Goodreads Summary:
Tired of their high school teaching jobs and discouraged by their failed attempts at conceiving a child, Mark and Fran Finley decide they need a change in their lives. Abruptly, they leave their friends and family in suburban New Jersey to begin anew as innkeepers on a secluded lake in the Adirondack Mountains. There they muddle through their first season at the inn, serving barely edible dinners to guests, stranding themselves in chest-deep snowdrifts, and somehow, miraculously, amid swarms of ravenous black flies, conceiving a child, a girl they name Nat. Years later, when Mark and Fran are nearing middle age and Nat is a troubled teenager, Mark's life is ripped apart, forever changed, and he must choose between returning to his old home in New Jersey or trying to rebuild what is left of his life and family in the place of his greatest joy anddeepest sorrow.

Question Time!

1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging on January 10, 2012. Wow, I have learned so much since then!

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
I love connecting with authors. Yes, I totally fangirl out when then message me back or share something of mine. There are a few that I talk to pretty regularly. The blogger community is pretty awesome too. I have made some blogger friends that have been great and helped me figure some stuff out over time.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I blog about a lot of YA, New Adult, and Adult books. I have found that as I have aged I have started to lean more towards upper YA, New Adult, and Adult books. However, YA holds a special place in my heart because that is what got me started on this adventure. I am also hooked on paranormal. I LOVE it. You give me a good paranormal romance and I don't care what age group it is, I will read it! Bring on the aliens, vampires, faeries, werewolves, Gods, angels, and demons and I will dive into that world for hours.

4. What is your favorite book(s)?
This is an ever changing answer. I have found books that I love many times. Right now I would have to say the one that I can't get out of my head is The Fault in Our Stars. I know...who hasn't read it and liked it right? I waited a lot time to read it and just recently did. I am also knee deep in Jennifer Armentrout's Lux series right now (alien love!). Daemon is currently on my night stand staring at me, begging me to read Opposition.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I have met some pretty awesome people. That is probably the best part. The blogging community is huge! It is so awesome to have so many people with the same passion to talk to. I also love the books! I have had authors contact me or people suggest books I may have never found or thought about before. I have been introduced to so many books I have loved this way.

This Weeks Question
Social Share! What is your favorite social network and leave us a link so we can join you!
This is hard. I am a total social media junkie. I am literally on Facebook and Twitter whenever I can. Usually if I am bored I surf Twitter and Facebook. I have a blog account and personal account for both. All of my social media would come to a total of 8 different ones. That's a lot of passwords to remember! By far my favorites though are Twitter and Facebook. What would we do without them!

That's What He Said Thursday! Featuring Boarded by Love by Toni Aleo

“So I heard you want to dance with somebody,” I say teasingly.
She laughs. “Maybe. You the man for the job?”
I find myself nodding like a fool. “I could be the heat you’re looking for.”
Shaking her head, she looks away. “Didn’t I say you were trouble?”
“You did,” I say and I take a step closer. “But I think you are going to ignore that and take advantage of me.”

-Jude to Claire

Boarded by Love by Toni Aleo
Coming September 8th, 2014!

Jude Sinclair here, hockey player for the Bellevue Bullies and lover of all ladies. Hockey’s in my blood and, not to sound full of myself, but I’m good at it... really good. The draft is within my reach—it’s mine to take—but that’s not the only reason people know my name. They know me because of my way with woman. They know the score, and I aim to please. I just tend to stay away from repeat performances. In other words, I don’t do relationships above my family and friends. I’m happy with life. However, I should warn you that my story and how I see it playing out is about to change due to a certain redhead on campus.

She’s beautiful. Stunning. Breathtaking.

She’s my game changer.

He’s trouble from the moment I see him. I don’t know what I’m thinking, but from the moment I meet his gaze, I’m his. It’s a scary feeling.
I’ve never trusted anyone outside my aunt and uncle—and even that took months. I didn’t have it easy growing up. My mom was usually strung out, and she didn’t give me a second thought. Drugs and the men who paid her were most important. It was horrible, but I’m stronger today. Because of my past, security is what I need most. Money assures me that I can take care of myself today, tomorrow, and next month. I don’t want to ever be hungry or go without again, so I work hard for every penny.

Oh, by the way, I’m Claire Anderson. I’m a hard-studying sophomore at the University of Bellevue, dancer for the school team, and a burlesque
dancer at a club, but that’s my secret.

You may think you know how our story ends, but you have no clue. It’s not easy falling in love, or living happily ever after. At first, it may seem so, but when is anything worth having ever won without a fight?

Especially, when you’re boarded by love.

The Proposition Vol. 5 by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
Blackmail. Sex. Ferro.

