Question of the week
Change the Plot. If you could, what book would you change the ending or a plot thread? Go ahead and do it...change it.

I have to go with the first book that came to my mind when I read this question. ALLEGIANT  by Veronica Roth!!! OMG, this ending made me so angry and sad. I give the author props for doing it but, it didn't seem necessary for the story. I don't want to spoil the book for people who have yet to read it. If you have read it  you know EXACTLY what I am talking about. That specific character would live. That is all I am going to say.

RELEASE DAY LAUNCH!! Whtie Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout

White hot Kiss Release Day banner

White Hot Kiss
We are beyond excited to participate in the Release Day Launch for Jennifer L. Armentrout's WHITE HOT KISS! WHITE HOT KISS is a young adult paranormal romance being published by Harlequin Teen TODAY! This is the first full-length novel in The Dark Elements Series and one you'll want to grab as soon as you finish reading this post.

  ABOUT WHITE HOT KISS:
One kiss could be the last. Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever. Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

  EXCERPT:
“I don’t think of Zayne that way!” She laughed. “What man-parts-loving female in this world doesn’t think of Zayne that way? I can barely keep myself breathing when I see him. All the guys in school have squishy waists. I can tell Zayne doesn’t. He’s the awesome sauce with extra sauce.” That he was and he so didn’t have a squishy waist, but I tuned Stacey out at that point. I really did need to cram for this test and I also didn’t want my fantasies involving Zayne to occupy my mind right now. Especially after I’d woken up this morning, carefully tucked under the covers. The bed had smelled like him: sandalwood and crisp linen. “Oh, sweet baby Jesus in a manger,” Stacey murmured. I clenched my jaw, cupping my hands over my ears. She jabbed me in the side with her elbow. At this rate I’d be covered in bruises before lunchtime. “Our bio class just got a billion times more interesting. And hotter, lots and lots hotter. Holy mother, I want to have his babies. Not now of course, but definitely later. But I’d like to start practicing soon.” The cell wall is a thick and rigid layer covering the plasma something, something plant cells… Stacey stiffened all of a sudden. “Oh my God, he’s coming—” Composed of fat and sugar— Something slender and shiny fell from who knew where, landing in the middle of Sam’s notes. Blinking tightly, it took me a couple of seconds to recognize the faded and half peeled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sticker covering the back of the silver cell phone. My heart slammed against my ribs. Gripping the edges of the notebook, I slowly lifted my gaze. Unnaturally beautiful golden eyes met mine. “You forgot this last night.”

Synopsis
He spurned Gabby Ward once, crushing her young heart, and then left to travel the world for fame and glory. Now Hunter Markham has come back home to the sand and salty breeze of the North Carolina Outer Banks so he can open up Last Call, a beach bar nestled among the dunes of the Atlantic.
Gabby Ward is not happy that Hunter has returned. Bitter over his rebuff years before, she’s content to stay far away from him and his dangerously charming ways.
Gabby’s well-schemed plans to ignore Hunter go up in flames when he presents an offer to her that she simply can’t refuse, throwing them together in a common quest to each reach their goals. Working together day in and day out proves to be problematic for Gabby, who soon realizes that the feelings she had for him are still very much alive. Hunter struggles to reach through to Gabby’s cold heart, all while starting a new career away from his life as a top ranked, professional surfer.
What starts out as a mutual business arrangement soon turns into a passion that neither of them can continue to deny.
Hard choices lay ahead for both of them when Hunter is offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to return to the pro surfing tour.
Choices that could destroy what they have built or take them further than they ever had dared to hope.

My Review
Sawyer Bennett does it again! This is a great start to another great series! Gabby has had a rough life. After she graduated high school, after a night of fun, she kisses the boy she has loved for some time. Unfortunately for her, he completely denies her. The trouble is he is her best friend’s brother and they are always around each other. As times goes on they just fight and bicker. Luckily Hunter is a pro surfer so he is gone a lot. When Hunter’s twin brother Brody gets out of jail Hunter is brought back into Gabby’s life. They still bicker and generally don’t like each other but, Hunter needs work done on the bar and Gabby’s just the girl to do it! Will they be able to work together without killing each other? Or will this be the thing that fixes them?

I loved Brody. I am so excited that we will get his story next. He is a very interesting guy. After getting out of jail he is working at the bar with Hunter. It seems like he is having a hard time re-entering the world. His story should be fun! Casey is Brody and Hunters sister and Gabby’s BFF. They have been friends forever and have a great relationship. Gabby and Casey have been through a lot together.

Hunter and Gabby have a roller coaster relationship. The love and hate each other. After being around each other they break. Gabby tells Hunter how much he hurt her and she is having a hard time getting over his playboy past. Will Hunter change for her? The book is in both of their POV’s and so we get Hunters side too. Hunter is more in love with Gabby then she realizes. It’s awesome to see a guy pining for a girl for once! Things get a little dicey when Hunters ex comes to town.  Can Gabby and Hunter survive their family and friends? Will they get their happily ever after?
I LOVED this book! I can’t wait for the next one. Sawyer Bennett writes some amazing books! Keep them coming lady!

