Goodreads Summary:
“I raise my chin as the buyers stare. Yes. Look. You don’t want me. Because, eventually, accidentally, I will destroy you.”
In a world at war, a slave girl’s lethal curse could become one kingdom’s weapon of salvation. If the curse—and the girl—can be controlled.
As a slave in the war-weary kingdom of Faelen, seventeen-year-old Nym isn’t merely devoid of rights, her Elemental kind are only born male and always killed at birth — meaning, she shouldn’t even exist.
Standing on the auction block beneath smoke-drenched mountains, Nym faces her fifteenth sell. But when her hood is removed and her storm-summoning killing curse revealed, Nym is snatched up by a court advisor and given a choice: be trained as the weapon Faelen needs to win the war, or be killed.
Choosing the former, Nym is unleashed into a world of politics, bizarre parties, and rumors of an evil more sinister than she’s being prepared to fight . . . not to mention the handsome trainer whose dark secrets lie behind a mysterious ability to calm every lightning strike she summons.
But what if she doesn’t want to be the weapon they’ve all been waiting for?
Set in a beautifully eclectic world of suspicion, super abilities, and monsters, Storm Siren is a story of power. And whoever controls that power will win.
My Review:
Nym has had a very hard life. Bought and sold as a slave with no rights. She is not normal, she is cursed. She is an Elemental and the only female Elemental ever. According to the current laws she shouldn't even be allowed to live. When she is being auctioned off by her latest owner something happens. Her hood is removed and everyone instantly knows what she is. Ciaos ensues and Nym's dangerous abilities are unleashed. She wakes up in a strange place in a bed that isn't hers. Nym's life is about to change. She is taken by the court adviser who wants to use her as weapon to win the war or she will be killed. Nym's life now is like none she has ever lived. She has to go to parties and train with a bald boy named Colin who has powers of his own. Will Nym be able to kill the enemy? Can she choose to use her gift who has killed before by accident or is she destined to die?
Nym is in a strange new world. Breck is the blind servant girl who is suppose to keep an eye on her and help her adjust. She is pretty spunky and I loved her. Colin is Breck's brother and has the power to manipulate the ground. During the day Colin and Nym are forced to train, to use their gifts to kill the enemy. This is hard for Nym as she has accidentally killed people, including her parents. So using her power around Colin and their trainer Eogan is hard for her. She doesn't want to hurt the people she has grown to care about. Especially Eogan. She is drawn to him and his mysterious way of calming her when he touches her. Will she be the weapon she is training to be?
Eogan is kind of a love interest of Nym. Nothing crazy intimate happens but, they are definitely drawn to each other. Eogan has been keeping a very big secret from everyone though. One that will change everything. After an attack on Faelen, it is time for Nym to go to war. This is a prime example that in war people die. People you love. Both sides experience significant lose. Especially when one side has an advantage over the other. This horrible monster the Bron's have on their side tips the tables. Not everyone will survive this war...
This book kept me on the edge of my seat right up until the last sentence. I never saw the end coming! The world building was great. It took me a bit to figure out what everything was that was being talked about. I am really hoping there will be a book 2! Get this one when it comes out people!
A blog about books I have read and what I thought. I review a lot of YA as well as New Adult and Adult books. So just an FYI!!

ARC Review of Visions by Kelley Armstrong
Goodreads Summary:
As #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong’s new Cainsville series continues, Olivia’s power to read omens leads to the discovery of a gruesome crime with troubling connections to her new hometown.
Omens, the first installment in Kelley Armstrong’s exciting new series, introduced Olivia Taylor-Jones, daughter of notorious serial killers, and Gabriel Walsh, the self-serving, morally ambiguous lawyer who became her unlikely ally. Together, they chased down a devious killer and partially cleared her parents of their horrifying crimes.
Their success, however, is short-lived. While Olivia takes refuge in the old, secluded town of Cainsville, Gabriel’s past mistakes have come to light, creating a rift between the pair just when she needs his help the most.
Olivia finds a dead woman in her car, dressed to look like her, but the body vanishes before anyone else sees it. Olivia’s convinced it’s another omen, a sign of impending danger. But then she learns that a troubled young woman went missing just days ago—the same woman Olivia found dead in her car. Someone has gone to great lengths to kill and leave this young woman as a warning. But why? And what role has her new home played in this disturbing murder?
Olivia’s effort to uncover the truth places her in the crosshairs of old and powerful forces, forces that have their own agenda, and closely guarded secrets they don’t want revealed.
My Review:
Olivia has traveled a long rough road to get to where she is. She is still living in Cainsville and still seeing Omens. With the help of Gabriel her parents are cleared of one of the murders they were put in jail for. However, things are only good for a while. Olivia finds a body in her car that is dressed to look just like her. By the time Gabriel gets there the body has vanished. Leaving Olivia feeling like she is losing it. Not only that but, Gabriel has been keeping secrets from Olivia and when she finds out the crap hits the fan for them. There were times I just wanted to shake Gabriel and tell him to wake up! To feel something! The way he acts sometimes...he has the emotional capacity of a wet mop. The body is only the first in a string of events and dead things that gets Olivia closer to some answers. What is going on with Cainsville and are her and Gabriel at the center of it?
After Gabriel's betrayal Olivia is pretty lonely. What do you do when your lonely? Get together with a young hot biker boy! Yes, we get some serious action between Olivia and Ricky!! I was so excited that she finally gets some fun after that butt ex-fiancee of hers! I still have the hope that Olivia will end up with Gabriel but, seriously he needs to lighten up! Be a little less shady and realize he has feelings for Olivia! Needless to say, I am glad that Olivia had a short time to relax, get some, and have fun with motorcycles.
There is a lot going on in this book. I love the little chapters from the towns people of Cainsville and Gabriel. There were times I was angry and times I was scared. Yes, I said scared. The chapters in the abandoned buildings where they were trying to find a young girl freaked me the heck out! There were times I was happy to. It was awesome to see that Olivia and Gabriel had a friendly relationship. Like actual friends. Not employer and employee. They both start to realize something is off about Cainsville and the people there. That they are both somehow connected to the town and yes the truth is revealed! It was sooo not what I expected either but, I am excited to see where the story will go from here!
I love these characters and now that we know what's going on, kind of, in Cainsville. Things are bound to get even more crazy. I can't wait for the next book! I have all these theories that I am hoping will be right!

