ARC Review of The Proposition Vol. 4 by H.M. Ward (18+)

Goodreads Summary:
Blackmail. Sex. Ferro.

There are some mistakes that are too big to fix. I'll never recover from this one. Damn it, I called Bryan an addict and treated him worse. Maybe it was wrong for him to approach me the way he did. Maybe it wasn't right for Bryan to just take what he wanted, consequences be damned. I can't blame him, though--not now that I know the truth.

Genre: New Adult Romance
This story unfolds over five volumes approx. 125 pages each.

My Review:
Volume 4 wow! Oh, the suspense!! What the heck is going on with Bryan?! I have been dying to know for some time now. Volume 4 was no different. It picks up right where Volume 3 left off. With Bryan passed out after a fit of pain followed by alcohol. Hallie is very worried about Bryan. She tries to lie to him by telling him they both got drunk and he passed out but, Bryan knows her better then that. He knows that Hallie now suspects that something is seriously wrong with him. Although the sex between these two does an amazing job of keeping you distracted from the big issues. What is wrong with Bryan? Will Hallie ever find out?

I am glad Neil wasn't around much. Just enough for me to hate him more then I did before. What he did with Hallie's money was NOT ok! Ugh, he is just a creep and I really hope he is not who Hallie ends up with.

Things between Hallie and Bryan heat up to a whole new level in this one. Seriously...Just when I thought they were done, they started all over again. Holy crap...a cold shower was needed! Even though the sex was a huge part of this one there are important things that happen too. Hallie finally finds out what is going on with Bryan and his health. It was actually a bitter sweet moment. I am hoping that the walls up between these two will crumble now. They deserve to be happy with whatever time they have left.

AHH!! I have no idea what is going to happen with these two! I so want a happy ending for them but, I don't think its going to happen. I guess we will have to see what Volume 5 has in store for us and hopefully soon!

Wraithsong by E.J. Squires

Goodreads Summary:
Seventeen-year-old Sonia is in her senior year when she realizes that she is even more different from her friends than she thought. One day there’s an incident with her and another student, proving she has the same ability to control people as her mom. Though she has had a few similar experiences before, this incident verifies exactly how different she is.

Things really begin to change when Sonia meets a senior named Anthony. Soon she finds herself consumed by him—which is shocking—because she’s just not one to fall in love. Anthony is handsome and mysterious, but that’s not what drives Sonia crazy. While other guys usually fight for her attention, Anthony doesn't even give her the time of day. And even stranger yet, her ability to control people doesn't work on him. Little does Sonia know that he keeps a deep secret too, and that that very secret holds the answer to who she really is.

With only a few weeks left of school, horrible things happen: Three of Sonia’s cousins, living in another state, are killed, and Sonia’s mom vanishes without a trace.

Anthony tells Sonia that her mom has been taken to an invisible island called Wraithsong, and that his mother is the abductor. To save her mom’s life, Sonia is forced to accept Anthony’s help and travels with him to find the island, but when Anthony’s mother discovers they are working against her, she sends someone to kill Anthony and capture Sonia.

My Review:
This was such a unique story. I have never read a book about Huldra's. I was instantly drawn into Sonia's world. She is almost 18 and knows she is different. Her mom is very secretive about what Sonia is and what her powers are. Sonia knows her saliva does weird things to people. I felt so bad for Sonia. She was in the dark and didn't know why it was so important not to use her powers. Imagine being 17 and not being allowed to kiss a boy. Especially when Anthony comes along, a gorgeous guy that she has to spend detention with after standing up to her bully.

After spending time with him she knows something is different, but what could it be? She is living in dangerous times. Her Mom's sisters, she didn't even know about, are missing. Something is wrong in the world that Sonia isn't even allowed to know about. Sonia's life is about to change. Her trust in people will be questioned. Will she make the right choice?

Anthony is the guy who captures Sonia's heart. She is drawn to him. Something that has never happened to her before. First he is nice to her then he's mean. Eventually he ends up asking her out. His intentions are not quite innocent however. They have some pretty intense romantic encounters too. He is there for her even after her mom is taken. Sonia's trust in Anthony is truly tested. Will Anthony prove to Sonia how much he truly cares about her?

I really liked this book. I love any kind of mythology so it was right up my alley. I am very thankful that the author offered me a copy for review. I am looking forward to the next installment of this series!

Goodreads Summary:
Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

Question of the week
Have any pets? Tell us or show us.
I have never had a pet :( My brother played hockey so when we were kids we were gone a lot and it didn't feel right to leave an animal locked up at home for weekends. When I get a house though I would like a Corgi puppy!!! They are adorable and I just love them :)
Who wouldn't love this little fluff ball?
They fall asleep like this at times, just so cute!

