While most seventeen-year-old American girls would refuse to let their parents marry them off to a stranger, Robyn Mason dreams of the mysterious McKale in Ireland, wondering how he’ll look and imagining his cute Irish accent. Prearranged bindings are common for magical families like her own, however when she travels to the whimsical Emerald Isle she discovers there’s more to her betrothal and McKale’s clan than she was led to believe.

But one giant obstacle stands in the way of their budding romance: a seductive and deadly Fae princess accustomed to getting what she wants—and what she wants is McKale as her plaything. Love, desire, and jealousies collide as Robyn’s family and McKale’s clan must work together to outsmart the powerful Faeries and preserve the only hope left for their people.

Goodreads Summary:
Chloe Valcourt drifts between two worlds: the dark reality of her domineering mother and feeble father and the vivid fantasy of her imagination. With her condition comes the harsh observation of doctors who intend to cure her of it. But a chance encounter with a handsome and vaguely familiar young man in her dream world hints at the possibility of hidden truths—and a life she can’t remember. As her drifts become a greater escape from the cruelty of the real world, Chloe finds herself lost between what is real and what is imagined, questioning her very existence. Can she remain in the lush new imagined landscape to find happiness in a realm of her own invention? Is she doomed to return to the harsh reality of the outside world forever? Or will she become trapped somewhere between the two…unable to return to either?

Goodreads Summary:
She has a secret.

I’m complicated. Not broken or ruined or running from a past I can’t face. Just complicated.

I thought my life couldn’t get any more tangled in deceit and confusion. But I hadn’t met him. I hadn't realized how far I could fall or what I'd do to get free.

He has a secret.

I’ve never pretended to be good or deserving. I chase who I want, do what I want, act how I want.

I didn’t have time to lust after a woman I had no right to lust after. I told myself to shut up and stay hidden. But then she tried to run. I’d tasted what she could offer me and damned if I would let her go.

One secret destroys them.

Question of the week
How have your reading habits changed in the past few years? Did you get interested in a new genre? Do you read more? Less? Why do you think your habits changed, if they did.

I would say that I actually have started reading more. I am no longer in college and have more time on my hands. We haven't decided about having kids yet so until then I have all the time in the world I guess. Reading is my only hobby so it's what I do in my spare time. Hence the name of my blog. When I am on call for work I tend to read less because I work more, that does suck. It is a better schedule that I used to have. Having a Kindle has also made it more affordable/easier to read so that helps too. What can I say, I'm addicted!

ARC Review of Affirmation by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary:
Things are off, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Some things, however, are the same. For example, the sex with Matt is just as nuclear and consistent as it always has been.

Still… I feel like I’m holding onto Matt with my fingertips, like he’s on the verge of slipping away and I don’t know what to do.

When I started these Legal Affairs, I had no way of knowing the depth of feeling that would become involved. I had no way of knowing this man could shatter my existence.

I don’t want to be hurt, so I’m grasping hard and I can only hope that he wants me enough to hang on just as tight.

My Review:
I am so sad to see this series end. It has been so amazing. Mac feels like there is something off about her and Matt's relationship. Their sexual chemistry is as good as ever but, he is almost indifferent towards her. She feels like he is pulling away ever since Matt’s little issue with Marissa. Things just keep getting worse and then a new attorney is brought in. A female, named Kylie and her intentions towards Matt are far from innocent.  This leads to things only getting worse between Matt and Mac. Mac is done, she has had enough of Matt’s cool exterior and flirting with Kylie and she lets Matt know it. Will these two be done for good? Will Matt ever get over his insecurities?

One thing these to have figured out for sure are their sex life. Wow, I mean explosive knock your socks off. Mac is completely ok with that part of their relationship. She just really needs that emotional connection with Matt. She feels it, but does he? I like that Mac distanced herself from Matt. She needed to figure herself out and he needed to realize what he had lost. Will Mac get her happily ever after?

The ending I thought was perfect for these two. I don’t want to spoil the ending so I’m not going to tell you what happens. This was such an amazing story and I loved every minute of it. Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorite authors and I will continue to read everything she writes! Go pick up this series!!

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly post put on by Dani at the Pen to Paper blog. Where you post a book you really really want to read or one that has been on your wishlist! Title: Nearly Gone
Author: Elle Cosimano
Series Number: 1
Release Date: March 25, 2014

Goodreads Summary:
Bones meets Fringe in a big, dark, scary, brilliantly-plotted urban thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end.

