Forever and Beyond by Jayde Scott

Goodreads Summary:
Hidden from mortal eyes and divided into three factions are the creatures of darkness that coexist with mortals.

In the witches’ town Morganefaire, an ancient legend tells the story of a mirror that was once shattered into four fragments, each able to entrap a powerful soul.

Eighteen-year-old Amber is a struggling necromancer on a mission: help vampire Aidan stop the Prophecy of Morganefaire and protect the innocents from the inevitable fate that will befall them should the wrong faction win. When bodies begin to pile up, Amber realizes she has no choice than to work together with the fashion-savvy yet irritating ghost of a young witch to solve the mystery and protect the one she loves.

In a world of forbidden love, of ancient enemies and bonds spun by fate, nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted. Amber’s life will never be the same again unless she finds out who the murderer is, and quick, before everything she ever loved is taken from her forever…

My Review:
I have been a fan of this series since A Job from Hell and I have no idea how Jayde Scott is able to come up with such a gripping story with each book! Seriously, this was book 5 and I am still enthralled with this story. I was lucky enough to receive a copy from the author and couldn't put it down. Forever and Beyond is in our lovely Amber's point of view again. I really love these characters. Amber is probably my favorite. She has been through a lot recently. She is dealing with being a vampire and the need to feed. I'm surprised she is doing so well. Aidan makes a big difference. They are so cute together! Even with things are going crazy. This book picks up where the previous one left off. Aidan, Amber, and Kieran are heading to Morganefaire. Things are not quite right here. Bodies are piling up and there are suspicions are raised. Amber takes things into her own hands as well especially after she meets a rather pesky ghost.

Julie proved to be an interesting addition. Annoying at times but, helpful. It will be interesting to see what happens with her. Aidan is still awesome and super good looking. There is still time for a little romance between everything in Forever and Beyond too :) I still feel like he is keeping something from Amber. Kieran's relationship with Patricia is also interesting. I hope we get to learn a little bit more about them in the next one.

Things are starting to click into place for the group. The sneak peak of Shadow Blood will leave you anxiously waiting for it. Some big players are introduced! I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. And what I have learned about Jayde Scott's books is that I probably can't guess and it WILL be great! If you haven't started this series you need to! Hopefully Shadow Blood comes out soon!

ARC review of Collide by H.M. Ward

Goodreads Summary:
Mari was assigned to run lines with Trystan after school--it's a job any other girl would have died to get--but Mari doesn't want to be like everyone else. And although Trystan is unbelievably beautiful, she isn't interested in him. Mari thinks a kiss should mean something and Trystan gives them away like jellybeans.

When Mari accidentally overhears that Trystan is in love, she can't believe it. He's pining over some girl that doesn't know he's alive. The confident swagger and endless stream of girls is a facade. Mari keeps his secret, but she learns quickly about an even bigger secret to keep.

My Review:
Collide is a novella that follows Mari and Trystan's story.  I was so surprised by Collide. I read this novella in about three hours. I was sucked in quickly and devoured it. It isn't your typical young hot man meets girl and they are instantly infatuated and sex crazed. Mari and Trystan have been friends for a couple years. Mari helping Trystan run lines for a play. Trystan seems like your typical hot guy but, he has a few big secrets.

The novella switches back and forth between Mari and Trystan's point of view, which I love. You really get to see what each of them is thinking in the situations. Mari and Trystan both put up a strong front but, inside are broken. They have had a rough past. Trystan especially, I felt so bad for him. My heart ached for him. Mari was a lot like me in high school. A shy girl who believes in love. I completely agree on her point of view about kissing. They both have secrets and issues in their lives. Can they be over come? Will love win?

I really enjoyed Trystan and Mari. Their best friends I wanted to just slap. I was like, "don't listen to them!!!" Seth seems to me like the more typical version of high school senior. A hormone crazed guy if you will. In his own twisted way he was looking out for his friend the same way Katie did for Mari. In more of a guy way.

H.M. Ward keeps knocking them out of the park. The way Collide ends will leave you begging for more! I have to know what's going to happen with these two. It was so well written. You will enjoy this if you are a fan of H.M. Ward and I would highly recommend it. Collide will be out in paperback later this week. The next volume is due out around October 1st.

ARC Review of On Dublin Street by Samantha Young

Goodreads Summary:

Four years ago, Jocelyn Butler left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Edinburgh. Burying the grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without any real attachments has worked well for her so far but when Joss moves into a fantastic apartment on Dublin Street, her carefully guarded world is shaken to its core by her new roommate's sexy older brother.

