Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Goodreads Summary:
What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

My Review:
I have been trying to figure out how to write this review all day. I finished Allegiant last night, in tears. I will keep my review spolier free but, honestly I don't know where to start. Tris's world is turned upside down. In Allegiant you find out how the world became what it is in the books. It has a lot to do with genetics and a government experiment gone wrong. Tris, Four, and their friends learn that they haven't been living in the real world. That they don't really know anything. The group gets out of the city and ends up at The Bureau. A place where the learn the secrets of how their city came to be. Can Tris and Tobias figure out whats going on? Will they all survive this?

Tris has always been one of my favorite female characters. She is strong and fierce. Willing to do anything for the greater good. This is ultimately her weakness as well. She makes a lot of bad decisions. I realized however that she is also only 16. She shouldn't have to be doing all this. She should be going to prom with Tobias!! Ok, sorry, back on track. Tobias and her friends ground her. They keep her in the now. I felt bad that they had to try to save the people they hate.

Tobias...This was the first time I was disappointed in him. He chose to be with the rebellion at The Bureau way to easily. I was like, they are lying!!! Think about it! I was so frustrated! He was also very much a great boyfriend to Tris. Minus the rebellion part where she told him he was being stupid. He loved her. He would die for he. They are the perfect couple in more ways then one.

This is the hardest review I have ever written. I honestly skipped over a lot of the genetic talk. It felt like a filler for the story but, whatever. The end of the book is emotionally traumatizing. I cried for like 10 minutes. I felt like this review was all over the place because I am still reeling from it. I think it would have been a good ending without what happened too.

My Reaction:

I couldn't have read that right...goes back to re-read

This can't be happening...

OMG...no!

More ugly crying...

The next day...

BLOG TOUR!! All the Pretty Lies by M. Leighton

ABOUT ALL THE PRETTY LIES:

All the Pretty Lies
“Live, no regrets”

Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life.  However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her.  She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over.  For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday.  So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them.  It’s never had to be.  He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember.  Right up until tragedy struck.  Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession.  But the one thing they can’t find is a future.  Neither one has been totally honest.  And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details.  In the details and in the lies.

How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

My Review:
This turned into one of my favorite books from M. Leighton. I loved the characters and the story was awesome. Sloane has lived a very sheltered life. I mean who wouldn’t with cops for brothers and your dad. Now that she is 21 she would like them to know that she intends to live each day to the fullest on her terms. She doesn’t need to be constantly under their thumb. She wants some freedom and I don’t blame her at all! She’s going to break some rules and let go of some personal barriers. Which, I have to say, were super fun to read about! Sloane meets Hemi when she is doing her rule breaking. Getting a tattoo of course! He is the big handsome cocky type. Sloane quickly develops an attraction to him. However, Hemi has not been honest with her nor her with him. Will secrets ruin what they could have? Is there a future for these two? Is time running out?

All the Pretty Lies flowed so well. I never felt like there was a dull moment. It went back and forth between Hemi and Sloane’s point of view. This kind of gave you a glimpse into what was going on behind the scenes. You knew Hemi had a big secret but, he never flat out said until later in the book and Sloane’s is a doozy. I NEVER saw it coming. I was totally shocked.

Hemi is pretty much a bad boy who goes through a lot of women. He is more into the older women who know what they are doing. This is why Sloane throws him for such a loop, because she is in fact a virgin. He is so drawn to her and well lusting at her. These guys have some pretty hot moments. I mean need to turn the fan on hot. I was impressed that Hemi never pushed her. He definitely evolved into a good man despite him trying not to.

This was such a great addition to M. Leightons ever growing list of awesome books. I loved the characters and am excited for the next book!

Vain by Fisher Amelie

Goodreads Summary:
If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah...then you’re gonna’ hate my story.

Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I've found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.

I’m Sophie Price...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

My Review:
I was worried that I wouldn't like the main character much in this one. I mean come on, a vain girl? However, it turns out I liked Sophie! Vain is story about how a girl who doesn't really like herself or the person she is blossoms into a beautiful person. Sophie had it all, money, men, and drugs. She is the queen bee of all her rich friends. She takes who and what she wants when she wants it, because she can. She is beautiful and knows it. She uses it to get what she wants. Unfortunately. for her, she gets caught with drugs for a second time and the judge isn't lenient. She is sentenced to six months in Africa at her Fathers lawyers orphanage. This is the worst thing Sophie could imagine. How can she go to Africa where there is hardly electricity and warm water? Will Sophie be able to do this? Will this be what it takes to change someone who has given up on herself?

Sophie's life is one of privilege. She lives in luxury. However, her parents are pretty much out of the picture. They don't seem to care about her very much. They are simply her parents. I felt bad for her. I feel like what she did was just to get their attention. This punishment actually scares her. She is worried about how she will manage it and if she can actually do it. Things start out kind of rocky. The man who is sent to pick her up, Ian “Dingane” Aberdeen, automatically assumes he knows what kind of person she is and that she isn't going to be able to do this. Karina and Charles are a little more perceptive to her. She is in a state of shock for a while. This isn't your average orphanage. Her eyes are opened to the horrors these kids have been through. Little does she know they will forever change her.

