Question of the Week
Activity: Spine Poetry. Create a line of poetry with your book spines (take a picture). Not feeling creative? Tell us about your favorite poem.
Ok, so I just moved and all my books are still not unpacked!!! I do however have a favorite poem. Or at least I think it's a poem. Maybe not haha but, I really like it. It was said at my wedding :) Might be kind of cheesy of me but, I love it!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Obsession by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:
He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?

My Review:
Holy Crap you guys. Obsession was a crazy ride of lust, passion, action, and loss. I was blown away by this books. I didn't want to put it down. I have a whole new take on the Luxen and Arum. Serena's life is thrown into a tail spin when her friend Mel is murdered by something that couldn't be human. She doesn't feel safe and is worried something may happen to her. When she goes to get her car she runs into someone...someone...who isn't normal. Then when she gets back to her apartment she is attacked and mystery man steps in again.

Hunter is basically a jerk who works for the DOD and is forced to keep Serena safe because of what she might know. He doesn't like it. He is definitely a guy that does what he wants when he wants. After being alone with just each other things heat up between these two. Serena's life is in danger by more then just the Luxen out to kill her, Hunter is dangers and life threatening too. Will these two ever get along? Will Hunter be able to keep Serena safe? What does Project Eagle mean and why is it so important for the Luxen to keep it secret? Oh so much intrigue!

Serena and Hunter are pretty secluded after he takes her to his place. They have to deal with each other. Serena is stubborn at times and hunter is kind of an ass. Which you learn to LOVE about him! He's a pretty good protector too. They work together to figure out what is going on with the Luxen. Let me tell you it's not good. Which surprised me. Anyway, Hunter and Serena have some serious sexual chemistry, the only trouble is Hunter has a hard time keeping himself from going dark and feeding off Serena. He comes close to killing her a few times. I tell you what though, their sexual encounters will leave you in a heap hotness. Hunter starts to feel things he never has before and is willing to do things that he's never done. Will this new newness be able to survive war? A better question would be does Serena survive these two alien races?

OMG you guys this was probably my favorite book of this year so far. I loved it!! I didn't want this book to end. Jennifer Armentrout is an amazing writer. This book brings together the best of both alien worlds. I can't wait to see who this stuff turns out. It's crazy!! Oh, and you get to see Daemon! YAY! Ok, you need to read this book NOW!

Suffocate by S.R. Johannes

Goodreads Summary:
Suffocate is the first novelette in THE BREATHLESS series. It is a 15,000 word young adult thriller that combines the dystopic and science fiction genres.

For centuries, the world outside the Biome has been unlivable. Today, marks the first time anyone will attempt to leave the suffocating ecosphere. Eria is not worried because her scientist father has successfully tested the new Bio-Suit many times.

It's a celebratory day until something goes horribly wrong. In the midst of tragedy, Eria uncovers a deep conspiracy in her perfect bubble. If those responsible find out what she knows, they won't stop hunting her until she takes her last breath.

The 2nd novelette in the series, CHOKE, is scheduled for June 2013. The 3rd, EXHALE, is scheduled for Winter 2013.

My Review:
Wow did this novelette contain a heck of a story in so few words. I can honestly say that I did not expect that from this one. There was mystery, death, secrets and lies. It is a fuuristic world where stepping outside the Biome equals death. Eria's father may be the first one in a very long time to be able to step outside with his specially designed suit. However, things take a turn for the worst and Eria and Ash (her fathers assistant) try to figure out what went wrong and who is behind it. They are forced to run for their lives and try to figure out what happened. However, there is more going on at the lab. There is something wrong with the people in the Biome, more specifically the older members. There is also something about Eria that she never knew, that will change everything. Her life will never be the same. Will Eria be able to save everyone before it's to late? Will Ash and her nana survive?

