WICKED Synopsis:
Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans. Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart. Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her. But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Goodreads Summary:
WARNING: This is CORA'S story: This book may be considered NA (new adult) because it contains some swearing, violence and sex scenes: Suitable for ages 17 and up. A Clean Version will also be available on Amazon.

Eighteen-year-old Cora Jemison knows what it’s like to date a soul reaper. There are no Friday night movies, no school dances, and no stolen kisses between classes. It totally sucks! What makes it even worse, souls pop up when she least expects it. The last one is not her fault, but it all adds up to zero quality time with her super hot, scythe-carrying boyfriend, Echo.

Since Cora was etched with special runes by an evil Immortal, she understands why souls are drawn to her. She makes the best of it by helping souls find closure while Echo escorts them to the realm of the dead. Perfect partners, until a dark soul visits Cora in the dead of the night and Echo decides her soul-helping days are over.

Cora can either listen to Echo or follow her instincts. To make matters worse, other reapers start stalking her, demanding she hand over the soul. Even her Valkyrie friends think she’s gone too far. But something sinister is coming their way, and the soul is the key to saving her town, her friends, and her relationship with Echo. Can she convince Echo to see things her way before it’s too late?

She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.

She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. RELEASE DAY BLITZ!! Pulled Within by Marni Mann

About the Book

Storms can't last forever…can they?

For five long years, Rae Ryan has lived in a storm over which she has no control. Little by little, everything has been taken away from her—her job, her relationship, her best friend and her home. Plagued by nightmares and a terrible family secret, she carries her scars as much on the inside as she does on the outside.

Hart Booker, another disappointment from her past, returns to Bar Harbor and shelters her from the rain. He reminds Rae that forgiveness is possible, happiness can be found on the other side of darkness, and beauty rests beneath her scars. But a sinister figure lingering in the background seems determined to pull Rae back into a past she’s been trying to outrun. Can she survive the storm and become part of the light she so desperately desires? Or is she destined to remain Pulled Within?

Recommended for mature audiences due to explicit language, sexual abuse, disturbing situations, and drug use.

 My Review:
This book deals with some serious issues. Rae's life is not what she dreamed it would be. She has dabbled with some drugs, has lost her job, and since Brady went to rehab she is about to be homeless. Her childhood was not a happy one. She went through some terrible things. Things that change you as a person forever. She is not the same anymore. After finding a new job in the town a drive away she runs into an old flame. Hart is back. For Rae this isn't all good. He broke her heart broke her. He left her and then her life went down hill. She needed him and he wasn't there. So she is conflicted about what to do with him. The problems with drugs really hit home to me. My family has been affected by them more then once. So I felt like I understood where Rae was coming from. I didn't like her in the previous book but, after this one she has my respect. Will Rae be able to turn her life around? Can she survive?

I loved Hart. I mean, he did something he shouldn't have done and he regrets it. He knows that Rae is having trouble and has been through some serious crap. He gives her time and does not push her to tell him everything, He is jealous of Brady, about how much he knows about Rae and Hart doesn't. Rae and Brady are as close of friends as you can get and that's it. Hart knows this and is able to get over it. I felt like Hart saved Rae. That if he hadn't shown up she may not have survived. Seriously. That's how bad it was. I felt so bad for her. To have to live that life. Hart opened her heart to love again. After so much pain she was finally ready to love again. Will it last or is Rae destined to be in pain forever?

This was a very hard book for me to read. Just with how hard the drug addiction stuff has been for my family. It changes lives and isn't an easy thing to deal with for any part of the family. This book was written so well and it was so true to life. I really liked it. I can't wait to see where this series will go from here. I am hoping we get Brady's story!

No Exceptions #2 (No Exceptions, #2)

My Review:
This one picks up right where the previous book left off with Brooke running away from the hotel she saw Jett and his ex kissing. She is truly heart broken. Forever changed. So what do you do when you cut ties with your hot rich boyfriend? Get a modeling job that may require you to be nude of course! I was all like "Go Brooke!" because she is doing something for herself. Yes she needs money and not just a minimum wage job either. Working with Grayson seems like a pretty good thing. She goes back to Sylvie's after and proceeds to finally break down. She has had a bad few days and needs to just let go. Things all change when she goes out with a group of models after a shoot. Given her condition drinking a lot is not an option but, after a few sips she feels completely drunk. The girls have found the mystery man to take her mind off Jett. The man at the club who is waiting. What Brooke doesn't know is that this night will change things forever.