Nearly Boswell knows how to keep secrets. Living in a DC trailer park, she knows better than to share anything that would make her a target with her classmates. Like her mother's job as an exotic dancer, her obsession with the personal ads, and especially the emotions she can taste when she brushes against someone's skin. But when a serial killer goes on a killing spree and starts attacking students, leaving cryptic ads in the newspaper that only Nearly can decipher, she confides in the one person she shouldn't trust: the new guy at school—a reformed bad boy working undercover for the police, doing surveillance. . . on her.

Nearly might be the one person who can put all the clues together, and if she doesn't figure it all out soon—she'll be next.

My Thoughts:
This book sounds really interesting. I also like the cover. It has me curious anyway. I haven't read anything by this author but, I am going to give this one a chance for sure!

RELEASE DAY BLITZ!! Pulled Beneath by Marni Mann!

About Pulled Beneath:
What happens when you uncover years of secrets and find out everything you thought to be true was a lie?

Drew Stevens finds her world turned upside down when her parents are brutally murdered. Soon after, she learns she inherited a property in Bar Harbor, Maine from recently deceased grandparents that she believed had died when she was a baby.

Drew travels north to settle her grandparents’ estate, but finds more questions than answers as the truth starts unraveling. What she didn’t expect to find was Saint, whose reputation was as tumultuous as his past. But the very thing that brought them together was the same thing that kept them emotionally caged.

With Saint’s scars so deep and Drew’s so fresh, can the pair heal from their painful wounds or will they be pulled beneath the darkness of their pasts?

My Review:
Drew has been through a lot. Her parents are murdered and she is thrown into a new life, one where she feels alone. After she finds out she has inherited a house in her mom’s home town she travels to Bar Harbor, Maine to check it out. She has no desire to stay in Maine but, is looking forward to getting away for bit. She is convinced that there is nothing for her in Maine. She begins the process of renovating the house with the money she was left and getting out of there. She starts to meet the locals and having somewhat of a life there. She is drawn towards her mysterious neighbor, Saint. Who lives on a boat and swims at night. That is kind of how they break he ice. Swimming is a way for Drew to totally forget everything and let go. Drew finds herself getting attached to the people of Bar Harbor. She is also starting to figure out some family secrets. There is something going on here and she needs to figure it out. Will Drew figure out the secrets of her past? Will she fall for Saint?

There were a lot of great characters in this book. Gianna was one of my favorite. She was an amazing friend to Drew through all of this. She was there for her. She gave Drew, a kick in the butt when she needed it too. She was very outspoken. I just loved her! My favorite though was Bella, and yea she's a dog, a yellow lab to be specific. She was the loyal companion to Drew. The only one who had survived the murder at her parents. Drew didn't do much without Bella. Mann did an amazing job portraying this relationship in words.

I really liked Saint. He was beautifully broken. He had so much going on with his life too. Him and Drew were so good for each other, even if they didn't realize it right away. Saint is quite accomplished in his young life, although he is not without his scars. Him and Drew work towards a path of healing, one that sees so far out of reach. Will they be able to heal together?

This book was so well written. You truly feel the pain that Drew felt through the words on the page. I would lightly recommend this one to anyone!

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:
One kiss could be the last

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

My Review:
I was soooo excited for this book! It was insanely hard to wait for. After reading it I can say for sure that it did not disappoint. Let’s start with the content first. Gargoyles, otherwise known as Wardens!!! Yup, I have never read any other series about them. They are the protectors. They fight Demons in the human world. I was drawn into this world instantly. Layla is half Warden and half Demon. She helps the Wardens by “tagging” the demons. Even though she helps, she has never fit in with her adoptive family of Warden’s. Except for when she is with Zayne. He has always accepted her and been there for her. There are a lot of secrets kept from Layla and things are starting to get weird. Demons appear to be hunting her. She is helped by someone she never imagined would be an ally, a demon. Will Layla figure out what is going on? Is it possible for her to survive this, with Warden’s and Demons hunting her?

Layla is one tough cookie. Living with Warden’s is not easy, especially when most of them hate her because of what she is. To live with this everyday would be hard. To never feel like you belong. Layla doesn’t tell the Warden’s when she feels like she is being hunted, especially about the mysterious Demon who saved her. She puts so much pressure on herself to be a Warden and ignore her Demon half. What she doesn’t know is that it will take both sides to survive what is coming.