I really enjoyed the characters in this novelette. We don't get to much time with them and I still felt like they were developed enough to like them. Ash is a great guy. He is about the same age as Eria and helped her dad in the lab. These two end up having to help each other find information as well as trying not to get captured. A lot is going on in this high stress situation but, there is still time for a little kiss time.

This was a great novelette. I am excited to see what will happen next. I am glad I signed up to review the next installment later this month when it is released!

ARC Review of Falling for the Backup by Toni Aleo (18+ Review)

Goodreads Summary:
After serving as a dutiful bridesmaid in the wedding from hell, Aynslee Shaw just wants to slink home to Nashville and forget the whole trip. That is, until the hottest guy she’s ever seen is seated next to her on the flight and dazzles her with his easy laugh and killer smile. But just when she thinks things are getting good, he vanishes, leaving Aynslee wondering, was that guy the one? And did she just let him slip through her fingers?

Former superstar goalie Jordan Ryan is back on the ice—finally. After a crippling knee injury that had him wondering if he’d ever play pro hockey again, he’s got his full attention on rebuilding his career. So a pretty—okay, beautiful—girl on a plane shouldn’t be a distraction. But Jordan is very, very distracted. And when Aynslee crosses his path again, he’s not sure any job in the world is worth missing his second chance with a woman like her.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from the Loveswept title Empty Net.

My Review:
I have been a huge fan of Toni Aleo and I was so excited that she was doing a novella. I was worried that she wouldn't be able to put  together one of her masterpieces in such a small book. However, I was so wrong!! I loved Jordan and Aynslee's story. It was a great short read. I was really looking forward to this one. It was different from the other books because Jordan was Tate's backup. So it was a different side of being on the team then we have seen in the past. I liked it though!

Aynslee and Jordan meet on a plane ride after a coffee accident. They hit it off right away. Aynslee thinks its a for sure thing he will as for her number however, Jordan runs off. That is not the only time he does that either. Jordan has some insecurities of his own. His heart was broken after his knee injury and he is worried about getting into another relationship. Will Aynslee be the one to mend his heart? Will she leave everything if he gets traded?

I loved Jordan! He was so different from some of the other Assassin's players we have seen. He is shy and kind of introverted. He has a hard time opening up to Aynslee. Their love happens quick but, it didn't feel rushed. It was more like a whirl wind of passion and lust. They have some seriously hot moments. Like start on fire moments. I went back and forth between both of them just like "Tell him/her how you feel!!!".

The only complaint I have is that it was to short!! I wanted more of their story! I kind of hope we get more of these two. I really liked them and it was fun to see Shea and Eli again too. I can't wait for Blue Lines to come out. Aleo's writing is amazing and I need more!!!

Runes
By Ednah Walters

Summary
Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

Runes Excerpt

Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. My grin broadened. I had her.

“Stop being rude and condescending for starters,” she snapped.

I blinked. Not exactly the response I’d expected, but it said something about her. Raine Cooper was no doormat or easily charmed.

“I thought I was being extremely polite,” I said.

She gave an unladylike snort. “Right.”

“Do I need to apologize?”

“Not if you don’t mean it.”

“Then I won’t.”

Her eyes narrowed with a mixture of annoyance and determination and I could swear she wanted to smack me. I found myself waiting for her next move with anticipation. It had been a while since I enjoyed bantering with a woman.

“Okay, shoot. What’s the favor?” she asked.

Disappointed that she gave in too easily, I said, “Tell your boyfriend that he and I need to talk. Today. In the next hour if possible.”

“Yes, sir.” She saluted me, her beautiful lips curving into a mocking, but enticing smile.

An insane thought popped into my head. I wanted to capture her smile. Touch her lips and see if they were as soft as they looked. My hand shot out but then I remembered something. I didn’t get emotionally involved with Mortals, yet here I was acting on impulse, letting something I was still yet to understand dictate my actions. The realization was like a douse in ice-cold water. I corrected my aim and touched her nose instead.

“Cute. Nice meeting you, Raine with an E.” I hurried away before I could forget myself and do something I’d regret. Still, I was aware of her eyes on me.