Deprogrammed by Nicole Sobon

Goodreads Summary:
Every choice that you make has a consequence.

When Emile Reed went back to Vesta Corp to save her loved ones, she'd been deprogrammed. Thirteen had regained control, forcing her to become a prisoner inside of her own body. She has been left to live alongside Thirteen, able to hear everything that occurs around her, but unable to react…until she sees him.

He reawakens her past and gives Emile the strength she needs to overpower Thirteen. Having regained control of her body and her mind, Emile now has to face the fact that her past decisions have hurt those that she loves the most: her family.

Alexis Ward never meant to hurt anyone, but she did.

Her choices ended up hurting both Emile and Hayden Reed, effectively ending their lives outside of Vesta Corp. When her uncle brings her to Vesta Corp, trying to force her into taking part in the family business, Alexis is forced to face the consequences of her decisions when she comes face to face with both Hayden and Emile.

In order to survive, they’ll need to let go of their pasts, and find the strength within themselves to fight back against McVeigh.

My Review:
In Deprogrammed we get the POV of Alexis and Emile. This is really interesting. We get to see things from Alexis, who works for Vesta Corp but, hates what she does. We start where Emile is back at Vesta Corp and has be completely re-programmed. Thirteen is now in complete control of her body and Emile is off in the background unable to control her body. She knows what is going on and that her brother Hayden is there too. Through and through Emile is all about her family and the people she cares about. She will do anything, risk her life, to help those people. Eventually Emile gets programmed again and is in control but, things are far from over. She needs to escape and save her brother. Colton is there too and a huge help along with Alexis. This was a fast pace ride and not everyone will survive this escape attempt. Will Emile save her family and escape Vesta Corp? Will she be able to shut Vesta Corp down forever?

I really loved Alexis's POV. She is not some evil person. She is being forced to do what she does. The family trade. She has strong feelings towards Hayden. She needs to keep him safe. Hayden is the biggest sweetheart. He is trying so hard to save Emile. Will he succeed?

We get to meet some programs that are a lot like Emile as well. Jessica and Grant. They still have their human side. They are not just rogue programs. They were specifically fun to read about. Grant may be on of my new favorites.

That brings us to Colton and Emile. I love these two together. They have grown so much from the last book. They are older and braver.  I felt like Colton came a long way from where he was in the previous book. He was having a very hard time dealing. I have been hoping for a romance between these two since book one. I really hope that happens! I mean Emile is pretty indestructible and Colton knows how to take care of her. I will keep my fingers crossed!

The group has a lot on their plate now. Not everyone can be saved. What will they do now? Will they ever be safe and have a future or are they destined to run forever? Book 3 should have a lot of interesting plot twists and I can't wait!

ARC Review of The Arrangement Vol. 14 by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
Coming soon!!

My Review:
Volume 14 picks up right where 13 left off. Avery is drugged and being carried out of her dorm in that damn box. I have never hated a box more then I do right now. The whole situation we are left with at the end of 13 was insane. So I am glad we got resolution in 14. I never thought that Sean, Black, and Avery might have to work together. Considering how much they all pretty much hate one another. Sean drops quite a big bomb on Avery and she is once again questioning if she can be with Sean. Does she deserve more? Will Sean ever change?

There are even more dead bodies to come. I'm not going to lie, I was totally ok with one of them. Good riddens in my opinion! Avery has a lot to work though and she can't exactly think straight around Sean. She seeks the wisdom of none other then Marty! Yay! I love Marty! He's my favorite fake gay character of all time! He helps Avery try to decide to be with Sean or take Black's deal of becoming a madam like her. I know what I think about the whole thing. JUST SAY NO AVERY!!

This one yet again ends with quite the cliffhanger. I have no idea who is trying to kill Avery. Seriously, no clue.  I am so curious as to who it is! I need to know what is going to happen next! Sounds a bit like Sean has some competition with Marty :)

Question of the week
What was the last book that made you cry?

Omg, that is easy. It was one I recently finished. The Fault in our Stars by John Green!! I waited on purpose to read this one because I knew it was going to be sad. Oh dear lord I did some seriously ugly crying. I am so glad I was alone when I finished it. It is going to make the movie hard to watch. The review was so hard for me to write. HERE is the link if you want to read it.

Hooked by K.C. Falls (18+ Review)

Goodreads Summary:
Morgan Wolf is a complicated man living an uncomplicated life on a mega yacht he doesn’t own. He lets women believe what they think they see. It’s easier that way. No woman would want the truth he’s never shared.

Lara Lamb is sailing away from what she thought she wanted. Because she wanted the wrong things and always for the wrong reason.

Lara sees Morgan for what he is: a rich, shallow Peter Pan who happens to have a cute monkey. Trouble is she’s only right about the monkey.

She’s everything Morgan never wanted. She makes the easy way look like the coward’s way. Ready to take the chance, Morgan struggles with how to let Lara closer than anyone’s ever been. Will his unspeakable wounds be too deep for her to bear?

