Goodreads Summary:
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.
Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!
My Review:
Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite stories. So of course a retelling of it with the Fae is going to be a for sure read for me! I was really looking forward to this book! Feyre has had a rough go of things. Her family has lost everything and she has to do what she can to help support them by hunting in the woods near their home. I felt like Feyre was kind of burdened by having to take care of her sisters. She has two of them and wishes they would marry and leave so she can do more of what she wants to do. She had to grow up faster then she would have liked and missed out on things that she wants. Little did she know that hunting would change her life in a way she never expected. After a hunt a stranger comes to her door and not a human one either. A fae. Who claims he has taken from her and now she must come with him or die. What will Feyre do?
I really enjoyed Tamlin. He has a lot of atributes that a human bad boy would have. I loved the building of his world as well. I felt like I was there and could picture it in my mind. The iconic story of Beauty and the Beast can be felt through out the book. I did feel like this one took a darker turn. It was insanely fun to read. Tamlin and Feyre are such an interesting pair. I was sucked in by their story.
I really enjoyed this book. I have always been a lover of the Fae so it was perfect. The ending totally blew me away and has left me sad that the next book isn't due out until 2016. Sometimes books leave you dying for more and this is one of them!
We rated this one the same^^ I adored it just not quite as much as her Throne of Glass series haha :D But man, the characters, the world-building and the swoony, slow-burn romance were AMAZING! Such a brilliant adaptation of Beauty and the Beast ♥ Wonderful review! x