There are two love interests here. Zayne the hot Warden who has been there for Layla her whole life and one of the only Warden’s that treats her nicely. He sticks up for her and is very much like a big brother. I feel like Layla has always loved him but, being she is half Demon he is not allowed to be with her. Mostly I got the brotherly vibe from him, not a ravishing passion kind. My heart truly lies with Roth, the hot and dangerous Demon. He is very secretive, cryptic, and beautiful. I have always had something of the bad boy and Roth is the embodiment of that. He is a Demon and he is very upfront about it. He is not always a nice guy and he does hurt people. He grows to have a soft spot for Layla and I absolutely loved their relationship! It was filled with passion and emotions. Something neither of them expects. And bonus, Layla can kiss him because he doesn’t have a sole so she can’t suck it out! Woohoo! Roth claims to know how to help Layla and keep her safe. Will he succeed? Will Layla ever understand where she fits into this world?

I LOVED this book. I don’t know how I am going to be able to wait for October when the next book comes out! I am going to be suffering from serious Roth withdrawal, especially with how this one ended. Jennifer Armentrout has done it again with this series. Her writing just keeps getting better and better!!

Seventeen-year-old Sonia is in her senior year when she realizes that she is even more different from her friends than she thought. One day there’s an incident with her and another student, proving she has the same ability to control people as her mom. Though she has had a few similar experiences before, this incident verifies exactly how different she is.

Things really begin to change when Sonia meets a senior named Anthony. Soon she finds herself consumed by him—which is shocking—because she’s just not one to fall in love. Anthony is handsome and mysterious, but that’s not what drives Sonia crazy. While other guys usually fight for her attention, Anthony doesn’t even give her the time of day. And even stranger yet, her ability to control people doesn’t work on him. Little does Sonia know that he keeps a deep secret too, and that that very secret holds the answer to who she really is.

With only a few weeks left of school, horrible things happen: Three of Sonia’s cousins, living in another state, are killed, and Sonia’s mom vanishes without a trace.

Anthony tells Sonia that her mom has been taken to an invisible island called Wraithsong, and that his mother is the abductor. To save her mom’s life, Sonia is forced to accept Anthony’s help and travels with him to find the island, but when Anthony’s mother discovers they are working against her, she sends someone to kill Anthony and capture Sonia.

Goodreads Summary:
Two young seeksmen are dead, and Sydney blames herself. The only way to get her sister back from the county’s clutches, while also preventing more death, was to offer her own life in exchange for Evvie’s freedom.

She expected a dreadful end, but nothing like the prison in which she wakes. Agonizing county life is redefined in Neo-Necropolis, new city of the dead, which lies beneath the earth. Worse than being allegedly deceased, is the false identity Sydney is forced to assume where Evvie, Sheridan’s captain, and Crewe never existed.

Kira, Samm, and Marcus fight to prevent a final war between Partials and humans in the gripping final installment in the Partials Sequence, a series that combines the thrilling action of The Hunger Games with the provocative themes of Blade Runner and The Stand.

There is no avoiding it—the war to decide the fate of both humans and Partials is at hand. Both sides hold in their possession a weapon that could destroy the other, and Kira Walker has precious little time to prevent that from happening. She has one chance to save both species and the world with them, but it will only come at great personal cost.

Goodreads Summary:
What if all the legends you’ve learned were wrong?

Brutally attacked by one god and unfairly cursed by another she faithfully served, Medusa has spent the last two thousand years living out her punishment on an enchanted isle in the Aegean Sea. A far cry from the monster legends depict, she’s spent her time educating herself, gardening, and desperately trying to frighten away adventure seekers who occasionally end up, much to her dismay, as statues when they manage to catch her off guard. As time marches on without her, Medusa wishes for nothing more than to be given a second chance at a life stolen away at far too young an age.

But then comes a day when Hermes, one of the few friends she still has and the only deity she trusts, petitions the rest of the gods and goddesses to reverse the curse. Thus begins a journey toward healing and redemption, of reclaiming a life after tragedy, and of just how powerful friendship and love can be—because sometimes, you have to sink in the deep end of the sea before you can rise back up again.