Braden Carmichael is a man who always gets what he wants. And what he wants is Jocelyn in his bed. Knowing how skittish Joss is concerning any kind of relationship, Braden proposes a sexual arrangement that should satisfy the intense attraction between them without it developing into anything 'more'. An intrigued Jocelyn agrees, completely unprepared for the Scotsman and his single-minded determination to strip the stubborn young woman bare... to the very soul.

Contains strong adult content. For readers ages 18+

My Review:
On Dublin Street is the first adult book for Samantha Young. I have loved the other YA books she has written and was sooo excited she decided to do an adult romance!!! I was not disappointed. I have been on a romance kick lately. Joss is a very strong, independent woman who had to deal with a terrible tragedy when she was younger. This tragedy left her kind of broken. As the book goes on you find out that Joss is half a person. She keeps a part of her under lock and key and doesn't let people in. She has had a string of meaning less relationships with men and only has a couple friends. When she moves to Dublin street with Ellie she fights to stay the same person she has always been. Ellie and Joss become friends through the process. Joss then meets Braden in a highly unconventional way. He gets under her skin at an emotional level. His sexual arrangement with her seems to be ok with Joss for a while. It's what she's good at. Unattached relationship.  Braden slowly beats down her brick walls around her heart.

Braden comes off as a playboy who uses women. He is crazy attractive and Joss is drawn to that. He is an amazing flirt and definitely  knows how to make a girl green eyed monster jealous. He was way more intuitive then I thought. He tried to get Joss into an actual relationship. To commit and accept him as a boyfriend. Sometimes I felt like Joss was the man and din't want an emotional attachment more so then Braden! Despite his playboy persona he was a good man with good intentions. They both had trouble in their past and were trying to overcome it. I think Braden needed to see the therapist with Joss! Oh yea, and the romance is steamy!! Very hot! It grew to be a very sensual kind of romance. Nothing raunchy about it!

Once I had time to sit down and read, I couldn't put it down. I sat at the campfire reading with my Kindle light! Well done on the first adult book!! I look forward to reading more of them!

Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

Goodreads Summary:
Embrace the Forbidden

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.

Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

My Review:

Sweet Evil is a unique story in today's angel and demon pool. It takes a very interesting perspective on angels and demons. I really liked the Duke's. I thought that was really interesting. And how their Neph children would be drawn to certain sins. Very unique idea! Patti is an amazing adoptive Mother and raises Anna like she is her own. She really loves her! Anna seems like your typical goody-good. Although things start to change at a party and when Kaidan makes his appearance in her life. They are attracted to each other but, being who they are severely complicates that. Anna has a very interesting father too. I won't give away who he is though! You have to read to find out. Anna is forced to make some decisions about which direction her life will go in and what parts of her she is willing to sacrifice.

I enjoyed Jay. He seemed like a really good friend. Not to often do we see male and female best friends that don't turn into more. It was nice to see you can actually have a friend of the opposite sex. Veronica proved to be a good friend too. The other Neph kids were....interesting. I felt bad for Marna and Ginger. What they are forced to do really sucks.

Lets not forget about our leading man Kaidan!! Wow, given who his father was I guess I kind of expected him to be hot just because. I can't imagine being ruled by his sin. I can't believe he was the rational one when they were on their little road trip. I feel bad for him to because he grew up not knowing what love really his. His dad is not exactly a loving kind of guy. The New Year's party was probably my favorite part. Anna and her group did a pretty good job being bad! Anna was kind of a natural bad girl, which should prove to be interesting.

A lot of craziness goes down at the New Year's party and the Summit at the end. The tides have turned and angels are involved now. I really hope Wendy Higgins second book gets picked up by a publisher, I really want to know what's going to happen. Fingers crossed!!

Secrets (Vol. 2) by Ella Steele

Goodreads Summary:

Cole is hiding something, but Anna has no idea what. Her attraction to the wealthy artist is untamable and completely inappropriate. He's her boss. He's twice her age, but that doesn't change her feelings for him. Anna's dreams are filled with Cole doing sexy things to her—things she can't forget at sunrise. To make matters worse she has no idea if he feels the same way.

When Cole offers Anna a prestigious job at Le Femme after graduation she doesn't know what to do. If Anna takes the position she can kiss her previous career plans good-bye, but she can't walk away from Cole. Not yet.