Ian is probably your ideal image of a hero. He is beautiful, amazing with children, and probably has the biggest heart in the world. He is pretty perfect. He has dedicated his life to these kids and wouldn't be anywhere else. He is hard to get to know and kid of a quite guy int he beginning. He ends up helping Sophie become a better person. Well and they flirt...a lot. I would have looooved a little more romance but, I'm ok with it.

The ending was perfect! I just fell in love with this story. I couldn't put it down. I instantly went and bought Greed when I was done. Read it people!!

Goodreads Summary:
Straight out of the psych ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The guy she’s loved from a distance for years moves away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.

The chemistry between them is mind-blowing.The connection defies logic. Even better, the souls leave her alone when he is around.

Too bad Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. He is also a soul reaper. A Grimnir.
The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life.

Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:
It's a beautiful day for a war.

As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.

And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself.

My Review:
I am so sad to see this series end. I have really enjoyed it. Sentinel was an action packed conclusion to the Covenant series. I went through a lot of emotions while reading this one. War is upon them. Not everyone survives this. People are forever changed. Ares is causing a lot of trouble and Alex and Seth need to take care of things. Being the only two who can become a God-Killer and all. All Alex wants is her happily ever after is that so much to ask? Unfortunately for her it seems that is not in the cards. She does everything in her power to keep those she loves safe. She is damaged after the way Ares left her. Aiden is there for support but, she doesn't want to see him hurt either. She has to deal with a lot. A lot more then she ever wanted. She is happy to give her life for them though. In order to defeat Ares, they must do the unthinkable. Deals are made and peoples futures are lost. Will Alex be able to defeat Ares? What will happen to her and Aiden? Will she get her happily ever after?

I am all my favorite characters were back. Deacon, Luke, and Olivia. They are great friends who are also willing to fight for everyone. This is more then just Alex's fight. She is fighting for all people. To keep Ares from winning. She can't do it alone. She is lucky to have such amazing friends. War is a nasty thing that doesn't always end they way you expect it to. There was a lot of kick butt fighting in this one. There was also a lot of loss and heartache. There's a lot of lovein, training, and soul searching that takes place. Especially for Seth...and the soul searching part.

Aiden is my favorite now but, it took 4 books to get me off Seth's team. I had faith in him that he wasn't just an asshole. You will have to read to find out whether I am right on that one. Aiden and Alex have such a beautiful relationship. They truly need each other to survive. Lets be honest here, they have some super hot moments and they felt right for the book. I so wanted them to have a normal life!! However, war never really ends the way you want it too.

I can't say that I am super happy with the ending. I liked it. I suppose it's as happily ever after as you could get really. I'm glad it wasn't the cookie cutter, they won and everyone goes home happy kid of ending too though. It's hard to explain. A lot of emotions happened in the last 20 pages. I was shocked then sad then happy then kind of sad again. I will wrap it up by saying, I have really liked this series and I am sad to see it end but, all good things must come to an end!

Opposites do more than just attract in Toni Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.

The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lies behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.

Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

Goodreads Summary:
An original ebook-only novella in the Splintered series, told from the points of view of both Jeb and Morpheus. Morpheus wants to know more about his rival for Alyssa's affections, so he digs into Jeb's memories of his time in Wonderland. But he may be surprised by what he finds.

This brand-new story and perspective from A.G. Howard's dark, magical world stands alone, but also provides a tantalizing glimpse of what's to come in Unhinged, the sequel to Splintered.

Goodreads Summary:
A coming-of-age tale of fan fiction, family and first love.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan . . .

But for Cath, being a fan is her life — and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

Goodreads Summary:
This time, the straight-and-narrow path could be the road to ruin.

Dr. Elyse Morgan’s mission: find the cure to the HTN4 virus. The compensation, courtesy of the United Nations: a lab stocked with hi-tech goodies, limitless resources and enough chocolate to make her rear look like a cellulite farm. Bonus: she gets to live.

Rescued (kidnapped) and secreted (imprisoned) on an undersea warship, Elyse adjusts to her assumed identity as a cadet with the finesse of a toeless ballerina. Her sulfuric temper and blatant insubordination capture the unwanted attention of the ship’s captain, the gorgeous, infuriating, engaged Nicoli Marek.

Elyse would rather perform her own autopsy than become the other woman, but Nicoli—who’s as full of himself as he is of secrets—regards his impending marriage as a mere political transaction. And Elyse as fair game.

As Elyse’s suspicions about the UN’s true agenda mount along with her attraction to the relentless, chronically shirtless captain, she must choose between the murky path to everything she’s ever wanted, or the squeaky-clean path of self-sacrifice—which could mean taking the secrets of the virus with her to the grave.

Warning: Features a strong, chocolate-loving heroine who takes no prisoners on the way to saving the world from an epidemic and winning a captain’s heart.