From Alexandria’s point of view

Never taking his eyes off me, he rested his hand on my shoulder, and then gingerly slid down my arm, giving me pleasurable tingles…EVERYWHERE. Afraid to move the tiniest of my muscles, I felt locked in place. I was enjoying him far too much. I didn’t want it to end. When he finally reached my hand, he pulled it up to his mouth and made the most pleasurable groan I’ve ever heard. Looking exhausted and dazed, he shifted his eyes to the cookie in my hand, and mumbled slowly, “I think I’ll have that cookie now.”

Nothing registered until I saw his lips part, and my fingers disappeared in his mouth. Oh. My. GOD! My pulse skyrocketed, and I whimpered from the warmth of his tongue and the sensation that shot up my arm. My fingers were very wet sliding out of his mouth. I even felt the feather-light graze of his teeth; and I could swear every single muscle in my body became limp.

His jaw worked quickly, chewing. It was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. He made eating a cookie SO hot. After he swallowed, he turned the other way, picked up my cup of milk, and chugged down whatever was left.

Looking like he couldn’t believe he just drank milk, he placed the cup down. “Good night, Alex. Don’t ever go racing without me,” he ordered, and then he left.

What just happened? Milk and cookies will never be the same for me…EVER.

ARC Review of Darkside Sun by Jocelyn Adams

Goodreads Summary:
Addison Beckett tries hard to pretend she’s normal, but she’s far from it. Since she was six years old, she’s seen the world around her unraveling, as if someone is pulling a thread from a sweater and it’s all slowly coming undone. When she ignores it, it goes away, so that’s what she does.

Enter her arrogant-but-hot professor Asher Green. He knows all about her special brand of crazy. In fact, he might be just as nuts as she is. Asher insists that the dead from a parallel dimension are trying to possess the living in this one. And since Addison seems to be the only one who can see these “wraiths,” she just might be the key to saving the world.

Addison wants nothing to do with Asher or his secret society, The Mortal Machine. But as their animosity grows, she finds it harder and harder to ignore the chemistry between them. And when she discovers that Machine laws forbid her from touching him, she realizes that’s all she wants to do.

Stop the wraiths. Break the rules. Save the world. All in a day’s work.

Normal was overrated, anyway.

My Review:
This book has so many elements to it. Addison goes from college girl to dealing with the paranormal world in ways I have never read about. For most of her life that she remembers she has dealt with seeing things. Things that couldn't possibly be from this world. She has done a good job of ignoring them until her college class. Where she gracefully dive bombs the class! From this point on her life will never be the same. She is about to enter a world full of hardcore people, wraiths, parallel worlds, and huge life changing decisions. Can Addison become the person she is destined to be? Is she really like these people?

Addison kind of has a guide through this new world. Asher. Her fake teacher. He is the most hot and cold person I have ever read about. He is nice and sexy sometimes then he is cold and mean the next. He never tells her exactly what's going on but, expects her to trust him. Addison is pretty snarky and I loved that. She called Asher out on his crap a lot which I don't blame her for. She has entered this whole new world and needs to know what's going on. We do get the answers just not right away.

Things at The Machine are not as they seem. There is a mole amungst their ranks who is trying to destroy them. They have all these rules that no one really understands. They just follow them blindly. Addison see's right through it. With some help of course. Will Addison be able to save The Machine and risk everything she used to have?

This stroy is so jam packed full of information and twists and turns. It was an amazing paranormal ride. A very well thought out story with great characters. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

Some Like it Wild by M. Leighton

Goodreads Summary:
How far will a good girl go for the bad boy she loves?

Laney Holt is a preacher’s daughter. A good girl. Her only goal was to get married, have babies, and live happily ever after, just like her parents. Only that didn’t happen. The two people closest to her betrayed her, and Laney’s dreams came crashing down. Now she’s left with an empty space she doesn’t know how to fill. Until she meets Jake Theopolis, a daredevil with a death wish who has heartbreaker written all over him.

Jake has no interest in thinking beyond the here and now. All he wants out of life is the next rush, the next “feel-good” thing to keep his mind off the pain of his past. His latest rush? Showing Laney there’s more to life than being a good girl—and that going bad can be so much fun. Her only concern now is how she can ever hope to satisfy the wild side of a boy like Jake. She’s looking forward to trying. And so is Jake.

