has a broken heart in the beginning and someone from her past is coming back into her life. Which turns her life upside down.

Lucas is not your typical hero male hero in this romance. He has some issues and kind of a rocky past. I kind of felt bad for him throughout this book. But I also saw the situation from Fallon's point of view too. They both had valid points. He was so sweet to her even when Fallon wasn't easy to handle.

I really enjoyed Fallon's sister as well. She seems like an awesome sister! Her and Fallon have such an awesome relationship. I have never had a sister but, if I did I would want her to be like her. An honest yet supportive person. I actually got teary a few times while reading. I blame the sweetness/cuteness of Aidan! He was probably one of my favorite characters!

I can't wait for Empty Net to come out! I need to read this book. I can't wait to read about Audrey's story. It should be awesome.

Taking Shots by Toni Aleo (18+ Review)

Goodreads Summary:
Elli Fisher has never thought she was good enough. Let it be her job, her weight, her love life, nothing, she was convinced she couldn’t do anything right. She had walked through life for the past six years in a daze, never thinking that life could be good again after the abuse she endured from her ex boyfriend. She is lonely, sad, and depressed, that is until she meets Shea Adler. After doing a promotional shoot for the NHL team, the Nashville Assassins, she meets the hunky hockey player who shoots a puck, shattering her world.
Shea Adler was tired of the life he was living outside of the rink. The girls, the money blowing, the drinking, everything had to stop and it all did when he met Eleanor Fisher. He had never met anyone like her. She is feisty, witty, shy, and simply gorgeous. When he laid eyes on her, it was as if he was taking the hardest hit of his life into the boards, and he had to have her.
Elli is a little skeptical of Shea, but he knows that they were meant to be together, and he needed her in his life. But Elli just doesn’t understand what Shea could see in her. She is overweight, loud, and not even that pretty, so why would someone so gorgeous and so amazing want to be with her? It seemed that no matter how hard she tried to shake Shea off, he wasn’t going anywhere, and for the first time Elli didn’t feel alone.
But could Elli throw her insecurities out the window and love Shea with everything inside of her? Or will she let a past relationship, and her family ruin any chance of her being happy?

Would Elli miss her shot at love?

My Review:
I heard about these books on Twitter. When I was tweeting during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Once I got my hands on this book I couldn't put this book down. I know its completely different from my usual paranormal books but, I LOVE hockey! How could I not read a romance book that involved hockey! I stayed up way to late before going to work to read this book and it was worth it. I felt so much for Elli. Her story was heart braking. The way she struggled with her insecurities and had a hard time showing herself to Shea. It was like reading about myself! Minus the super hot hockey player romance part haha. I felt so connected to Elli and I had to know what happened. I wanted her to be happy.

Shea is the perfect specimen of man. Seriously, if there were like a million of him there would be way more successful relationships in this world. There were parts that left me wanting to jump through the pages and slap Elli. Like "Stop using your head and use your heart woman!!" I loved how it went back and forth between Elli and Shea's point of views to so you could see what was going on between from both points of view.

I have already got the next book and already finished it! That review will be up next. This has become one of my favorite series! If you haven't read this series you have to!!

The world as we know it is gone. The ice caps have melted and shifted south, devastating the northern territories and eradicating major cities such as New York and London, which are now under water and frozen.

Humans died off during an epidemic prior to the ice disaster, and many more died during the floods at the start of this new ice age. These events have forced vampires out of hiding. In order to ensure that their food source wouldn't completely die off, the vampires have sequestered the remaining humans into farms and taken control of all that remains of civilization. Over time, the humans breeding on these farms became anemic. Their blood no longer sustains the master race.

But not all of the humans were captured and sent to the farms. Some of the humans evaded the hunters, hiding in safe houses across the frozen tundra. As decades passed, the free humans disappeared, died, or were captured, until all that remains is one. Kahli is the last wild human. BANE is her story.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Goodreads Summary:

One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

My Review:
After getting through Divergent so quickly had immediately got Insurgent for my Kindle. I am sooo glad I did! I found myself again reading late into the night and finishing this book in about two days.  Tris goes through more life changing events in Insurgent. To me it seemed like she had a harder time dealing with her parents deaths they she expected to. Insurgent brings up a lot of important issues when it comes to war. Tris also has to deal with those closest to her bending the truth. This goes to show that no matter the faction everyone has secrets. Especially those you love and trust. No matter how perfect a society may seem there is bound to be conflict. It is human nature. Tris had to decide where her loyalties are and sometimes it is against those you love.