My Review:
Ok, there is seriously something about an older man. I am really curious to know what Cole's secret is at this point. The career opportunities that Cole is offering is amazing for a new grad right out of college. I was so excited when he decided to show her his "secret work" of art. The author does a great job of describing what they looked like but, I wish I could have seen them! The cover of the books make so much more sense now! Things are heating up between Cole and Anna. Lots of sexual tension brewing! Again the book ended way to soon and  I need the next one to come out before September!

Secrets (Vol. 1) by Ella Steele

Goodreads Summary:
Everyone has a secret. Anna Lamore is about to find out that some people will do anything to protect theirs. She unknowingly stumbles into the worst situation that her career, and her emotions, can handle. Meeting the infamously powerful and sexy Cole Stevens throws her life into turmoil. Not only is the wealthy artist everything she doesn’t need, but his studio is branded with controversy that can kill Anna’s career before it even starts.

This book contains some adult language and sexual situations.

My Review:
This is a series of short stories that follows Anna's life basically. We do get introduced to Cole in Vol. 1, which was awesome. I have been anxiously waiting for this series after reading Scandalous and it did not disappoint! I love Anna, she is awesome. A very strong opinionated person. For the record I would feel exactly like she did about the whole Edward situation. If the sex doesn't work the relationship might prove to be challenging. I wish I could have seen what she looked like when she went to her interview at Le Femme. I can only imagine the how she looked. I think her internship should prove to be very interesting.

Then there is Cole. He seems like the sexy older man! Ugh, I can't wait to see more of him. I have this feeling that he is going to test Anna in some way. I don't know. It's just a feeling I have. I also have a feeling he's going to be kind of kinky! HA! Wouldn't that be fun.

The only complaint that I have is that it was to SHORT!! I need more! I have to know what's going to happen with Cole and Anna! These books better come out once a week or withdrawals may set in.

Untraceable (The Nature of Grace #1) by S.R. Johannes

Goodreads Summary:

16-year-old Grace has lived in the Smokies all her life, patrolling with her forest ranger father who taught her about wildlife, tracking, and wilderness survival.

When her dad goes missing on a routine patrol, Grace refuses to believe he’s dead and fights the town authorities, tribal officials, and nature to find him.

One day, while out tracking clues, Grace is rescued from danger by Mo, a hot guy with an intoxicating accent and a secret. As her feelings between him and her ex-boyfriend get muddled, Grace travels deep into the wilderness to escape and find her father.

Along the way, Grace learns terrible secrets that sever relationships and lives. Soon she’s enmeshed in a web of conspiracy, deception, and murder. And it’s going to take a lot more than a compass and a motorcycle (named Lucifer) for this kick-butting heroine to save everything she loves.

My Review:
Untraceable was a different kind of book then I usually read. However, I really liked it! It kept me on my toes till the last page. I figured there was something fishy going on as I was reading but, I never expected it to go so deep! S.R. Johannes does an amazing job of not giving anything away until she wants to. It was nice to not be able to figure out what was going to happen at the middle of the book. Grace is an amazing female lead. She is so strong and independent. She was fearless and willing to try when no body else would. She put her life on the line looking for her Dad. Her relationship with her Mom is also kind of tense. Loosing your Dad can make everyone kind of crazy and make your relationships hard when your grieving. What Grace doesn't realize is digging into things can get you in trouble. Seeking answers can have deadly consequences.

In the beginning it was hard for me to pick between Wyn and Mo. They were both nice guys who seemed to care about Grace. Mo had the mysterious thing going for him. I always had a suspicious feeling about him though. Wyn was comfortable, which can be good or bad. Darn those ex's! By the end of the book I was full blown team Mo. I mean come on he has an accent. It really doesn't take much more then that!!

I really enjoyed this read and am excited to get to read Uncontrollable! After the crazy ending of this book I can't wait to see what's going to happen next!

My Thoughts:
I have loved all the books I have read by Samantha Young. I am really excited that she has an adult book coming out now. I have a feeling it will be very very good! Her teasers have been very tease worthy and I will be impatiently waiting for this  one. Her writing has always been amazing with her YA books. If you haven't ready any of her books you really should! She has 5 other series out there and they are all worth reading. My favorite is the Fade series. They are such unique stories, you will be on your toes the whole time. I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

If you didn't see the large bold print above this is NOT a YA book. It is meant for adults. I do frequently read adult books. It's a nice change from YA sometimes.

