ARC Review of Off the Record by Sawyer Bennett (18+ Review)

Goodreads Summary:
The sparks of dislike burn hot, but the sparks of mutual attraction burn even hotter.

Ever Montgomery suffered the ultimate betrayal by the one man who she should have been able to count on for anything. It has left her hurt, jaded and incapable of forming relationships, but it also means that she can spot a liar a mile away. These traits are earning her a reputation as a reporter with a keen nose for a good story and a complete understanding of the extreme power of the written word.

Lincoln Caldwell, is the hot goalie for the New York Rangers. At twenty-four and a rising star, he works hard and he plays even harder. He’s gorgeous and carefree—the ultimate charmer. Ladies fall at his feet and the single life has never been lived the way Linc Caldwell does it.

When Ever publishes an article about Linc containing information that she received off the record, she finds herself on the receiving end of the athelete’s fury. Rather than basking in the glory of exposing Linc as a shameless user of women, she finds herself at his mercy when he demands and receives retribution. Required by her editor to trail Linc for six weeks, Ever is forced to look at the real Linc Caldwell.

And she just might find that she has misjudged him.

My Review:
I am in love with this series you guys. Linc has become my favorite. Ever hasn't had your typical childhood. Her father left her and her mom at a terrible time. It has permanently scarred her. She has never been able to have a normal relationship with a man. Marc was as close as she got and to me he was a big giant jerk. That situation didn't help her at all. After meeting Linc at a party with friend Emily, Ever writes an article for her paper about him. However, she uses information she didn't check facts on and received off the record. Of course this leads to some mad people. Linc is not happy. In order to make up for it Ever has to accompany Linc for 6 weeks to avoid a major lawsuit instead of going on an assignment that could be huge for her career. So you can just about imagine how that will work. Two upset people being forced to live with each other for the sake of their job or reputation. Will they be able to get along and not kill each other? Will Ever be able to have a real relationship? Is Linc the perfect medicine for her scarred heart?

I loved that Emily and Nix made appearances! I loved their story in the previous book. Ever's Mom and Linc's Dad were great people too. The perfect parents. Ever's Dad was not my favorite. What he did is pretty awful. I would have reacted the same way Ever did.

Like I said earlier I am in love with Linc. He is a hot hunk of man. Seriously. There are some super sexy scenes in this one. I mean like fan yourself hot. The 6 weeks they had to spend with each other ended up being the best medicine for both of them. Linc turned out to be a pretty great guy in my opinion. Ever has a lot of insecurities to work through and they get the better of her on a few occasions. Trusting men is not something she is good at. She is fiercely protective of her heart and for good reason. Will Linc break through the ice she has around her heart? Will Ever be able to let go?

I loved this book! I am so glad the author reached out to me with her first book because this series is great. The epilogue was great because we get to see how Emily and Nix's relationship develops too. I hope the series will continue! If you haven't started this series yet you really need to!
