Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Series Number: 1
Release Date: May 5, 2015

Goodreads Summary:
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

My Thoughts:
I am on a Faerie kick right now. This one sounds to good to pass up so I am going to have to wait until MAY for it! Also the cover is pretty awesome so I am sold.

A Very Merry Hockey Holiday by Toni Aleo

Goodreads Review:
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – with eight stories featuring your most beloved characters and their families – it’s time to get comfy with a cup of hot cocoa and take a sneak peek at the holidays, Assassins’ style.

Join Lucas and Fallon along with Tate and Audrey as they await life-changing gifts; Erik and Piper, and Phillip and Reece who have decisions to make that could lead to exciting developments ahead in their lives; and Claire as she makes a Christmas wish and choices for her future. Spend Christmas morning with the Adler family and see what the New Year has in store for Karson and Lacey, as well as Kacey King. The King family faces significant changes and resolutions that will leave readers alternately cheering and maybe a little heavy-hearted…all wrapped up in a big bow.

My Review:
OMG! I am in love with this novella!! I have missed these characters so much! Honestly I really hope Toni Aleo decides to keep doing these little updates on everyone. A Very Merry Hockey Holiday takes us back into all of the Assassin's from the previous books in the series. I have especially missed Tate!! OH, it was sooo good to get back into their world. If you are an Assassin's fan then this novella is a must read. It even has a new character at the end! Oh yes, a lovely lady that thinks she is in a world of hurt for falling for a very bad boy. Novella's are short and even in that little bit of time I cried and laughed. What on earth could be going on with all these guys!?

This novella gives us everything babies, love, and family. It also deals with other issues to like issues getting pregnant and miscarriage. All real life issues. Things that all families deal with. We also get to see some of the new kids like Lacey and Karson and Karson's sister Kacey King. Lets not forget the crazy sexy scenes too! Oh yea, these guys may have had kids. However, that hasn't changed how they have always been! The party they all get together at is just perfect. Always a big happy family. The kind that anyone wishes for.

This novella was an amazing Christmas present! I was so excited for it. I hope we get more of these as the years come and go. I am hoping I never have to stop reading about them! I am looking forward to Kacey's story too. This is a must read for any Assassin's fan!

Title: The Darkest Part of the Forest
Author: Holly Black
Series Number: 1
Release Date: January 13, 2015

Goodreads Summary:
Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves. A girl can look at her brother and believe they’re destined to be a knight and a bard who battle evil. She can believe she’s found the thing she’s been made for.

Hazel lives with her brother, Ben, in the strange town of Fairfold where humans and fae exist side by side. The faeries’ seemingly harmless magic attracts tourists, but Hazel knows how dangerous they can be, and she knows how to stop them. Or she did, once.

At the center of it all, there is a glass coffin in the woods. It rests right on the ground and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives. Hazel and Ben were both in love with him as children. The boy has slept there for generations, never waking.

Until one day, he does…

As the world turns upside down, Hazel tries to remember her years pretending to be a knight. But swept up in new love, shifting loyalties, and the fresh sting of betrayal, will it be enough?

My Thoughts:
I love faeries!! I am always willing to read this kind of book. It sounds great so I am looking forward to this one!

Paragon by Autumn Kalquist

Goodreads Summary:
Tadeo Raines knows what they say about him. It’s all lies.

But lies are better than the truth.

He broke the rules once and swore he’d never do it again. Now traitors plot against the fleet, and he's tasked with hunting them down and stopping them. Permanently.

Tadeo was born to command, born to lead the last remnants of humanity to a new Earth. He knows there’s a better world out there: Daylight at the end of humanity's long night. And he's willing to do whatever it takes to get the fleet there.

Even if it means walking the line between loyalty and treason. And breaking the rules... Again.

My Review:
Paragon picks up right where Legacy Code ended. This book was very interesting as it was in the point of view of Tadeo Raines. The man who air locked Era! I hated him in Legacy Code. I started to like him more in this one. I does make a difference when you see all the politics going on and what is inside his head. There was so much more then Era ever knew. This whole situation goes way higher up in the ranks then she knew. I wish Tadeo would have been able to talk to Era before she died though It think they would have made a good team in figuring out all this stuff. We also get Zephyr's point of view and she is crushed after she finds out Era "killed herself". She simply can't believe it and I don't blame her. She gets into a little trouble when she is so emotional and it actually puts her into a position to figure out something else is going on. There is also a surprise character we get to hear from but, I'm not going to ruin it so I won't say anything!! This book is full of twists and turns and I loved every minute of it. Will Zephyr exonerate her friend? Will Tadeo figure out what's going on in time?