Title: Alienated
Author: Melissa Landers
Series Number: 1
Release Date: February 4, 2014

Goodreads Summary:
Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

My Thoughts:
I like aliens! I have seen this one around a lot too and have heard good things about it. I am always willing to give things a try and this is one I hope to get! Anyone read this one?

Last Call, #2
Adult Contemporary Romance

Released April 21, 2014

Amazon | Barnes and Noble | iBooks

Brody Markham has endured a nightmare, spending the last five years in prison and losing everything that was dear to him. Now he’s back home, trying to survive in a world he doesn’t recognize anymore. While his family and friends desperately try to reach through to him, he shelters himself further and further away from their love.

Alyssa Myers has worked her entire life to distance herself from the luxurious and privileged lifestyle in which she was raised. Running her non-profit agency, The Haven, she is content to spend her days helping abused animals find sanctuary, which fulfills her in a way that money just can’t buy.

Maybe it’s that she recognizes in Brody some of the same characteristics she sees in her homeless wards, but Alyssa is powerless to stop her personal quest to make Brody whole again.

While Brody struggles to surface from the darkness, Alyssa tries to protect her heart in case he’s not willing to accept the light that she offers him.

*MAKE IT A DOUBLE can be read as a stand-alone*

My Review
Brody and Alyssa’s story is not your typical lovey dovey, knight in shining armor story. Brody is damaged goods. After being in jail for 5 years after killing a man, he isn’t the same. He is closed off and rude at times. He doesn’t know how to live in the real world anymore. Brody’s ex also didn’t help the situation. He is afraid to love. While trying to transition back into the real world he helps Alyssa out at her home for stray animals. He actually likes it more then he thought he would and he is great with the animals. Alyssa does her best with him but, he is hard to crack. Over the days when he is there helping his shell starts to crack. Could Alyssa be doing it? Can these two actually have something?

There are a lot of secrets between them. Brody has a huge one! I never saw it coming at all. I mean it is life changing. Alyssa also has her issues with her stalker ex- boyfriend who is a butt. They are pretty good for each other, despite their pasts. Brody is a good man, he just has to start realizing it himself. He doesn’t give himself enough credit. We still get to see Gabby and Hunter too!! I loved their story so I was glad to see them in this one too. Also the twins sister Casey is always fun to read about.

Most of the issues here come from Ex drama. Both Brody and Alyssa have terrible ex’s. They change the game. They have hurt Brody and Alyssa badly but, in different ways. Just awful people. The romance between Brody and Alyssa is scorching.

I loved this book and I can’t wait for the next one in this series. Sawyer Bennett’s writing is simply amazing and he ability to write amazing stories is great. Go get this one people!!

ARC Review of Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins

Goodreads Summary:
It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

My Review:
I was soooo excited to get an ARC of this book! I have loved this series and am sad to see it end but, the finale was wonderful! Action packed and full of romance and action! I literally read it in one day. We get thrown back into the lives of Kaidan and Anna. Things are a little crazy after the Summit and they are all basically under investigation. Anna specifically because she still had a pure  heart due to her virginity. There is a lot less "working" for the gang this time. Things are getting serious. Everyone's lives are going to change. The Neph have had enough and want to choose what to do with their lives. In order to do this they must go up against them. Defy everything they are suppose to do. Not everyone will survive the war that is coming. The group will learn what it is like to loose what they live but, also gain something they never had. Will Anna and Kaidan get their happily ever after or are they all destined to die?

OMG! Anna and Kaidan. I sooo love them!! They are amazing with each other. They have so much going on. Kaidan finally shows his true feelings to Anna and it is beautiful. I'm not sure what they would do without each other. There is a serious amount of romance between them too. Wow, lets just say that things on the romance front happened in a way I never saw coming. The same goes for Marna and Jay. Their story was so beautiful yet tragic at the same time. I cried for them...seriously.

The other characters were great. Kope and Zania were great too. In a shy love kind of way haha. Ginger and Blake were great too. I really enjoyed their relationship. Anna's Father/daughter relationship is super cute too. Her and her dad truly love each other. Her human Mom too.

I am sad to see this story end. I am in love with these characters and don't want to see them go but, the ending was satisfying. Kind of bitter sweet but, I can see why it had to be done. Go get this one when it comes out people!!!

Question of the week
Spring Break. Where would be your favorite destination spot if you could join the Spring Break festivities?
Since I never actually got a Spring Break while in college, I would go somewhere tropical. I always worked over Spring Break in school to make extra money since it was a full week. So I now feel the need to go to a tropical beach for a week and party haha. Somewhere with an ocean view like Florida or something!