Sylvie is once again a great friend to Brooke. She is concerned for her and is there for her through thick and thin. It is great to have a friend when there is so much going on in your life. I feel like she brought up a lot of good points for Brook to think about. Especially about her condition :) I'm trying to be spoiler free here! Anyway, I am curious to see what will happen with these two coming up since they appear to be room mates again!

I feel like we need Jett's POV of this whole situation. There were numerous times I was like "Just talk to him!!!" I think a lot of Brookes heartache could have been avoided if she would have just talked to Jett about everything. I mean there were other things she needed answered. Like her deleted email. I am very curious as to why Jett is doing all this behind her back. I can't wait to find out why! These two are obviously still scorching in the romance department but, they need to figure out their emotions. Especially given Brooke's condition. Will they be able to fix what's broken?

There is a lot going on here. A lot that we don't know yet. I am hoping we get some answers in the next book. I am glad at how fast they are coming out though! I am not a very patient person haha.

Forest of Whispers by Jennifer Murgia

Goodreads Summary:
Raised by an old fortune-teller within the dark veil of the Bavarian Black Forest, Rune has learned two valuable lessons: only take from the forest that which you can use, and never, never look anyone in the eye in the village. For something terrible happened in the forest long ago... and now, the whispers of a long-dead mother with a vengeful secret have come haunting.

Forced to flee all she has ever known, Rune soon learns of a legacy she is bound to--one that is drenched in fear, witchcraft and murder--a birthright that stretches beyond the grave to the trees where Rune is no longer safe.

My Review:
I loved the time period of this book. It is set in the 1600's in Germany. All of the geographical information actually exists in Germany which I thought was insanely cool. People here are scared of what they don't understand or what could be consider "evil". Rune lives in the black forest with an old fortune teller who is the only mother she has ever known. Her Mother died when she was born. she has many questions about her past and her mother. Living in the Black Forest has its dangers. People in the city are protected from it's dangers by a hedge that is suppose to keep witches out. This area has a bad history with witch craft. One day when the fortune teller is with a client and Rune is out collecting herbs in the forest she starts to hear a voice. A voice telling her to do things. A voice that claims to be her mother. How can this be? Will Rune get the answers she seeks?

Rune is a great character. She starts out as a girl who doesn't know who she is. She is very strong willed and has good morals. Despite what her mother encourages her to do, she stands her ground. Even when her guardian is captured and accused of witch craft she holds her ground. Which is insanely hard to do given the circumstances. She learns how to adjust to her circumstances and over come some pretty big obstacles. She has to go through things that no teen should ever have to go through. Her life is in danger numerous times and she still remains strong and refuses to use her gifts for evil.

There is a potential love interest too! Laurentz is the son of an Electorate of a near by castle. He stumbles upon Rune by accident as his horse almost stomps on her. He is instantly drawn to this beautiful strange girl. A girl who could heal a wound with weeds??? Despite the attraction that these two share they never talk about it. It simply is there. Laurentz tries to help Rune throughout this dangerous time for her. He does like her but, there are some other reasons behind it. I was so drawn to these two. Their relationship felt real. Not instalove. It wasn't like, hey you were almost burned alive lets make out! I loved it. Getting to hear from both of their POV was great.

I really enjoyed this read. It was an easy read. I loved the time period and the world building. It drew me in quickly. I also love books about witches. This one is different too. Not what you typically read about powerful witches. I will be anxiously awaiting book 2!

ARC Review of Uncivilized by Sawyer Bennett (18+)

Goodreads Summary:
**Warning: This book is a wild, sexy beast of a read. 18+**

Savage man, loner, warrior… I am dangerous at my core. I have lived amidst the untamed wild of the rainforest, in a society that reveres me and where every woman falls before me in subjugation.

Now I’ve been discovered. Forced to return to a world that I have forgotten about and to a culture that is only vaguely familiar to my senses.

Dr. Moira Reed is an anthropologist who has been hired to help me transition back into modern society. It’s her job to smooth away my rough edges… to teach me how to navigate properly through this new life of mine. She wants to tame me.

She’ll never win.

I am wild, free and raw, and the only thing I want from the beautiful Moira Reed is to fuck her into submission.

She wants it, I am certain.

I will give it to her soon.

Yes, very soon, I will become the teacher and she will become my student. And when I am finished showing her body pleasure like no other, she’ll know what it feels like to be claimed by an uncivilized man.