Ok, despite my dislike for Tadeo, I kind of hope he ends up with Zephyr. I think they'd be cute together although I don't know if Zephyr could get over Tadeo and Era. That may be the only thing that could truly keep them apart. There is nothing to suggest they are going to get together I just kind of hope they do. Zephyr may be able to save Tadeo from himself if he lets her. As much as they butt heads I think they would make a good team. Tadeo is a smart man and he does figure out a lot but, in a world where they are so closely monitored I'm not sure if he can keep all his secrets. It will be very interesting to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very fast pace. It was just over a few days after Era's death and so much happened! So many surprises! Ugh! I need to know what is going to happen to these three characters!!

Stolen by Melissa De La Cruz

Goodreads Summary:
Who is Eliza Wesson?

Months after Nat and Wes said good-bye on the shores of the Blue, Nat is learning how to control and use her new power. She and her drakon are the last of their kind—and she’s risked her life for their reunion. When she receives a mysterious distress call, she races to help, soliciting the guidance of her new friend, the beautiful and aloof Faix Lazaved of the Blue.

Still heartbroken over losing Nat, Wes is racing cars on a New Vegas racetrack while his team is scattered and lost. When he finds out that his sister, Eliza, is being held in the golden domes of El Dorado, he does what he’s best at—running to her side—and gambles on luck to see him through one more time.

Magic, romance, and danger collide as Nat and Wes become entangled in a dark new adventure that leads right to the heart of the mystery of their frozen, broken world. They soon discover that the answer to both their quests lies in the same question: Who is Eliza Wesson—what is she capable of, and why was she stolen from her family so long ago?

My Review:
Stolen picks up pretty soon after Frozen ended. Nat is the awesome Drakonrydder of Vallonis. She is doing her duty to protect The Blue. She has learned how to use some of her powers and her and her Drakon are pretty much one in the same. They appear to be winning against what the world throws at them. Up until a new weapon cripples her and her Drakon. The Drakon burrows into the Earth in hopes to heal but, it is not guaranteed, he is hurt pretty bad. Nat is broken. She feels the loss of her Drakon. With the help of one of her friends she is able to come to her senses and live. While all this is going on with her Wes is having troubles of his own. He is trying to find his sister who he learned is still alive. It is not an easy task. It turns out to be more life threatening then anticipated. Will these two ever get what they want and be able to just life a happy quite life?

I swear when I read this book I thought these guys were in their 20's. Not teenagers. They way they act and things they have to do are just crazy. This is probably because of the way life is now. Earth is a harsh place to live and would cause you to have to be an adult at a young age. They are in life and death situations pretty regularly. I did like how the magical world played such a big role in Stolen. We get to learn a lot about the other characters and their roles in this new world. Magic is all around them and even inside people who had no idea. The twist with Eliza I NEVER saw coming! OMG! I am still shocked at how this book ended. Anyway, Nat and Wes have a lot to work through. Luckily they get to do some of it together.

Nat and Wes have feelings for each other. They are pretty cute together. I was hoping for a little more action between them but, they were pretty busy not dying and saving their friends from certain death so...I forgive them. The supporting characters are also awesome! There is a bit of a love triangle but, not really. Ok, more not really. Nat is very into Wes. I liked that!

The book ended with an INSANE cliffhanger. I was like NOOOOOO it can't be done! Please let there be another chapter. Seriously, the next book needs to come out soon!

My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole.
My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn-- is crazy.

I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me.

I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline.

Dare DuBray.

He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me.

He has the power to destroy me.

Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt.

Why? Because of a secret.

A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming.

You won’t either.

ARC Review of Captive by Aimee Carter

Goodreads Summary:
For the past two months, Kitty Doe's life has been a lie. Forced to impersonate the Prime Minister's niece, her frustration grows as her trust in her fake fiancé cracks, her real boyfriend is forbidden and the Blackcoats keep her in the dark more than ever.

But in the midst of discovering that her role in the Hart family may not be as coincidental as she thought, she's accused of treason and is forced to face her greatest fear: Elsewhere. A prison where no one can escape.

As one shocking revelation leads to the next, Kitty learns the hard way that she can trust no one, not even the people she thought were on her side. With her back against the wall, Kitty wants to believe she'll do whatever it takes to support the rebellion she believes in—but is she prepared to pay the ultimate price?

My Review:
All I can say about Captive is hold on to your seat because it is a WILD ride. Things for Kitty are only getting worse. She is having a hard time maintaining her secret identity. She wants her own life with Benjy. She gets to steal moments with him but, it's not what she wants. She understands how important it is for her to keep her fake identity going though. Things get insane when the minister finds out about her and with the help of Knox she is sent Elsewhere. Yes, Elsewhere. She does not have fun here, it is pure torture. What I did learn was everything happens for a reason. Whether Kitty believes it or not the Rebellion must happen and is really important. Will Kitty be able to continue her lie or has it put her life at risk to much? Can she live with the deaths her actions have caused?