My Review:
Who hasn’t had that fantasy of the bad boy who comes along and defiles their goodness?! Exactly! Everyone. Laney Holt is no different. She is the daughter of a preacher and has been a good girl her whole life. She has grown up, has a man that she’s going to marry and live happily ever after. That is until she is betrayed by the two people she loves. Laney then flees to her home town for her job, one appraising the house of none other than bad boy Jake Theopolis. He also happens to be a fireman! These two have a bit of a history. Laney knows Jake is a bad boy who gets what and who he wants when he wants them. Maybe this is just what she needs? Jake might be the perfect person to take her mind of things to take her on a trip on the wild side!

Laney has a different family dynamic. Her Dad is still a big part of her life. He still tries to control her. He tries to do what he thinks is right for her even though he doesn’t know the whole story. What happened between Laney and her fiancée is still a secret. Laney hasn’t told her parents. I was so upset with her parents for putting her in such uncomfortable situations.

Laney and Jake have a pretty hot relationship. There is a lot of sexual tension. It isn’t your typical relationship either. Laney doesn’t want to be a good girl anymore. She wants to get out of her shell and Jake is super willing to help her out. Laney experiences many new things with Jake. Laney quickly learns that she likes this new her. However her past is coming back to haunt her and Jake doesn’t like commitment. Will Jake be the hero? Will he be able to save Laney or will Laney save Jake?

A lot happens during this story! Some crazy events at the end leads to life altering changes for both Laney and Jake. M. Leighton does it again with this one guys. Pick it up people.

Goodreads Summary (Oooo cover love!!!):
"The fate of an entire people rests on my shoulders. I am heir to a dying throne, daughter of a dead city. I have made hard choices to get this far … ”

Mermaids have never been scarier …

The Feed is upon me and my destiny is laid out before me like a map. There are no detours, no hidden whirlpools that descend into the unknown. Everything I do must be carefully planned or else my choices could come crashing down around me. To change the hearts of my people, I must find the courage to surpass their expectations, to defy tradition and forge my own destiny.

This is it, my last chance at redemption

The Huntswomen, sirens of the sea, have one real purpose in life: on their sixteenth birthdays, they must travel ashore and find a human male, mate with him, and consume his flesh. Only then can they return to the sea and become the last bastion against the violet ocean, warriors for their weaker brethren, the fishtailed merighean.

Natalie is the heir to the throne of the last merighean city still standing, but there's something about the Feed that doesn't sit right with her. When she meets Seth, the man with the strange tattoos, she knows that she must forge her own destiny, even if it means breaking the rules and risking her mother's wrath. Because sometimes, to choose your own path, you must make hard choices.

ARC Review of Legal Affairs Reparation by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary:
Matt Connover is like a new person. Caring, romantic and thoughtful. No worries though… he’s still sexy as hell.

He has changed in every way that I have ever dreamed of, and he did it because he wants me. It’s like a fairy tale of sorts.

Except… like with every fairy tale, there is a villain. One who threatens to disrupt the harmony we have created together.

Is what we have strong enough to survive? I truly believe that perhaps I can find love within these Legal Affairs. I’m just not sure Matt believes it.

My Review:
Reparation gives us a whole new version of Matt and Mac. Matt is finally ready to be in a relationship. A real one with dateing and normal people stuff. Well apart from crazy sexy interludes and hot love making that we only wish we had! Ok...back on track now. Things seem to be going ok with these two. I think everyone is going to adore this new version of Matt that we get to see. He has finally let Mac in. That is until Matt's past comes up to bite them in the butt. Will Matt and Mac be able to make it past tis bump in the road?

Oh baby, the side of Matt we get to see in this one is super hot. Hard to beleive that the caring and less self indulged Matt would be the hot one. Him and Mac get down in some pretty hot and sexy situations. I mean seriously....Anyway, Matt even introduces Mac to a very special someone in his life. Who is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. Matt and Mac seem to have a budding relationship but, I fear their pasts will be a hard thing to get past. Will they be able to?

I am so loving this series and I can't wait for the next volume!! I need to know how things will end for Matt and Mac. I have high hopes but, we will have to see. I also see some darkness coming, I could be completely wrong but...Anyway, I need the next volume!!!

Question of the week
Recommend some of your favorite back-list books - books that are at least a few years old (I’m thinking 5-10 years old rather than classics).
I know this is going to sound weird but, I honestly didnt read much 5 years ago. I was in college and was so busy with it that I didn't read much. One of my favorites came out in 2008 and it was the Wake Trilogy by Lisa McMann.
