THE CAMP:
Emma has always tried to be perfect in her almost eighteen years of existence, but it has never been good enough. As she finds herself counting the days until she’s officially free from her parents’ reins, her stepfather hands her a plane ticket explaining that she must attend the Re-Boot Camp in the wilds of Alaska.Once she lands in the middle of nowhere, she realizes the camp is nothing like she imagined, and she wants out immediately. That is until she meets Liam.
The camp is full of teens with dark pasts, but she finds herself drawn to Liam’s ability to see who she really is and who she wants to become. While Emma and Liam begin adjusting to a place neither wants to be, frightening events begin to unfold. When people begin disappearing, it becomes apparent they can only trust one another as they fight for survival.
My Review:
I really liked the cover of this book. It caught my eye instantly when i was asked which book to review. I'm always a sucker for a little romance. This book was a great summer read! I didn't expect the creepy element to be so great. Emma isn't so much a troubled teen. It's more like her mom and step dad are just awful people and wanted to get rid of her. Her family's story is truly sad. I don't know how people could treat a kid like that. So Emma arrives to the island for "ReBoot camp". So she can learn her "lesson". She is having an ok time and actually meets a great/hot guy, Liam. Shortly after though strange things start happening. Men taunting Emma at night through her tent, campers disappearing, and even deaths. Let me just say I had a few theories on who the bad guy was and I was wrong about both! I was surprised that there were no adults at the camp. A bunch of older teens /people in there twenty's watching over teens with criminal backgrounds seems like a bad idea. However, ideal for a crazy guy to try to kill them. Will Emma and her new companions survive this summer? Who is behind these abductions?
I liked most of the characters in the story. A lot of the other guys were typical teenagers with raging hormones. I really liked Steph though. She was a camp leader and was really nice and helpful when it came to Emma. She was kind of her only friend there other then Liam. Chelsea was the other girl at the camp and she was not so nice haha. But, what happens to her kind of sucks so I like her a little more now that I have finished the book.
To the love interest! I have to say that I really liked Liam. He was a great guy. Very protective. He grew up around the area and therefore knew everything about the island the camp was on. He was kind of like a handyman. I felt like him and Emma kind of jumped into things quickly. They did eventually get to know each other as the book went on. There were strenuous circumstances to and I would try really hard to have at least one person I trusted fully. The romance didn't go to far but, there was some kissing and cuddling which is ok with me. It would have been weird if more were to happen in a situation like that. I loved how we got to see them in the epilogue. It tied things up perfectly.
I really enjoyed this book and if you are looking for a quick summer read it is the one for you. A little romance/suspense/crazy people will always work for me.