Question Time!
1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging on January 10, 2012. Wow, I have learned so much since then!
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
I love connecting with authors. Yes, I totally fangirl out when then message me back or share something of mine. There are a few that I talk to pretty regularly. The blogger community is pretty awesome too. I have made some blogger friends that have been great and helped me figure some stuff out over time.
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I blog about a lot of YA, New Adult, and Adult books. I have found that as I have aged I have started to lean more towards upper YA, New Adult, and Adult books. However, YA holds a special place in my heart because that is what got me started on this adventure. I am also hooked on paranormal. I LOVE it. You give me a good paranormal romance and I don't care what age group it is, I will read it! Bring on the aliens, vampires, faeries, werewolves, Gods, angels, and demons and I will dive into that world for hours.
4. What is your favorite book(s)?
This is an ever changing answer. I have found books that I love many times. Right now I would have to say the one that I can't get out of my head is The Fault in Our Stars. I know...who hasn't read it and liked it right? I waited a lot time to read it and just recently did. I am also knee deep in Jennifer Armentrout's Lux series right now (alien love!). Daemon is currently on my night stand staring at me, begging me to read Opposition.
5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I have met some pretty awesome people. That is probably the best part. The blogging community is huge! It is so awesome to have so many people with the same passion to talk to. I also love the books! I have had authors contact me or people suggest books I may have never found or thought about before. I have been introduced to so many books I have loved this way.
This Weeks Question
Social Share! What is your favorite social network and leave us a link so we can join you!
This is hard. I am a total social media junkie. I am literally on Facebook and Twitter whenever I can. Usually if I am bored I surf Twitter and Facebook. I have a blog account and personal account for both. All of my social media would come to a total of 8 different ones. That's a lot of passwords to remember! By far my favorites though are Twitter and Facebook. What would we do without them!

That's What He Said Thursday! Featuring Boarded by Love by Toni Aleo
“So I heard you want to dance with somebody,” I say teasingly.
She laughs. “Maybe. You the man for the job?”
I find myself nodding like a fool. “I could be the heat you’re looking for.”
Shaking her head, she looks away. “Didn’t I say you were trouble?”
“You did,” I say and I take a step closer. “But I think you are going to ignore that and take advantage of me.”