Excerpt
Tangled in the Laces by Toni Aleo

When the song ended, Karson stopped moving and slowly lifted his hands up to frame her face, his eyes searching hers. Softly, he said, “I can’t sing for shit, but I will pay to have someone sing to you. I don’t dance well, but I’ll do it just for the chance to touch you. I’m not one to listen to guys sing to find the perfect song for a girl, but I did for you. Most of all, I don’t usually pour my heart out to a person in front of a full coffee shop because I’m not that much of a romantic, but for you, I’d do it all. I’d do anything to be with you, and I’ve waited for someone like you my whole life. It’s true, all of it, and I would be the luckiest man in the world if you’d agree to go out on a date with me. Please give me the chance to make you fall for me, like I have been falling since the first moment I set eyes on you.”

Never in her life had she had someone so ruthlessly come after her. Her heart pounded in her chest as he held her gaze. His eyes pleaded with her, begging for that chance. She wanted to scream yes and never let go of him, but there was a part of her that had her frozen with fear. “I’m terrified of you, Karson. You don’t know what you are getting into. I’m just now picking up the pieces of my life. I can’t redo it all when you run for the hills.”

“I’m not going anywhere, Lacey. I’m here. I’m yours. Just give me the chance.”
Biting into the inside of her cheek so hard it hurt, she closed her eyes as she leaned her forehead against his lips, taking in a deep breath. She was given a second chance at life to live it, not to hide. She had to live her life to the fullest, and a part of her knew that she wouldn’t be living if Karson weren’t a part of her life. Yes, she was terrified, and yes, there was a chance that he would completely break her, but she couldn’t help but try. She didn’t care how crazy it was. She felt the same thing he did. So she slowly nodded, as she looked back up into the caramel eyes she craved to look into daily.
A grin came over his lips, and she returned it before whispering, “Yes.”

My Review:
This is a book full of novellas. So they are short stories. I absolutely loved this book. There were so many good stories. That you could sit down and read in night. They were exciting, fun, sad, romantic, and uplifting. Some were stories of people with cancer or had cancer and some were just great hockey short stories. I have no preference they were simply amazing. I was introduced to new authors that I have never read before and plan on purchasing more books from them. It was a great way to experience the writing of numerous authors. I will quickly give you my thoughts on each novella in the series.

Tangled in Laces by Toni Aleo
If you have been to my blog you will know that I am a HUGE fan of Toni Aleo's. Her Assassin series is by far one of my favorites. Tangled in Laces is a prequel to her next novel coming out in 2015. I loved it. Lacey and Karson's story was beautiful and broke my heart at the same time. I can not wait for the full novel to come out!!

Hooking Hannah by Cassandra Carr and Cindy Carr
This was a light and fun read. Scott and Hannah have a fast whirlwind kind of romance. Hannah's sister is married to Scott's teammate so she has an in but, does she want it? Scott is convinced instantly after the first moment he see's Hannah. Will Scott be able to maker her see how awesome they are together?

Crashing the Boards by Jami Davenport
Izzy and Cooper's story is another really fun one. Izzy is a party crasher and got the big invite to the teams party. Her goal, make Cooper have a good time so his team will. This turns out to be harder then she thought. Will she be able to flip his switch before the part is over???

Taking a Shot by Catherine Gayle
Katie and Jamie's story ripped my heart out. Seriously, I cried more then once during this one. It is absolutely beautiful and touching. Jamie is a pretty amazing guy. Especially towards Katie, who has leukemia. What he does for her is...well...beautiful. This was one of my favorites and I will be buying more from this author!

A Valuable Trade by Jaymee Jacobs
I LOVED Bryan and Georgiana's story! A fun southern girl meets a guy from up North. I went to UND so I was like, hey he played for UND!! I was excited about that haha. Georgiana is such a vibrant person. I loved her personality. Things get hot and heavy fast for these two quick. They may not realize it but, they are perfect for each other!

Heir Apparent by V.L. Locey
This one brings up very real issues in professional sports that have recently been in the news a lot. That would be the sexual orientation of a player. Man on man isn't really my cup of tea but, if it's yours then your going to want to skip straight to this one right away.

Blind Pass by Bianca Sommerland
Yay, a story from a coach!! I loved Madeline. She was such a kind and loving soul. I loved the interactions with the team and the main characters. I will be reading more from this author as well!

Captain, My Captain by Nikki Worrell
Keith and Kelly!!! I loved that Kelly was a delivery girl, just your average everyday girl. Not a puck bunnie, super rich, or famous. Just like you or me. I really liked this one, it was so well written. Will Kelly be able to forget her past and move on with Keith?

Like I said, I am so luck to get a chance to read so many new great authors. I am looking forward to read more from them. This cause is near and dear to me. I think we all know someone who has suffered or been affected by cancer. Unfortunately, my grandma recently passed away from cancer. She was an amazing woman and this post is to honor her and everyone else affected by cancer. Go out and get your copy today!!