Onyx by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads Summary:
Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

My Review:
I absolutely loved Obsidian (book 1) and I didn't know if it could be topped by the sequel or even matched. But, boy was I wrong!! Onyx was amazing. I stayed up late into the night to finish this one! I have missed these characters. So much happened in this book. New characters are introduced and we get to see a whole lot of everyone else too! I really liked how Katy wanted to do what she could to protect Daemon and herself. She was so sick of being a liability and I admire that. She proved that she could be an asset. Even if she kind of went about it the wrong way. Ok she really went about it the wrong way. Katy was a lot more stubborn about her and Daemon's relationship in this one too. She really had a lot to think about. A lot of crazy twists and turns take place in Onyx and not everyone will survive...

Daemon is as scrumptious as ever!! I feel like I saw a completely different side of Daemon in Onyx. He was...kind of....sweet. I liked him more and more as the book went on. He protects those he loves with such fierceness. It makes you want every guy to be like him haha. Jerk-ness and all! The end of chapter 32 had me yelling "WHAT!" at my Kindle. Daemon is for sure an alien. No human guy would ever do that...ever.

So again I say, if you haven't read the Lux series yet then you have to!! As soon as possible! Opal needs to come like yesterday. With the way Onyx ended I can't wait to see what happens next. It left my eyes bulging out of my head. So all in all this was an amazing book and I recommend it to everyone!

Title: Forever and Beyond
Author: Jayde Scott
Release Date: August 2012
Series Number: 5

Goodreads Summary:
There isn't one out yet!! Sorry!

My thoughts:
I know there isn't much information on this one yet but, I can't wait for it! I love the Ancient Legends Series by Jayde Scott. It follows a supernatural group through some pretty crazy stories. It starts out with A Job from Hell as book 1 and only gets better from there. Intertwining everyone's story lines. This series was one of the first paranormal stories I had ever read and the author (Jayde Scott) is awesome! I received a copy of the third book from her! It is truly amazing writing and if you haven't read them yet you really should!

Here are my links to the first 4 books reviews!

About the Author

Jayde Scott is a psychology graduate and writer most notable for creating the Ancient Legends series. She lives in London with her family and is a huge fan of baking chocolate cake and listening to indie music. (Information from Amazon's author page)

Ways to keep in touch with Jayde:

Embrace by Jessica Shirvington

Goodreads Summary:

On her 17th birthday, everything will change for Violet Eden. The boy she loves will betray her. Her enemy will save her. She will have to decide just how much she's willing to sacrifice.
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, EMBRACE is a compelling novel of good and evil, seductive desires and impossible choices. A centuries old war between fallen angels and the protectors of humanity chooses a new fighter. It's a battle Violet doesn't want, but she lives her life by two rules: don't run and don't quit. If angels seek vengeance and humans are the warriors, you could do a lot worse than betting on Violet Eden.
LINCOLN: He's been Violet's one anchor, her running partner and kickboxing trainer. Only he never told her he's Grigori--part human, part angel--and that he was training her for an ancient battle between Angels and Exiles.
PHOENIX: No one knows where his loyalties lie, yet he's the only one there to pick up the pieces and protect her after Lincoln's lies. In a world of dark and light, he is all shades of gray.
Two sides: Angel or Exile.
Two guys: Lincoln or Phoenix.
The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her eternity...
"In her YA paranormal romance debut, Jessica Shirvington combines "the badass-action of Vampire Academy, the complex love triangles of Twilight, and the angel mythology of Fallen, taken one step further." --

My Review:
I was lucky enough to win a hardcover of this book in a giveaway. It was one that I really wanted to win because the cover is so gorgeous! I didn't really know what to expect with this book. I liked the main character Violet. There were times where I just wanted to reach through the book and shake her! I was like "open your eyes, your getting played!!". When she is betrayed by someone she loves it kind of breaks her. She always said she wasn't going to run but, I felt like she did that an awful lot when it came to her emotions. Doing "things" just to distract herself from how she felt. Let's face it we all do that. We try to distract ourselves when things get hard or difficult decisions need to be made.

My heart broke for Lincoln throughout this book. To be constantly shot down like he was...ugh! I felt so bad for him. Violet's hate made so much more sense at the end of the book. I was much better after the ending. I won't tell you why because you do need to read the book! As far as Phoenix is concerned, I never liked him. I was always suspicious of him because he never really answered Violet's questions.