Time is my enemy and I won’t waste another second. I have a choice to make: a life with Neil or what’s left of life with Bryan. I make my decision, but could lose everything when the one Ferro I never want to see interferes. I feel like my life is spiraling out of control, but this could lead to what I’ve been searching for all along—hope.

Genre: New Adult Romance

This concludes a story unfolded over five volumes of approx. 125 pages each.

My Review:
OMG, volume 5 hits you right where it hurts. If you thought the Ferro's were invisible you are incorrect. I love that these volumes are 125 pages. I read this one in a matter of hours and couldn't put it down. Ward keeps you on the edge of your seat each and every time! By this point we all know that Bryan is really sick and doesn't think he has much time to live. Hallie is really broken up by this. She finally gets him back only to find out she's going to lose him. Ugh, and I love Bryan! He is one of my favorite Ferro's. I have said it before, Hallie is one of my favorite leads for Ward's books. She is strong and it really showed in this book. When Bryan's aunt and family find out about his condition a team of doctors are called in to decide his fate. Will Bryan and Hallie get more time or will his days be cut short?

This book wasn't as much sex and lust as the others. It was very caring and emotional. Well, at least it was for me. I cried....Hallie gets to spend most of the time with Bryan until a ghost from her past starts to haunt her. This ghost
wants to kill her for what she has done. Hallie makes a decision that may end badly for her. Will she make it out alive? Will her and Bryan get years or days?

I loved this series and I am sad to see it end with 5. Be prepared because this one is so loving and sad that your going to need tissues. It hits you right in the feels. The ending does open up another story line that I hope is followed...like really really hope! It was a bitter sweet ending but, it did fit with the story.

And some GIF's to describe my feelings in picture...

But, then at the end

  EXCERPT:
Katy I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely. But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides. No. Thiscouldn’t be happening. No way.My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true. After all, he’d healed me, but then I thought of what Dee had said, of how Dee had behaved with me. What if Daemon was like her? Turned into something so foreign and cold? He would’ve healed me just to make sure he was okay. I still didn’t stop.
Please, I thought over and over again. Please. Please. Please. On shaky legs, I crossed the long room, and even thoughDaemon hadn’t seemed to even acknowledge my existence, I walked right up to him, my hands trembling as I placed them on his chest. “Daemon?” I whispered, voice thick. His head whipped around, and he was suddenly staring down at me. Our gazes collided once more, and for a second I saw something so raw, so painful in those beautiful eyes. And then his large hands wrapped around my upper arms. The contact seared through the shirt I wore, branding my skin, and I thought—I expected—that he would pull me against him, that he would embrace me, and even though nothing would be all right, it would be better. Daemon’s hands spasmed around my arms, and I sucked in an unsteady breath. His eyes flashed an intense green as he physically lifted me away from him, setting me back down a good foot back. I stared at him, something deep in my chest cracking. “Daemon?” He said nothing as he let go, one finger at a time, it seemed, and his hands slid off my arms. He stepped back, returning his attention to the man behind the desk. “So . . . awkward,” murmured the redhead, smirking. I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché. “I think someone was expecting more of a reunion,” the Luxen male behind the desk said, his voice ringing with amusement. “What do you think, Daemon?” One shoulder rose in a negligent shrug. “I don’t think anything.” My mouth opened, but there were no words. His voice, his tone, wasn’t like his sister’s, but like it had been when we first met. He used to speak to me with barely leashed annoyance, where a thin veil of tolerance dripped from every word. The rift in my chest deepened.
For the hundredth time since the Luxen arrived, SergeantDasher’s warning came back to me. What side would Daemon and his family stand on? A shudder worked its way down my spine. I wrapped my arms around myself, unable to truly process what had just happened. “And you?” the man asked. When no one answered, he tried again. “Katy?” I was forced to look at him, and I wanted to shrink back from his stare. “What?” I was beyond caring that my voice broke on that one word. The man smiled as he walked around the desk. My gaze flickered over to Daemon as he shifted, drawing the attention of the beautiful redhead. “Were you expecting a more personal greeting?” he asked. “Perhaps something more intimate?” I had no idea how to answer. I felt like I’d fallen into the rabbit hole, and warnings were firing off left and right. Something primal inside me recognized that I was surrounded by predators.

Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead

Goodreads Summary:
Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

My Review:
Sydney is in a bad place. She has always been in control. Now she is in re-education. Which is basically hell on Earth. Sydney lives day in and day out in darkness and with mind physical and emotional torture. This is her life now. In order to get out of isolation and back into clothes, regular food, and be around people she must admit to things. Things that the Alchemist's consider the worst sins. Sydney realizes that she could just say these things even though she does not meant them. Anything to get out of isolation right? Will she ever get out of this place? Will Adrian save her?