“What’s your name?” she called out.

Ignore her and keep walking. It’s the right thing to do. But the reckless part of me, suppressed for so long, wanted to come out and play.

Slowly, I turned, lowered my sunglasses, and studied her. She was all legs and curves, but what got to me, sucked me was her expression. It was a mixture of innocent curiosity, seductive charm and defiant boldness. I wasn’t here to tango with a snarky Mortal, but this one made me want to change my mind. After centuries, it might be nice to find someone worthy of my time. She might even make this assignment bearable. Of course, knowing she wouldn’t remember me afterwards made her even more appealing.

“Why do you want to know?” I asked.

“I don’t,” she said, her perfect nose up in the air again, “but Eirik will need a name to go with the message.”

“My name won’t mean anything to him. Just tell him the message is from your new neighbor.” Her mouth formed a perfect O as though my news surprised her. Grinning, I dragged my eyes away from her enticing lips. Yeah, living next door to this Mortal was going to be very interesting.

As I turned toward the sidewalk, stickers on the back of the car in her driveway caught my attention.

The Trojans.

Swimmer Girl.

She was one of them, the reason I was in their little town. Good. That mean I had every reason to up close and personal with her. She was still watching me when I reached my door. I caught her gaze and grinned.

Please tell all bloggers to find out what happens next from Torins POV they need to go to the next set of blogs on the next day of tour.

My Review
I am so lucky to get to take part in the Runes blog tour and was given an ARC. I loved Runes. It is a new concept that I haven't read much about at all. Raine is a teenager who is on the swim team. She lives a pretty normal life with normal friends. That is until Torin enters the picture. He is the motorcycle driving bad boy. Something about him is different. He shows up out of no where, can magically fix things, and has pretty weird friends. Raine has a few run in with his friends that lead to some crazy things. Magic tatoos and crazy strength. There is more going on behind the scenes then Raine can even imagine. Secrets are about to be unlocked. Is Raine ready to hear them?

Raine's family dynamic is kind of off. Her father was in a boat accident and has been missing for 3 months. She doesn't know if he is dead or alive but, her and her mother are optimistic. Raine has great friends. Cora and Eirik. They are all awesome together. Raine and Eirik are a couple during part of it. Andris throws a monkey wrench into Raine's life too. Him and his "sisters" that is. I don't want to get into this part because it will give to much away. All I will say is it involves Norse Mythology!! I know right! I love mythology and this one is pretty new to me. That is why I loved this story so much. It was unique!

Torin is one of the other love interestes. He is the hot bad boy that lives right next to Raine. He is everything Raine wants in a guy. She is dating Eirik however. She cares for Eirik but, the spark isn't really there. There are a few hot moments between Torin and Raine. There is definitely tension there. Torin also saves Raine's life but, it leads to more questions. Raine trys to talk to Torin to get some of those answers but, he can't tell her. She is kind of in the dark until the end of the book. Then it all comes together.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a unique story line which was refreshing. There is a lot of information to learn and I can not wait until book 2!!! It's title is Immortal and it will be out on August 5, 2013!!! Love it when you don't have to wait a year for a book to come out!

Question of the Week
Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why?
I usually try to finish a series however there is one that I just haven't been able to.  Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books. It sucked because I loved like the first 5 and after that they have really fizzled out I think.   The characters kind of didn't go anywhere anymore and I felt there was way to much back and forth between love interests. I love Eric she should be with him. I do know who she ends up with at the end of the series and I was appalled by it. That's probably another reason I haven't finished the series. I have the rest of the books in the series and hope to finish it someday. I love the Trueblood series on TV though. Super awesome!

Since all the talk about GFC going away feel free to follow via GFC but also via Bloglovin or Linky that way I don't lose you!! Thanks!

ARC Review of Damaged #2 by H.M. Ward (18+ Review)

Goodreads Summary:
The steamy sequel to the New York Times bestselling New Adult novel DAMAGED by H.M. Ward.

