Summary
Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something...
Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them.

So Raine comes up with a plan...
She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again.
But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves

My Review
Norse mythology has become one of my favorites. Which is why the Runes series has the extra special element Immortals starts out not to soon after Runes ends. Raine is about to start her training to become a Valkyrie. She is also dealing with the fact that Torin has none of his memories. She is a stranger to the man she loves. This proves to be very hard for her. As you would expect. She is going to do everything she can to get him back. There is also something going on with Eirik. He is acting different. And the good old Norns are back too. They know what is going on with Eirik and need Raine's help to save him. When the Norns are involved however, things are never as they seem. Raine is running out of people she can trust. Will Raine be able to get Torin back or will they be pushed further apart? Are the Norns truly there to help? Will Eirik ever be the same again?

Raine has grown so much during Immortals. She has so many things going on in her life. There is something wrong with her dad and Eirik, Torin doesn't remember her, and her training has started. Lavania is her training coach. She is lovely and I really enjoyed her. I hope we get to see more of her. Andris has changed a lot! I think it had a lot to do with his lost love. I liked him waaay more in this book. I still enjoyed Cora for most of the book too. There were so many great characters and other then the bad guys I loved them all!

Torin is still a super hot biker guy. I really like him, even though his memories are gone. He still tries to protect Raine even though he doesn't quite understand why. Raine does an amazing job trying to get Torin to fall in love with him again. They are so cute together. They have some pretty hot moments too. However, there are secrets and darker things at play that threaten their relationship. Will they be together again?? Eirik and Raine still have a unique relationship. They both love each other and Raine will do anything to protect him. Even if it means hurting things with Torin.

I really loved this book. It is so different from what I have read and I love the mythology! So many surprises and shocking moments I couldn't put this book down! I highly recommend you start this series!!

EXCERPT
The east lot across from school was jammed with students trying to find parking. I eased my Sentra beside a four-wheel truck, switched off the engine, and just sat there, staring at the students scurrying past. Any moment, I expected someone to notice me and yell “Witch!”
Being a witch would be preferable to what I was. What I will become after I complete my training. A Valkyrie. A soul reaper. Just thinking about it made my skin crawl. Six weeks ago, I was your average student concerned with starting another boring school year and making out with the guy I’d had a crush on, like, forever. My best friend, Eirik Seville.
Then Torin St. James stormed into my life on his black Harley with his wicked smile and brilliant blue eyes. He’d shattered everything I thought I knew about me, life, and love. Made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. The focus of his existence.
But before I’d been able to savor the joy of being in love, it all fell apart like a house of cards, destroyed by beings so powerful even the gods quaked in their presence. I shuddered. Two weeks had passed, yet the images from that night still haunted my dreams.
Twelve swimmers from my high school had met their death in the most horrific way. To the rest of the world, they’d been electrocuted by lightning during a swim meet. The media had called it a freak accident. I knew better. Evil Norns had caused the lightning.
Norns, destiny deities from Norse pantheon, were real and as badass as they come. Some blissfully went about guiding disasters, natural or manmade, without caring about the lives they destroyed. The worst part was, I had known about their plan but hadn’t stopped them. Couldn’t stop them even though I’d tried. Valkyries, or Valkyries-to-be in my case, couldn’t prevent deaths. Not without consequences.
Norns, on the other hand, ruled over destinies of gods and Mortals and did as they pleased. My flamboyant, technology-challenged mother might have saved my teammates at one time, but her Norn card got canceled when she fell in love with my father, a Mortal, and chose him over them. She had been training to be a good Norn when she fell; thank goodness. Mom’s situation was another tidbit I’d learned two weeks ago. I was still trying to wrap my brain around that one. Now I had to deal with school, friends I hadn’t seen in two weeks, and teammates who’d seen me act like a deranged lunatic during the meet.