Adrian's POV is quite interesting too. He is pretty depressed after losing Sydney. Spirit doesn't help the situation either. Adrian spends a certain amount of the day trying to get into Syndey's dreams but, is not successful. Eventually he is taken back to court while Marcus works on leads to where the re-education facility might be. Adrian is pretty much lost without Sydney, he loves her and a piece of him is missing. Will he ever find her?

You really get to see Sydney and Adrian's relationship grow during Silver Shadows. Even though they aren't together, it is their love fore each other that keeps them going. Sydney very slowly starts to gain friends inside. They begin to work together to form a plan to try to escape. This is a daunting task however. It has never been done and she ends up getting tortured a few times. Thoughts of Adrian keep her going. Adrian is working tirelessly as well. When Sydney is able to get the gas turned off to her room that keeps her in a  dreamless sleep, Adrian is finally able to pull her into a dream. Together they start forming  plan to get out. Will they be successful? Are they destined to be apart forever?

This installment is full of twists and turns. Things I NEVER saw coming. Things I was happy about and things that were upsetting. There will be a new war starting I feel. Consequences to what Adrian and Sydney did are now going to haunt them. Will they ever be safe again? I don't know. I am getting sucked deeper and deeper into this world and I can't wait for the next book! February of 2015 is a long ways away...

ARC Review of The Lover's Secret by J.C. Reed

Goodreads Summary:
When a sexy encounter comes like a dream and leaves like a nightmare…

Brooke Stewart thinks she’s finally safe. After witnessing the crime of a killer, she can move on from her past. But after one night at the Trio Hotel and meeting the sexy stranger with the green eyes that can steal one’s soul, her life is changed forever. Passions run deep. The game is supposed to be for one night with no strings attached.

What she doesn’t know is that the sexy stranger has an agenda of his own. Brooke Stewart has something he desperately wants, something he can't admit to the woman he tries to get to surrender. A secret so deep it would upend her life if she found out too soon. He’s almost reached his goal, and then she gets a letter she was not meant to read. Suddenly, secrets get a completely new meaning.

Is the past really ever the past?

My Review:
This one starts off hot and heavy right away. Brooke is meeting her "date" in a hotel bar. She spots him right away. A steamy over night stay ensues! Although this is a new series if follows the characters of the Surrender books! I loved the characters in the Surrender series so seeing them here was great. So reading that series is probably a good idea. That way you will know a little more about why Brooke has so many trust issues and why she is so paranoid. Luckily for us the man Brooke is going to meet is none other then Jett. Her boyfriend. They are role playing for most of the story. You know, trying to spice things up a bit. However, Brooke's getaway weekend turns into one of the worst shes had. Jett is keeping secrets from her, lying to her. Can she get past his indiscretions or will she leave?

Jett and Brooke have a pretty hot relationship. Their weekend of passion is none other then hot. They click so well together. You can tell that they love each other. They haven't always had an easy relationship. They have been through some pretty crazy things. They are trying to get over them and have a healthy relationship. Everything seems to be ok until Brooke starts noticing things. Deleted emails on her account, texts on Jett's phone, and him sneaking around during their love-fest. Almost by accident Brooke stumbles upon Jett in a compromising position. What will she do? Where will she go from here?

This was a fun and fast read. I really enjoy these characters. This story has went in a direction I was soo not expecting! I love it! Keeps up readers on our feet. I am really curious as to what is going to happen with these two. The title of the next book has me insanely interested. I can't wait!

Goodreads Summary:
“I raise my chin as the buyers stare. Yes. Look. You don’t want me. Because, eventually, accidentally, I will destroy you.”

In a world at war, a slave girl’s lethal curse could become one kingdom’s weapon of salvation. If the curse—and the girl—can be controlled.

As a slave in the war-weary kingdom of Faelen, seventeen-year-old Nym isn’t merely devoid of rights, her Elemental kind are only born male and always killed at birth — meaning, she shouldn’t even exist.

Standing on the auction block beneath smoke-drenched mountains, Nym faces her fifteenth sell. But when her hood is removed and her storm-summoning killing curse revealed, Nym is snatched up by a court advisor and given a choice: be trained as the weapon Faelen needs to win the war, or be killed.

Choosing the former, Nym is unleashed into a world of politics, bizarre parties, and rumors of an evil more sinister than she’s being prepared to fight . . . not to mention the handsome trainer whose dark secrets lie behind a mysterious ability to calm every lightning strike she summons.

But what if she doesn’t want to be the weapon they’ve all been waiting for?

Set in a beautifully eclectic world of suspicion, super abilities, and monsters, Storm Siren is a story of power. And whoever controls that power will win.

Goodreads Summary:
Mysterious. Magnificent. Creepy. Welcome to Rockford Manor.

"There's something hidden in the Maze." Seventeen-year-old Imogen has never forgotten the last words her father said to her seven years ago, before the blazing fire that consumed him, her mother, and the gardens of her family's English country manor.