Home isn't supposed to be dangerous, but for Sidney it is. Returning home means that she has to face her past. It's not just the man who hurt Sidney that makes it horrible, but the family that didn't believe her. They were dead to her, but now that her mom is really dying things seem different. It's a chance to set things right.

What Sidney doesn't realize is that she's dragging Peter into a collision course with his past. Peter must deal with the demons haunting him if he wants to move forward with Sidney. He's willing to give up everything for her, even wade deeper into his past life to help her move forward. But, Peter isn't sure if he can get over what happened to him in New York.

IF you have not read The Arrangement 7 this review will contain spoilers!!!

My Review:
Damaged 2 starts off with Peter dropping a bomb on Sidney. Seriously! Peter is not who he claims to be. He has a secret identity. Peter has changed his last name and his actual last name is Ferro!! Holy crap right! This changes everything for Sidney. The Ferro name comes with a lot of baggage and to make things worse he lied about his name to Sidney. She has had enough with people lying to her. Going home to see her dying mother is going to be harder now that Peter is not allowed to come with. It doesn't take long for Sidney to run into Dean. Wow, he is the definition of ass. Will Sidney be able to forgive Peter? Can Peter get over his past?

I love that the story lines have combined. We got to meet John Ferro, the youngest of the brothers. He is awesome! I can't wait to get to read his story. He is arrogant and cocky, which means I love him already. Sean and Avery make an appearance too. Add a little spice to the story. I actually grew to like Sidney's parents. They turned out better then I expected after everything that happened to her.

I love Peter. There are some serious sexual tension between him and Sidney. They both have their reservations about each other but, lust can only be ignored for so long. They are perfect for each other. I know that Peter would do anything for Sidney. Possibly even commit a crime...maybe even murder. These two go through some tough stuff in this book. Meeting each others family is hard enough. And you can't forget about the turkey, he messes up some potential greatness! Sidney really grows during this book. She overcomes some of her fears. To put it bluntly she grew some balls and is taking care of herself. I felt some serious girl power!!!

I really liked this book. I thought it was a great way for this story to go. This is a great series and you should definitely pick it up!

The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

My Thoughts:
I know this has been on a lot of blogs in the past week. However, I am super excited for Allegiant! This has been such a great series that I can't wait to see how it's going to end. Thoughts on this series anyone?

ARC Review of Off the Record by Sawyer Bennett (18+ Review)

Goodreads Summary:
The sparks of dislike burn hot, but the sparks of mutual attraction burn even hotter.

Ever Montgomery suffered the ultimate betrayal by the one man who she should have been able to count on for anything. It has left her hurt, jaded and incapable of forming relationships, but it also means that she can spot a liar a mile away. These traits are earning her a reputation as a reporter with a keen nose for a good story and a complete understanding of the extreme power of the written word.

Lincoln Caldwell, is the hot goalie for the New York Rangers. At twenty-four and a rising star, he works hard and he plays even harder. He’s gorgeous and carefree—the ultimate charmer. Ladies fall at his feet and the single life has never been lived the way Linc Caldwell does it.

When Ever publishes an article about Linc containing information that she received off the record, she finds herself on the receiving end of the athelete’s fury. Rather than basking in the glory of exposing Linc as a shameless user of women, she finds herself at his mercy when he demands and receives retribution. Required by her editor to trail Linc for six weeks, Ever is forced to look at the real Linc Caldwell.

And she just might find that she has misjudged him.

My Review:
I am in love with this series you guys. Linc has become my favorite. Ever hasn't had your typical childhood. Her father left her and her mom at a terrible time. It has permanently scarred her. She has never been able to have a normal relationship with a man. Marc was as close as she got and to me he was a big giant jerk. That situation didn't help her at all. After meeting Linc at a party with friend Emily, Ever writes an article for her paper about him. However, she uses information she didn't check facts on and received off the record. Of course this leads to some mad people. Linc is not happy. In order to make up for it Ever has to accompany Linc for 6 weeks to avoid a major lawsuit instead of going on an assignment that could be huge for her career. So you can just about imagine how that will work. Two upset people being forced to live with each other for the sake of their job or reputation. Will they be able to get along and not kill each other? Will Ever be able to have a real relationship? Is Linc the perfect medicine for her scarred heart?