My Review:
I am so glad I was approached to review this book. I was so absorbed into the story. Lara was a character I think we can all relate to. She is a chef who left her job at a restaurant because her boss was an ass. She took a job on a yacht, which is completely not what she expected to do. But, she needed something different to lift her spirits. It started of ok, Morgan her boss, was a bit cold. She however felt something toward him. Lara falls into her routine of cooking for a ship and a boss who is insanely picky, in a healthy way. She gets along great with the captain, Richard. Things between Lara and Morgan heat up. They have a couple hot encounters. Some that involved Morgan and a couple ladies. Lara knows Morgan is a rich player who gets what he wants but, she isn’t going to just hand anything over. Can she figure out her new boss? Will she fall for him?

My favorite character was Mrs. D. I totally want a pet monkey! She was awesome!! The way she was with Morgan was sweet. We get both POV’s in the book, Lara and Morgan. So we get to know both of them. Morgan hasn’t had a particularly easy life. He has his demons to deal with. He doesn’t open up about them to anyone.  Lara however, is getting close to breaking his cold exterior.

These two are pretty hot as a couple, so much sexual tension. I don’t’ know how they survived each other honestly. Hot and cold explains it pretty well. Things get kind of awkward after one of their encounters and then some pretty serious things happen. Lives are changed and secrets slip.

Will these two have a future beyond secret rendezvous? You’ll have to read it! I am so excited to get my hands on the sequel. I read this one in about 2 days. After the dangerous and life threatening events of the first one, I need to know what’s going to happen for these two! Needless to say book 2 has been purchased!

Mitigation by Sawyer Bennett (18+ Review)

Goodreads Summary:
I’ve seen a new side to Matt Connover. He’s proven to me that there is something inside him other than icy control and masculine force.

I’ve seen care… tenderness… even protectiveness.

I’ve seen vulnerability.

But Matt Connover’s issues run deep. I know Cal hurt him deeply, and he keeps himself protected because of that. I also sense there is something more to his pain that even I cannot comprehend.

Matt is struggling between what he knows and what he wants.
I’m struggling with boundaries and how to protect my own fragile heart.

This time I’m drawing a line in the sand and Matt can either step over to join me, or these Legal Affairs are finished forever.

My Review:
A lot happens in Mitigation. After Mac’s mothers funeral she is anxious to get back to the sweet loving Matt for comfort and distraction. Unfortunately for Mac, Matt has flipped back into “this is just sex”, Matt. I felt like Mac had finally made headway with Matt. When he was with her at the hospital he was so perfect. He helped her get through an incredibly hard even in her life. I thought he was ready for a relationship. That he wouldn’t do that for someone he doesn’t have feelings for right? Ugh! I was wrong. I felt Mac get more confident in herself. She had the strength to call it quits and get her stuff together. Will Matt pull his head out of his butt? Will he realize how much Mac means to him and come running back?

I have concluded that Matt must be bipolar. He is hot and smexy at one point then cold and mean the next. I just wanted him to wake the heck up! Mac is awesome and DESERVES more! Cal is not my favorite but, at one point I wanted Mac to use him to make Matt jealous. Things are about change for both Matt and Mac. They are going to realize things about themselves that they didn’t know.

I love this series! I can’t wait for the next volume. If you haven’t started it yet now is the time people!

Goodreads Summary:
Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away.

Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.

Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.

In this enthralling sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love.

She has a ton of followers, not sure why it took me so long really. If she happens across this post then, Jen I love your blog and keep up the good work :)

Wishlist Wednesday #85

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly post put on by Dani at the Pen to Paper blog. Where you post a book you really really want to read or one that has been on your wishlist! If you've seen my to-read list on Goodreads then you know there are plenty that I could use. So I decided to use this feature every Wednesday.

Title: Evertrue
Author: Brodi Ashton
Series Number: 3
Release Date: January 21, 2014

Goodreads Summary:
Now that Nikki has rescued Jack, all she wants is to be with him and graduate high school. But Cole tricked Nikki into feeding off him, and she’s begun the process of turning into an Everliving herself... which means she must feed on a Forfeit soon — or die.

Terrified for her survival, Nikki and Jack begin a desperate attempt to reverse the process using any means possible. Even Cole, who they expected to fight them at every turn, has become an unlikely ally — but how long can it last? Nikki needs to feed on Cole to survive, Cole needs Nikki to gain the throne in the Everneath, Jack needs Nikki because she is everything to him — and together, they must travel back to the Underworld to undo Nikki’s fate and make her mortal once more. But Cole isn’t the only one with plans for Nikki: the Queen has not forgotten Nikki’s treachery, and she wants her destroyed for good. Will Nikki be forced to spend eternity in the Underworld, or does she have what it takes to bring down the Everneath once and for all?

In this stunning conclusion to the Everneath trilogy, Brodi Ashton evokes the resiliency of the human spirit and the indomitable power of true love.

My Thoughts:
I have read the first book in this series and have the second one on my bookshelf right now. I love the covers of these so I plan on buying the last one too. Have any of you read this one?