Tris and Tobias are having some trouble with their relationship through Insurgent. Loyalties and trustworthiness are tested. Tris came into her own person in Insurgent. Even to the point where it scared her. I felt the same way Tobias did in that regard. She was continually throwing her life into dangerous situations. I was like NO! Stop doing stupid things!!! I felt for Tobias, he was really worried about her. It will be interesting to see where things go from here.

The ending was definitely a cliffhanger! Some major information was released at the end of the book and things are about to change forever. So many questions are in my head and I need answers! So book 3 can come out any time now!!!

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Goodreads Summary:

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves… or it might destroy her.

Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

My Review:
I have to admit that I was worried about this series and that's why it took me so long to read it. This series was so talked about I was worried it would be a let down. Wow, was I wrong. I got sucked into this world and couldn't put it down. I read it in 2 days and stayed up well into the night just to keep reading! Dystopian novels are a new territory for me. The Hunger Games were the only other ones that I have read. Divergent was soooo different but, very thought provoking at the same time. I was drawn to the Dauntless and Abnegation groups. They seemed really interesting to me. I needed to learn more!!! Tris is a very strong female character. And being a female myself I love it! It took time for her to learn to learn skills she didn't just come out awesome. The concept of Divergence was really interesting to. I honestly had no idea what it meant. I think that's why this genre is so appealing. It's so different that you never know whats coming!

Four was probably one of my favorite characters aside from Tris. He seemed to be striving for what was right and not just being savage like Eric. My favorite part was probably Four's fear landscape with Tris. It was something so personal and more intimate then you would think.

I can't wait to see what happens in Insurgent. I have already got it for my Kindle and will start it as soon as I am done with this post!

Title: Requiem
Author: Lauren Oliver
Release Date: Spring 2013
Series Number: 3

Goodreads Summary:

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight. Of Pandemonium, ALA Booklist noted that “like all successful second volumes, this expands the world and ups the stakes, setting us up for the big finale.”

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

My Thoughts:
I have really enjoyed the Delirium series! I think that it is such a unique story where love is considered a disease that kills people! so different from anything  I have ever read. I was hooked instantly. I looking forward to the third book in the series considering how the second one ended!!! I was like speechless at the ending and didn't want to book to be done. I am sad that it doesn't come out until the Spring of 2013!!! That's sooooo far away! I guess I have no choice but to anxiously wait for this book....

Awry (The Archers of Avalon #2) by Chelsea Fine

Goodreads Summary:
Sometimes love is meant to be. But sometimes...love is the death of you....

Seventeen-year-old Scarlet has just died. Only, dying isn't unusual for a girl under a centuries old curse that left her semi-immortal.

This time, though, she comes back to her current life instead of awaking in a new one, and she realizes the curse is changing. Together with the immortal Archer brothers, Scarlet must piece together her life and try to break the curse before her impending death comes again.

IF you have not read the first book in the series my reviw may contain spoliers!

My Review:
I must say first off that I was blown away by this book. I felt like I was reading two stories with the flashbacks to Scarlet's first life. This book picks up right where the first one left off. Right after Scarlet gets shot by the arrow! It is a crazy roller coaster ride from that point on. The book was so well written with the transitions between the regular chapters and the past. They revealed just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and dying to keep reading!

I will say that after this one I am completely Team Tristan!! His love for Scarlet transcends time! Obviously haha! It was so nice to see their back story to see how they met and how Scarlet ended up engaged to Gabriel. I want for them to be together so bad! A lot of new information is revealed in this book and I hate to say it but, they kind of have a long road ahead of them it seems. But, I hope for the best!

So the one thing that I kind of need to know is what happens!!! The book ended and I was like O_O NOO!!! That can't be the ending!!!! I guess I have nothing to do but wait for book 3 to come out. Which hopefully is sooner rather then later.
