ARC Review of The Forever Song by Juile Kagawa

Goodreads Summary:
VENGEANCE WILL BE HERS

Allison Sekemoto once struggled with the question: human or monster?

With the death of her love, Zeke, she has her answer.

MONSTER

Allie will embrace her cold vampire side to hunt down and end Sarren, the psychopathic vampire who murdered Zeke. But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many surprises for Allie and her companions—her creator, Kanin, and her blood brother, Jackal. The trail is leading straight to the one place they must protect at any cost—the last vampire-free zone on Earth, Eden. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie.

In a ruined world where no life is sacred and former allies can turn on you in one heartbeat, Allie will face her darkest days. And if she succeeds, triumph is short-lived in the face of surviving forever alone.

My Review:
I am so sad to see this series end. I have really enjoyed it. I was super excited to get an ARC of this one. With the way the previous book left off. Allison, Kanin, and Jackal are on the move. Trying to catch Sarren before he gets to Eden and completely destroys what's left of humanity. He has a mutated virus that affects vampires as well as humans. There journey is long, especially when they have to walk most of it. They run into a lot of rabids that make things worse and their journey more dangerous. There are a lot of surprises a long the way. Allie is struggling too. After the loss of Zeke and the thought that her adopted human family is probably dead in Eden. She has a hard time focusing and does lose herself to the Monster for a while. She doesn't want to feel. It is just to much. To lose everything you cared for more then once is just to much for her. Giving in to the Monster is easy. Kanin doesn't like this and Jackal loves it. Will they make it to Eden in time? Will Allie spend the rest of forever alone?

I really liked Allie. She is such a strong character. She understand what she is and tries to fight it. She knows she will always need blood and will always be dangerous. Like I said she gives into the Monster for a bit. Kanin does help her come out of it though. Kanin is one of my favorite characters. He is the strong silent type. A great master vampire. Jackal is still that loud, annoying, pain in the butt but, he is also funny. He was the comic relief between depressed Allie and quite Kanin. They make a pretty great family actually. I missed Zeke. Him and Allie were so cute together. Sarren has a lot of tricks up his sleeves. He knows exactly how to get to these guys. Allie especially. Expect the unexpected! Not everyone will survive the war that is coming.

I loved how this one ended. I thought it was a great way to end the series. Not a 100% happy ending. It was bitter sweet but, I really liked it. It fit so well. Like I said, I am sad to see this one ending but, all good things must come to an end. I will definitely be reading more from Julie Kagawa!
