ARC Review of Life Before Damaged Vol. 8 by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
Money. Power. Sex.

People don't change. They can't. It's a simple thing to understand and yet, everything I'm seeing in the billionaire Pete Ferro makes me think that I'm wrong. Perhaps this alpha male is capable of love after all? That should be a good thing since I'm engaged to him and a wedding is swiftly approaching, but I wanted a white knight type of love story. Instead I got the dark romance that I can't explain.

After all the fights are washed away, there's another man beneath the surface of that sexy exterior searching for a second chance at life. There's more to him than a sexy grin and a beautiful body, but he hides those pieces of his soul away from everyone--except me.

I'm attracted to that man--the hot player who's really a poet, the heartbreaker of a manwhore with the deep blue eyes and crooked smile. I can't fall in love with him because it would break my heart and there's so little left.

My Review:
Gina has finally come into her own. She has decided to live her life to the fullest. Gina's story has surprised me. I have loved Peter in the other books but, in this one he drives me crazy. Gina deserves better. He is so hot and cold all the time. I am getting emotional whip lash. I can't imagine how Gina feels. Especially with the deadline to become a Ferro is looming over her. I don't blame her. I think I would have made the same decision she did. I find myself hoping for a different outcome for Gina. even though we kind of know how this story ends. I have hope!

Gina and Peter still have encounters of the romantic variety. Which are also hot and cold. In this volume I found them to be sweet. I would love to see them have way more intimate time but, I understand times are a little tense and Gina has a lot on her mind. Gina's ex-bf Anthony, stirs things up a bit too. His drunken antics make Peter pretty mad. Which then makes him go all man-ape on Anthony. I did kind of enjoy that though.

Once again I am left emotionally drained after this volume. It keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for the next volume!