Haunted by her parents' deaths, Imogen moves to New York City with her new guardians. But when a letter arrives with the news of her cousin's untimely death, revealing that Imogen is now the only heir left to run the estate, she returns to England and warily accepts her role as duchess.

All is not as it seems at Rockford, and Imogen quickly learns that dark secrets lurk behind the mansion's aristocratic exterior, hinting that the spate of deaths in her family were no accident. And at the center of the mystery is Imogen herself--and Sebastian, the childhood friend she has secretly loved for years. Just what has Imogen walked into?

Combining a fresh twist on the classic REBECCA with a spine-tingling mystery and powerful romance, SUSPICION is an action-packed thrill ride.

As Lex starts to put her life back together, she tries to block out what happened the night Tyler died. But there's a secret she hasn't told anyone-a text Tyler sent, that could have changed everything.

Lex's brother is gone. But Lex is about to discover that a ghost doesn't have to be real to keep you from moving on.

From New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Hand, The Last Time We Say Goodbye is a gorgeous and heart-wrenching story of love, loss, and letting go.

My Thoughts:
I love Hand's writing. I am so excited for a new book from her!

Rise of the Olympians Vol. 1 by Belle Ward

Goodreads Summary:
There are no minor gods.

Lilah Jones is officially thirteen. Unfortunately, the day comes with a few twists she didn't expect. For example, her hair turned into a living rainbow and she was gifted with a golden necklace that randomly goes from being room temperature to as hot a supernova. On top of that, she has a dream that she remembers line by the line when she wakes up.

Seeking answers, Lilah meets two boys, named Cole and Adrian, who gladly clear things up. Remember the Greek myths you assumed were fiction? The old gods that you assumed were just someone's imagination? You were wrong. They've been with us the whole time, fighting battles we didn't even know existed, and they've returned. The Olympians are reuniting, preparing to fight the most dangerous battle they've ever faced.

The Father of Monsters is rising.

My Review:
Lilah lives a pretty ordinary life. She has a dad and a brother, loves colors, and tolerates going to school. She is newly 13 however while reading this I would have guessed her to be older. Which is fine by me. The day of her 13th birthday is like any other birthday she has had. Her gift from her Father is a gold necklace with a wing pendant. She instantly loves it and doesn't take it off. After having a pretty interesting dream that night, that involves a disembodied voice, her necklace feels warm. The interesting thing about this dream is that she remembers it vividly and she knows what it wants her to do. Will she be able to find the two others the dream speaks of? Will her life ever be the same?

Cole and Adrian are very interesting guys. Definitely not your average teenage guys. When Lilah meets them she knows pretty quickly that they are the two from her dream. Can they answer all her questions? Why do the stores in her Greek Mythology class feel familiar? The biggest question of all is who is The Father of Monsters and what does it have to do with a group of teenagers?

This was a great start to this novella series. It is only about 100 pages and is a fun and fast read. Like I said, it felt like I was reading about someone older then 13. The ending is quite the cliffhanger, so prepare yourself! I am looking forward to the next installment!

ARC Review of Defect by Autumn Kalquist

Goodreads Summary:
A Legacy Code Prequel Novella Series - Coming August 1st, 2014.

Selene Hayes is one of the Protected, the first genetically-modified children to be born with superimmunity. In a time when world hunger has been vanquished, but drug-resistant diseases kill millions, she’s part of a lucky elite.

That is, until the truth comes out. Protecteds are Defective, and the ensuing public scandal endangers them all. Selene’s been forced to live off-grid for eight years, and so far, staying hidden has kept her safe.

But rumors of another failed experiment are spreading, of a fatal mistake that could destroy everything. And what’s been unleashed may be headed straight for Selene’s sanctuary.

My Review:
I am so excited for this novella series! After reading The Legacy Code, I was so curious about what happened to Earth. I have high hopes for this series to enlighten me! Selene and her family live off the grid. Her brother Eli and her Nan are self sufficient and make money by selling their home grown goods. The food now is genetically modified. They venture into town when they need something and that's about it. It is a necessity, since her and Eli are Protecteds. There genes have been modified to be immune to disease but, there is a problem. A Defect with how it was done. Secrets are being whispered. Panic is starting and it is heading straight for Selene and her family. What will they do? What can they do? They are no longer safe.

Again, this is a novella so it is short. I found myself at the end dying for more! Selene and her family are in a bad situation. There is little time to figure out what to do. If they don't have supplies they will never survive. Selene is young, soon to be 18. She has a lot on her plate. A lot of responsibility. Can she make up for a mistake she never meant to happen? Will they survive?

I am desperate to know more! I was drawn into Selene's world and I am curious as to how this is going to play out. What is her part in all this? I am looking forward to the next installment! This novella series is going to be an amazing addition to the Legacy Code series!