There were so many times I wanted to just grab Kitty, shake her and just give her a good slap. She either was all in to help or flat out refused. She went back and forth so much. Her actions caused the deaths of quite a few people actually. I think this fact will eventually weigh on Kitty. Especially one person!!! I was like OMG! NOOOO! Seriously this book threw me in so many loops I couldn't put it down. Kitty needs to man up and be all in or all out. This half in crap just doesn't work.

Benjy is still the main love interest. His relationship with Kitty is very cute and they deeply care about each other. I like that their isn't really a love triangle in this series. I like Benjy, I do but, I really like Knox. Even though him and Kitty pretty much have a "next time I see you I'm going to kill you" relationship during Captive. I have this think about the underdog. Therefore I have high hopes for Knox and hope he finds love. Even if during Captive he was being quite the jerk.

Captive was full of surprises. The Rebellion is starting and a lot of lives have been lost already. Kitty also finds a long lost relative which I thought was a great twist. The world is about to change and the book ended with quite the curve ball so I will be anxiously awaiting the next book!

Life Before Damaged Volume 1 by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
Money. Power. Sex.

The trifecta every man strives for and very few attain. I had these things and walked away from the endless stream of women, from the family fortune, from everything. It was all mine in a life long forgotten. The past can't stay buried forever and hiding mine from Sidney is getting harder. I'm not the guy she thinks, and if she knows the truth I risk losing her.

The thing is, I feel those old ways pulling me back, and if Sidney is part of my life she has to know. If she doesn't it could destroy us both.

The truth won't set me free. No matter what my name is, I'll always be a Ferro. But Sidney has a choice and I won't steal it from her.

Genre: New Adult Romance

This story unfolds over multiple volumes approx. 125 pages each.

My Review:
Let me just start by saying I think we need these for all the Ferro men. Life before they were the men they are now. Let's be honest they would be insanely interesting and eye opening. All the Ferro men have a back story that led them to be who they are and I think we all need to hear them! Anyway, Peter's story starts out very interesting. The first night he meets Gina. The story is actually Gina's journals that Peter has found. Sydney is reading them because Peter doesn't want to keep secrets from her. Honesty is always a good place to start since they are engaged. I am curious to see where this story will go and how Sydney will react to it. Will it end up being to much for her? What could Peter be so afraid of?

I am glad we get the chance to know Gina. She seems like a good person so far. Someone who lives life by the rule book, a good girl. The night her friend convinces her to have a rave at one of her Dad's warehouses ends very badly for her. The events of the night lead to her needing to leave the scene so her Dad doesn't know she was involved. Who comes to the rescue? None other then Peter Ferro.  Needless to say, the night has taken a very eventful turn. Peter is a hot sex god and Gina is drawn to him. She has a boyfriend she loves but, their sex life is very vanilla. She can only imagine what sex with Peter would be like. Could she go through with it if she had the chance?

Such an eye opening volume. I can only imagine what will happen to get to the present. I will be looking forward to the next installment!

Goodreads Summary:
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife's head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media--as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents--the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter--but is he really a killer?

As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn't do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?

I keep a calendar of tour, review, and read book by dates on my phone with alerts haha. It's also important to have fun too.

Goodreads Summary:
The past is Darker than they thought...

Between helping her mother with the Darker Agency and laying the smack down on monster baddies, Jessie Darker puts the “normal” in paranormal. But lately, things have gotten a little crazy...even for a smart-assed half-demon teenage girl.

For starters, Jessie’s been contracted into fifty-five years of annoying servitude. To a demon. Then there’s Lukas Scott, her sexy new boyfriend. Once the former incarnation of Wrath, he’s been going through some...uh, changes. Like residual anger. And trading chaste hangouts for lusty make-out sessions.

But it’s when Lukas and Jessie accidentally release a Very Nasty Demon that things get really bad, setting into motion a chain of death and mayhem that threatens both Earth and the Shadow Realm. Jessie has exactly four days to fix it...before all of Hell breaks loose.

Question of the Week
Create a playlist for a book - or a single song if you don't want to do an entire playlist - Suggested by This Girl Reads A Lot and Bubbly and Bookish

This is the perfect question for this week. I have the perfect song for a book I recently finished!! And I have been trying to figure out a way to post about it so here we go! The song is Amnesia by 5 Seconds of Summer. Not all the lyrics apply and neither does the music video but, a lot of it describes how Lacey and Karson after Karson leaves Lacey. How they suffered.