My Review:
Omg....you guys...this book! It is by far one of the hottest books I have ever read. EVER! I can't get over it. From the first few chapters I was hooked into Zach and Moira's lives. Moira is given the task of bringing Zach home. He is no longer the boy who was left with the tribe when his missionary parent's died. He is a man. A savage, dominant, beautiful man. Moira is almost immediately attracted to this man. A man who screws someone else and never takes his eyes of Moira...not the entire time. Omg, hold on to your panties because it only gets more hot after that. Zach agree's to leave his new family to give it a try in the states for 1 year. He has no intention of staying but, he will give it a chance. Zach remembers a little bit from before he was in the Amazon for 16 years but, not a lot. Moira does her best to teach him about modern life and technology but, Zach has other interests...of the sexual nature. Moira is in for the ride of her life with this Uncivilized Man. Can she get him to stay? Does she want him to stay?

This book is in both Zach and Moira's perspectives. Which is definitely needed, to see what Zach is thinking. Which sometimes I had no idea! At first he tries to make it difficult for Moira because he knows she is attracted to him. He does this by walking around naked all the time, using his new crude words, and asking her the one thing she can't do. He want's to learn about sex in this new world. Wants her to teach him and not with books. His tribes way is so different. You can just about imagine how his internet searches go and what he learns there! O_o Zach is starting to feel things for Moira...things he's never felt. Could he truly leave her to go back to the Amazon?

Moira is a prestigious professor at a university. She is getting paid to help Zach acclimate back to the states. This has proven to be very hard considering his hotness and nakedness. She does her best to remain professional but, it's impossible! Trust me Moira is still conflicted about it but, what can you do? These two have an insanely hot romance. Like can't catch your breath kind...Like I want my own uncivilized jungle man! Things slowly start to change for them. It's no longer just lust and crazy hot sex. Feelings are involved. Until a tragedy happens. One that could put them on opposite ends of the Earth forever. What will they do?

OMG! I loved this book! I read it in two days and could not stop. It was...ugh...I am without words. Mind blowing? This is my new favorite read by Sawyer Bennett. Go get this one! Seriously!!!

ARC Review of Boarded by Love by Toni Aleo

Goodreads Summary:
Jude Sinclair here, hockey player for the Bellevue Bullies and lover of all ladies. Hockey’s in my blood, and not to sound full of myself, but I’m good at it…really good. The draft is within my reach—it’s mine to take—but that’s not the only reason people know my name. They know me because of my way with women. They know the score, and I aim to please. I just tend to stay away from repeat performances. In other words, I don’t do relationships beyond my family and friends. I’m happy with life. However, I should warn you that my story and how I see it playing out is about to change due to a certain redhead on campus.

She’s beautiful. Stunning. Breathtaking.

She’s my game changer.

~*~

He’s trouble from the moment I see him. I don’t know what I’m thinking, but from the moment I meet his gaze, I’m his. It’s a scary feeling.

I’ve never trusted anyone outside my aunt and uncle—and even that took months. I didn’t have it easy growing up. My mom was usually strung out, and she didn’t give me a second thought. Drugs and the men who paid her were more important to her. It was horrible, but I’m stronger today. Because of my past, security is what I need most. Money assures me that I can take care of myself today, tomorrow, and next month. I don’t want to ever be hungry or go without again, so I work hard for every penny.

Oh, by the way, I’m Claire Anderson. I’m a hard-studying sophomore at the University of Bellevue, dancer for the school dance team, and a burlesque dancer at a club, but that’s my secret.
You may think you know how our story ends, but you have no clue. It’s not easy falling in love… or living happily ever after. At first it may seem so, but when is anything worth having ever won without a fight?

Especially when you’re boarded by love.

My Review:
College hockey players where have you been all my life!? I clearly missed out when I was in college. We get both Jude and Claire's POV in this book. If you've read the other Assassin books you will know Claire pretty well. She has had a rough life but, was saved by her uncle Phillip and soon to be aunt Reese. She is in college now and doing well on her own. She is an amazing dancer and helps Reese out in her dance studio, dances and choreographs a burlesque show at a club, and goes to college. Holy crap she is busy! She has never really been in love before. She is not a virgin by any means but, those feelings are always missing. Claire knows what she wants to do with her life, what she doesn't expect is Jude Sinclair. The hot tattooed star hockey player for the Bellevue Bullies team. They are about to change each others lives. A whirlwind romance is blooming. Can they survive it when only knowing each other a few months?