-Jude to Claire
Boarded by Love by Toni Aleo
Coming September 8th, 2014!
Jude Sinclair here, hockey player for the Bellevue Bullies and lover of all ladies. Hockey’s in my blood and, not to sound full of myself, but I’m good at it... really good. The draft is within my reach—it’s mine to take—but that’s not the only reason people know my name. They know me because of my way with woman. They know the score, and I aim to please. I just tend to stay away from repeat performances. In other words, I don’t do relationships above my family and friends. I’m happy with life. However, I should warn you that my story and how I see it playing out is about to change due to a certain redhead on campus.
She’s beautiful. Stunning. Breathtaking.
She’s my game changer.
He’s trouble from the moment I see him. I don’t know what I’m thinking, but from the moment I meet his gaze, I’m his. It’s a scary feeling.
I’ve never trusted anyone outside my aunt and uncle—and even that took months. I didn’t have it easy growing up. My mom was usually strung out, and she didn’t give me a second thought. Drugs and the men who paid her were most important. It was horrible, but I’m stronger today. Because of my past, security is what I need most. Money assures me that I can take care of myself today, tomorrow, and next month. I don’t want to ever be hungry or go without again, so I work hard for every penny.
Oh, by the way, I’m Claire Anderson. I’m a hard-studying sophomore at the University of Bellevue, dancer for the school team, and a burlesque
dancer at a club, but that’s my secret.
You may think you know how our story ends, but you have no clue. It’s not easy falling in love, or living happily ever after. At first, it may seem so, but when is anything worth having ever won without a fight?
Especially, when you’re boarded by love.
About the Author
Toni Aleo is the author of the Nasvhille Assassins series: Taking Shots, Trying to Score, Empty Net, Falling for the Backup, and Blue Lines. When not rooting for her beloved Nashville Predators, she’s probably going to her husband’s and son’s hockey games and her daughter’s dance competitions, taking pictures, scrapbooking, or reading the latest romance novel. She lives in the Nashville area with her husband, two children, and a bulldog. OMG, volume 5 hits you right where it hurts. If you thought the Ferro's were invisible you are incorrect. I love that these volumes are 125 pages. I read this one in a matter of hours and couldn't put it down. Ward keeps you on the edge of your seat each and every time! By this point we all know that Bryan is really sick and doesn't think he has much time to live. Hallie is really broken up by this. She finally gets him back only to find out she's going to lose him. Ugh, and I love Bryan! He is one of my favorite Ferro's. I have said it before, Hallie is one of my favorite leads for Ward's books. She is strong and it really showed in this book. When Bryan's aunt and family find out about his condition a team of doctors are called in to decide his fate. Will Bryan and Hallie get more time or will his days be cut short?
This book wasn't as much sex and lust as the others. It was very caring and emotional. Well, at least it was for me. I cried....Hallie gets to spend most of the time with Bryan until a ghost from her past starts to haunt her. This ghost
wants to kill her for what she has done. Hallie makes a decision that may end badly for her. Will she make it out alive? Will her and Bryan get years or days?
I loved this series and I am sad to see it end with 5. Be prepared because this one is so loving and sad that your going to need tissues. It hits you right in the feels. The ending does open up another story line that I hope is followed...like really really hope! It was a bitter sweet ending but, it did fit with the story.
Blackmail. Sex. Ferro.
Time is my enemy and I won’t waste another second. I have a choice to make: a life with Neil or what’s left of life with Bryan. I make my decision, but could lose everything when the one Ferro I never want to see interferes. I feel like my life is spiraling out of control, but this could lead to what I’ve been searching for all along—hope.
Genre: New Adult Romance
This concludes a story unfolded over five volumes of approx. 125 pages each.

EXCERPT:
Katy
I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely. But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides. No. Thiscouldn’t be happening. No way.
My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true.
After all, he’d healed me, but then I thought of what Dee had said, of how Dee had behaved with me. What if Daemon was like her? Turned into something so foreign and cold? He would’ve healed me just to make sure he was okay.
I still didn’t stop.
Please, I thought over and over again. Please. Please. Please. On shaky legs, I crossed the long room, and even thoughDaemon hadn’t seemed to even acknowledge my existence, I walked right up to him, my hands trembling as I placed them on his chest.
“Daemon?” I whispered, voice thick.
His head whipped around, and he was suddenly staring down at me. Our gazes collided once more, and for a second I saw something so raw, so painful in those beautiful eyes. And then his large hands wrapped around my upper arms. The contact seared through the shirt I wore, branding my skin, and I thought—I expected—that he would pull me against him, that he would embrace me, and even though nothing would be all right, it would be better.
Daemon’s hands spasmed around my arms, and I sucked in an unsteady breath.
His eyes flashed an intense green as he physically lifted me away from him, setting me back down a good foot back.
I stared at him, something deep in my chest cracking. “Daemon?”
He said nothing as he let go, one finger at a time, it seemed, and his hands slid off my arms. He stepped back, returning his attention to the man behind the desk.
“So . . . awkward,” murmured the redhead, smirking.
I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché.
“I think someone was expecting more of a reunion,” the Luxen male behind the desk said, his voice ringing with amusement. “What do you think, Daemon?”
One shoulder rose in a negligent shrug. “I don’t think anything.”
My mouth opened, but there were no words. His voice, his tone, wasn’t like his sister’s, but like it had been when we first met. He used to speak to me with barely leashed annoyance, where a thin veil of tolerance dripped from every word. The rift in my chest deepened.
For the hundredth time since the Luxen arrived, SergeantDasher’s warning came back to me. What side would Daemon and his family stand on? A shudder worked its way down my spine. I wrapped my arms around myself, unable to truly process what had just happened.
“And you?” the man asked. When no one answered, he tried again. “Katy?”
I was forced to look at him, and I wanted to shrink back from his stare. “What?” I was beyond caring that my voice broke on that one word.
The man smiled as he walked around the desk. My gaze flickered over to Daemon as he shifted, drawing the attention of the beautiful redhead. “Were you expecting a more personal greeting?” he asked. “Perhaps something more intimate?”
I had no idea how to answer. I felt like I’d fallen into the rabbit hole, and warnings were firing off left and right. Something primal inside me recognized that I was surrounded by predators.
Don't miss the books that started it all...