The powerful sound of a twin engine grows closer. CV is a nervous wreck, you know, like that reporter in Interview with a Vampire, except her guest is not a vampire or he wouldn’t be riding a Harley in broad daylight. She walks to the window, lifts the corner of the curtain and peers outside. A sigh of relief escapes her when she sees he is not alone. He removes the helmet from his girlfriend’s head, her dark hair tumbling to her shoulder. He says something, causing her to playfully punch him in the stomach then grabs his T-shirt and pulls him closer. He drops the helmet on the seat, cups her face and they kiss. Yowza. CV fans herself. Even her neighbor from across the street stops watering her garden to watch. Afraid they’ll see her, CV lets the curtain drop and runs to her bedroom to make sure she’s presentable. It was the tenth time she is doing that.

When the knock comes, CV runs and yanks the door open: Welcome to my home, Torin and… Where’s Raine?

Torin (grins): She’s gone.

CV frowns, checks the curb and finds it empty: Oh. Please, come in and have a seat. Would you like something to drink? Tea? I know you English love tea?

Torin:  No, I’m good, but thanks. It’s been a while since I considered myself an Englishman.

CV moves back to give him room. He’s talk with shaggy black hair and the most brilliant blue eyes she’s ever seen. He waits for her to sit then takes the chair across from hers.

CV:  You let Raine ride your Harley?

Torin shrugs:  Yeah. She’s learning to control her speed and I like it because I get to be the passenger. *grin turns wicked*

CV (laughs , imagining having him behind her with his arms around her waist): Do you ever distract her?

Torin (blue eyes widen as he gives her an innocent smile): No. Not intentionally, but she insists I do it anyway. So what did you want to ask me? She’ll be back in thirty minutes.

CV (runs a gaze over his black jeans, blue shirt that makes his eyes pop, leather jacket and canvas shoes): Okay.  You look like a nineteen year old. How old are you really?

Torin (makes a face): Nineteen? Really? I need to change how I address.

CV: Okay, early twenties. But seriously, how old are you?

Torin: I stopped counting after eight centuries.

CV: Since you’ve lived that long, what changes have you seen over the years that bugs you?

Torin: The appreciation of a woman’s lushness. Matchstick body doesn’t do anything for me. Now curves (he runs a heated gaze over her body and gives her a slow grin), there’s so much a man can do with a curvaceous woman.

CV(blushes): What changes please you?

Torin: I’m a biker and I love the strides humans have made creating motorcycles. I can’t wait for hover-bikes. I can definitely see myself riding one fifty or a hundred years from now.

CV (sighs, wishing she could be Immortal):  What does the name Torin mean?

Torin (chuckles): In Gaelic, it means chief or thunder and is associated with Thor, the God of Thunder. The Scottish people say it means craggy hilltop.

CV: How much pride do you take in your appearance?

Torin (shrugs): I don’t really think about it. I work out and stay healthy.

CV: Come on, Torin. Are you saying you don’t mind girls drooling over your hot bod?

Torin (grins): No, I only care about one girl drooling over my hot bod or touching it or...

CV (grins back): I’m sure she likes you drooling over hers too

Torin: I don’t drool.

CV (laughing): Yeah, right. Do you have any scars, tattoos, or piercings??

Torin (stands and lifts his shirt and shows her faint scars on his chest): These are special.

CV (tries not to drool over the washboard abs): Why?

Torin: I got them during the crusade when I fought alongside my brother James.

CV: What is your preferred style of clothing to wear?

Torin: Casual… Jeans and T-shirts suit are fine, but I don’t have a problem with dressing up or taking everything off *grins naughtily*

The sound of a Harley reached them from afar.

CV: What is your preferred style of clothing for the opposite sex?

Torin (stares into space with nostalgic expression): Dresses. When I was young, women took extra care with what they wore. I love it when Raine wears a dress. She’s breathtaking. On the other hand, I prefer her with very little on.

CV (laughs):  Can I tell her you said that?

Torin (stands up, chuckling): She already knows it.

The sound of the engine revving reaches them and CV stands too.

Torin (shakes CV’s hand). Thanks for having me. Am I allowed to kiss you? Just on the cheek?

CV: My hubby might start world war three if you kiss me anywhere else.

Torin (laughs, drops a kiss on her cheek): Then I’d better go. I hope we meet again, CV.

CV: One last question. What are you?

Torin: I can’t answer that. If you know, I’ll have to mark you with forgetful runes and make you forget this entire interview.