I enjoyed this read and it was different then a lot of other angel books I have read. The concept of Embracing is very creative and having to "take a leap of faith" was brilliant. If you are looking for something different then what is out there and that takes a few crazy turns this is a book for you! I will be waiting on the next one!

The Wild Ones by M. Leighton

Goodreads Summary:

Passion as hot as midnight in the South and love as wild as the horses they tame.

Camille “Cami” Hines is the darling daughter of the South’s champion thoroughbred breeder, Jack Hines. She has a pedigree that rivals some of her father’s best horses. Other than feeling a little suffocated at times, Cami thought she was pretty happy with her boyfriend, her life and her future.

But that was before she met Patrick Henley.

“Trick” blurs the lines between what Cami wants and what is expected of her. He’s considered the “help,” which is forbidden fruit as far as her father is concerned, not to mention that Trick would be fired if he ever laid a hand on her. And Trick needs his job. Desperately. His family depends on him.

The heart wants what the heart wants, though, and Trick and Cami are drawn to each other despite the obstacles. At least the ones they know of.

When Trick stumbles upon a note from his father, it triggers a series of revelations that could ruin what he and Cami have worked so hard to overcome. It turns out there’s more to Trick’s presence at the ranch than either of them knew, secrets that could tear them apart.

My Review:
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book. This was probably one of my favorite of M. Leighton's books. And look at that cover!! I mean seriously! Cami's story was very entertaining. She was a spunky normal girl. She was your average college girl that liked to go to the bar with her friends. It was someone you could really relate to. The same pressures in life that most people deal with and a few more because of who her family was. Trick was not the right someone according to her family. And what isn't more fun then some naughty forbidden love!

I really liked the relationship between Cami and Trick. It's kind of the relationship that everyone dreams about. The sexy stable hand who daddy said not to touch. Well that should be one thing that all Dad's should know at this point...that only makes it worse! Although there are huge obstacles in their relationship and secrets rip them apart. Will the easy life with the "perfect" boyfriend win out over the harder relationship??? You'll have to read to find out! Trust me you want to! There is a fare share of steamy moments! But, between who I will never tell!

This is a must read people and its official release date is August 1, 2012 however Amazon has released it TODAY! Get your hands on it because it will not disappoint you! Yet another amazing book from M. Leighton!

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Goodreads Summary:

The demon Lilith has been destroyed and Jace freed from captivity. But when the Shadowhunters arrive, they find only blood and broken glass. Not only is the boy Clary loves missing, so is the boy she hates: her brother Sebastian, who is determined to bring the Shadowhunters to their knees.

The Clave's magic cannot locate either boy, but Jace can't stay away from Clary. When they meet again Clary discovers the horror Lilith's magic has wrought - Jace and Sebastian are now bound to each other, and Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other.

Only a few people believe that Jace can still be saved. Together, Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle bargain with the sinister Seelie Queen, contemplate deals with demons, and turn at last to the merciless, weapon-making Iron Sisters, who might be able to forge a weapon that can sever the bond between Sebastian and Jace. If the Iron Sisters can't help, their only hope is to challenge Heaven and Hell - a risk that could claim their lives.

And they must do it without Clary. For Clary is playing a dangerous game utterly alone. The price of losing not just her own life, but Jace's soul. She's willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost? What price is too high to pay, even for love?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

My Review:
It took me a awhile to finally read this book. I was really worried that the series was going to start going down hill and I would be disappointed. However, I was NOT disappointed after finishing it! This was probably my favorite of the series so far actually. It seemed to me that everyone was a little happier in this one and acted more like adults. Clary has grown so much since the first book. I am so happy that she is starting to be a Shadow hunter wick kick butt skills! She is able to fight for those she loves now. She has had kind of a rough go and I am starting to think that her and Jace will never get a chance to be happy.

I felt really bad for Clary at certain parts because she loves Jace so much but, it's not really him. You will have to read the book to know what I mean by that. To have the person you love right next to you but, for them to not really "be there" would be so hard. I also really liked Jordan and Maia's story! It's about time some one got a little action in these books!!! I really like Simon too and Isabelle is still an awesome chick! Alec still manages to drive me crazy and he's going to have to grow up soon or he will lose everything.

The ending left me really excited for the next book! I am sad that the next book doesn't come out until March of 2014!! How am I suppose to wait that long for the conclusion....I have no idea. But, the title, City of Heavenly Fire, makes so much more sense now!

The Wild Ones by M. Leighton Cover Reveal!!

The Wild Ones