Jude and Claire fall for each other quickly. Jude gives up his man-whore ways after only knowing her a couple weeks and Claire wants to give them a chance. I felt like they rushed into things but, who am I to judge. Attraction is the basis for all relationships right? I was waiting for the ball to drop the whole time. For Jude to screw up...for him to cheat. He had opportunity. The way he completely changed made me nervous. They even meet each others families which is hard for Jude considering Claire's uncle is a professional hockey player. He is basically in awe of all of them haha. I really enjoyed that. His family is also a little rocky. His dad is an ass basically. Will these two learn to trust each other in such a short time or are the secrets they are keeping going to destroy them?

These two fall for each other so fast that I can understand why secrets are kept. They are kind big secrets though. Secrets that could destroy families and ruin their trust for one another.  One thing is for sure though, they are defiantly sexually compatible and college life works well for them both. Their relationship is repeatedly tested by family, friends, and random girls. Will they make it out with their hearts intact?

I am a huge fan of the Assassin's book series so the tie in was so perfect for me! I love that we still got to see my favorite characters. The hockey game in the epilogue was fricken awesome and I loved every minute of it. So perfect! This is definitely a must read! Especially for the Assassin fans.

Are you also a writer and what genre or did you ever consider writing? - Suggested by The Pegster Reads

I am not a writer. I would be lying if I said I never thought about it though. I love books and I would love to be able to contribute to this wonderful book world. Alas, I am not good with sentence structure or proper writing techniques haha. I grew up in the era of shortening everything and always having spell check to save me. I wouldn't even know how to start. I don't see myself writing anything. Although it would be awesome if I did!

When her thoughts aren't roaming in that direction, she'll be riding wild horses, skiing the slopes of Aspen or scuba diving with a hot rock star, all without leaving the cozy comfort of her office.

About Michelle:  I love coffee and chocolate, even more so when they are combined.  I'm convinced that one day they could be the basis for world peace.  I also love the color red and am seriously considering dying my hair.

Shorter Bio:  New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, M. Leighton lives in the deep South with her super-hero husband and super-smart maltipoo.  She has a fondness for coffee and chocolate, loves the color red, laughs at almost anything and often stares out her window, daydreaming of far-away places.

Wishlist Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly post put on by Dani at the Pen to Paper blog. Where you post a book you really really want to read or one that has been on your wishlist!

Title: Alibiz
Author: Karice Bolton
Series Number: 2
Release Date: October 2014

Summary:
Rebekah vows to expose the truth behind the RecruitZ that are killing the innocents. These creatures must be stopped, but so should the people controlling them. When Rebekah uncovers who is behind the uprisings, her own life becomes in danger.

Rebekah knows that she is not alone in this fight but vengeance alone won’t help her and the others to victory. Forced to build a battalion with the very creatures she needs to destroy, it is up to her to uncover the truth for the public before the world is turned over to an elite few.

Regardless of what may happen to her, she knows it’s a race against time to destroy these creatures and the monsters controlling them before there is no one left worth saving.

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, RecruitZ. It is the only Zombie book I have read and liked so I am super curious to see where this story will go for Rebekah and Preston!

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. It is hosted by Tynga's Reviews. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

I have so many books to read right now that I am trying not to buy any!

Physical ARC

Goodreads Summary:
When Eva Tilling wakes up in the hospital, she’s confused—who in her sleepy little North Carolina town could have hit her with their car? And why? But before she can consider the question, she finds that she’s awoken with a strange new skill: the ability to foresee people’s deaths when they touch her. While she is recovering from the hit-and-run, Nate, an old flame, reappears, and the two must traverse their rocky past as they figure out how to use Eva’s power to keep her friends—and themselves—alive. But while Eva and Nate grow closer, the killer grows increasingly frantic in his attempt to get to Eva.

For the first time, New York Times bestselling author Melissa Marr has applied her extraordinary talent to contemporary realism. Chilling twists, unrequited obsession, and high-stakes romance drive this Gothic, racy thriller—a story of small-town oppression and salvation. Melissa’s fans, and every YA reader, will find its wild ride enthralling.

Goodreads Summary:
Turner Campbell is an asshole.
I f*cking hate him.
But I can't get enough either.
He sings like an angel and f*cks like a devil.
If I could, I'd run away and never look back because to tell you the truth, I think this man might be the death of me.

***

Naomi Knox is a bitch.
I can't f*cking stand her.
But I can't stop thinking about her either.
She looks like an angel and plays like a devil.

If I could, I'd f*ck her good and forget all about her, but to tell you the truth, I think this woman might be my last saving grace.