I loved that Emily and Nix made appearances! I loved their story in the previous book. Ever's Mom and Linc's Dad were great people too. The perfect parents. Ever's Dad was not my favorite. What he did is pretty awful. I would have reacted the same way Ever did.

Like I said earlier I am in love with Linc. He is a hot hunk of man. Seriously. There are some super sexy scenes in this one. I mean like fan yourself hot. The 6 weeks they had to spend with each other ended up being the best medicine for both of them. Linc turned out to be a pretty great guy in my opinion. Ever has a lot of insecurities to work through and they get the better of her on a few occasions. Trusting men is not something she is good at. She is fiercely protective of her heart and for good reason. Will Linc break through the ice she has around her heart? Will Ever be able to let go?

I loved this book! I am so glad the author reached out to me with her first book because this series is great. The epilogue was great because we get to see how Emily and Nix's relationship develops too. I hope the series will continue! If you haven't started this series yet you really need to!

THE CAMP:
Emma has always tried to be perfect in her almost eighteen years of existence, but it has never been good enough. As she finds herself counting the days until she’s officially free from her parents’ reins, her stepfather hands her a plane ticket explaining that she must attend the Re-Boot Camp in the wilds of Alaska.

Once she lands in the middle of nowhere, she realizes the camp is nothing like she imagined, and she wants out immediately. That is until she meets Liam.

The camp is full of teens with dark pasts, but she finds herself drawn to Liam’s ability to see who she really is and who she wants to become. While Emma and Liam begin adjusting to a place neither wants to be, frightening events begin to unfold. When people begin disappearing, it becomes apparent they can only trust one another as they fight for survival.

My Review:
I really liked the cover of this book. It caught my eye instantly when i was asked which book to review. I'm always a sucker for a little romance. This book was a great summer read! I didn't expect the creepy element to be so great. Emma isn't so much a troubled teen. It's more like her mom and step dad are just awful people and wanted to get rid of her. Her family's story is truly sad. I don't know how people could treat a kid like that. So Emma arrives to the island for "ReBoot camp". So she can learn her "lesson". She is having an ok time and actually meets a great/hot guy, Liam. Shortly after though strange things start happening. Men taunting Emma at night through her tent, campers disappearing, and even deaths.  Let me just say I had a few theories on who the bad guy was and I was wrong about both! I was surprised that there were no adults at the camp. A bunch of older teens /people in there twenty's watching over teens with criminal backgrounds seems like a bad idea. However, ideal for a crazy guy to try to kill them. Will Emma and her new companions survive this summer? Who is behind these abductions?

I liked most of the characters in the story. A lot of the other guys were typical teenagers with raging hormones. I really liked Steph though. She was a camp leader and was really nice and helpful when it came to Emma. She was kind of her only friend there other then Liam. Chelsea was the other girl at the camp and she was not so nice haha. But, what happens to her kind of sucks so I like her a little more now that I have finished the book.

To the love interest! I have to say that I really liked Liam. He was a great guy. Very protective. He grew up around the area and therefore knew everything about the island the camp was on. He was kind of like a handyman. I felt like him and Emma kind of jumped into things quickly. They did eventually get to know each other as the book went on. There were strenuous circumstances to and I would try really hard to have at least one person I trusted fully. The romance didn't go to far but, there was some kissing and cuddling which is ok with me. It would have been weird if more were to happen in a situation like that. I loved how we got to see them in the epilogue. It tied things up perfectly.

I really enjoyed this book and if you are looking for a quick summer read it is the one for you. A little romance/suspense/crazy people will always work for me.
